Pre-Basics in the Reserves can drill, but it is optional for them. They receive pay and everything else, caveat is that they are not allowed to perform any activities while at drill that would require a soldier to have completed his IET. I went to 1 drill before Basic with my unit and I primarily watched the guys of my MOS do PMCS, Inventories, Etc and then I cleaned at the end. During available time I was taught many basics of marching, practiced my salute and many other basic soldier tasks which when I did get to basic made it so I didn't stand out because I already knew how to march and other things. Now flash forward to only a few months ago, I am now a SGT in my second unit and we got a new Pre-Basic for my MOS in our section, I essentially did the initial training such as marching, soldier's creed, three general orders, etc.

Im currently collecting my waivers. Getting my last one next week and then just waiting for the word thats its been accepted. I'm not fit at all. Not at the weight requirement, but meet the body fat percentage. Can't do a proper push up, nor sit-ups or pull-ups. My 1 mile is 13 minutes. I'm worried I won't get through BT. I have the mentality to not quit no matter the situation, but I'm a little worried I could get sent home.

I love your no nonsense approach. I'm currently an Immigrant awaiting Green Card approval. I understand that currently Green Cards are required for foreigners, when was that rule implemented? I hear conflicting reports from the Military community regarding foreigners transitioning to citizens through military service, would you be able to shed some light on this?

I’ll be celebrating 20yrs as a Recruiter tomorrow and it’s always been a requirement. Over a decade ago, the MAVNI Program for full time Army was suspended and it hasn’t come back yet. That program was an exception to that rule for the height of the Afghan and Iraq wars. Once you obtain your Green Card and otherwise eligible to join with or without the normal waivers, you’re good to go to join. Once you get to BCT, you can apply for U.S. Citizenship for Free and expedited so that 99% of the time you’ll be swearing in as a U.S. Citizen on the same morning of your BCT Graduation Ceremony. What’s your advice for those prior service enlisted people looking at Army: National Guard or Air: National Guard while going to college and doing ROTC for three branch of Guard you’re doing. They have a Marine2Guard program for active duty marines thinking of going army guard when they’re close to their EAS

Army Guard goes off Army Regulations and Air Guard goes off of Air Force regulations. As far as benefits and everything else goes… they should be identical. If you’re coming from the Corps and you want the easier life, go Air and if you want something more comparable to the corps, go army. Both are part time obviously and won’t require a whole lot of commitment. Air Guard for commissioning require a technical degree and preferable in aviation or they won’t consider you. Plus, they’re highly competitive and GPA is heavily considered. Army Guard, 2.0 or greater and any 4yr degree will be suffice. Thank you for watching and stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼

Have rsp next weekend, my first one, however I think I pulled something in my arm, what would the best course of action be? Go to the Dr? I don't think it's too that point but should I let someone know? Also what is the red phase of rsp like? Im only going to two drills before i ship so im trying to get as much info as possible before leaving october 1st.

Rest and light stretching of the arm. As it feels better start with body weight exercises and def let your recruiter know so during drill you don’t retinue it or make it worse. Current future soldier for regular Army. I have a reservation for 56M (Religious Affairs Specialist) I ship out 8/13 to Jackson. I didn’t get an option 19 but I’m curious to the chances of me getting a duty station of choice or will it come down to the needs of the Army? My wife and would like to stay in the south but I don’t think we will have the chance to choose a duty station.

How do I become an officer in the guard without getting a 110gt score? For some reason I just cant get a 110, my best is a 107 gt. Are there other programs or other ways to commission?

If you already applied for your N400 just wait! It doesn’t take long .. some Mos will only be available to you if you’re a citizen so you are able to hold a security clearance

So here's a question for you I signed my contract in Jun and realized this is not for me and would like to not be in the army if it matters I'm still a high school student. I don't want to drill or basic. I talked to GI rights they said to just not show up and i would get a ELS. What is your opinion.

It’s an excellent MOS if that’s what you wanted and I’d suggest if you do get a car after you’re fully qualified… get a cheaper, used car. Something to get you from point A to point B. Don’t get yourself in a dealership that preys on young graduates and put them in a $1k/mo loan… Live beneath your means and budget.
