- The "Flax" in your tailor hut will never be processed. It needs to be threshed in the barn before it is flax stalks that the tailor can use. The barn workers will not draw flax from the tailor's storage box. The flax needs to be in your resource storage building for it to be accessible to the barn to be processed.

When you set villagers to work in your farm shed, their skill doesn't matter. It's the only job that works that way, because the workers have to physically move through the fields and plow/fertilize/sow. Higher skill doesn't make them faster, but they will gain skill from doing field work, which is a great way to train workers for the barn or animal shelters.

Great video.i made a field 10x10 for flax and I also made 3 smaller ones 5x5 for other stuff . Smithy next to the mine is a great idea by the way.

The cat creature is a lynx. On the map page you have the ability to change it to show different information. On one of the map pages it shows all the animals and their location on the map after you discover them. Additionally, a useful feature on that page is the animal icon will turn from white to gray if you have killed all of that species in that location. It’s also useful if you want to cut across country and want to avoid dangerous animals 😊

In my opinion since not all the crops are in season at the same time I would have 2 of the farmers work in the barn so they can process all the crops and make fertilizer, animal feed etc. just a thought. Fantastic video and series
@Kysen

Yeah that's definitely an option actually! Thanks for the suggestion and glad you like the series :)

This is why I prefer to have workers that have 3 farming and 3 crafting/production. Once barn/field work is done, they can produce sellable items.

A tid bit people and you might not know. If you go back to the house you first spawned into. Go to the table right beside the curtain, and jump up onto it. Then jump onto the top of the shelf. Go from there to the upper level. Yes the attic!!! You can have the axe up there it is not stealing, and also all contents of the small chest there.

Morning coffee with Kysen’s daily Medieval Dynasty video !! Great way to start the day !! Unfortunately, you can’t build bridges in this game, but it is still possible to make one by placing logs and planks on the ground. It can be a bit tricky but it’s doable.

Coming along nicely. Just a tip When you break down old town if you leave the Resource Storage up there it would be easier for you to sell to the vendors and do quest as you will be able to get more weight over that a lot closer. Also when last did you check out your chest in town, cause I remember that you left stuff in there, would be nice to see what it was that you left behind if you did not remove it off camera before, have good day, cheers m8.

Again, nice. The only storage that is shared between buildings is for resource storage and food storage. All other buildings do not share to the best of my knowledge. Automated farming is a lot of fun for me.. There will be inefficiencies in it with fields not being used in some seasons, but thats part of the price of automating it. I found that smaller fields are better than huge ones, but I settled on 10 x 10. Different things work for different people though. Orchards are fun as well. They take a couple of years to bare fruit though so you want to plant them before you need them. You have to plant the orchards, but your farmers will pick the fruit.
@27hund1
@27hund1 6 месяцев назад
Also, you can build fields on hilly ground that you can not put buildings on.. not the rocky areas, but the steeper hills. I found that to be a good use of space so that I can put more buildings on the flat spots. Small orchards behind houses also look great. A couple of apple trees in the back yard as an example.

Playing catchup through this build thread. Noticed you do what I do when building fields, count it out. On the bottom when you make the first click to start building a field, it has the dimensions bottom/center.

Tools are shared by workers in the same building. When you place two bags in the resource storage, one will be 'equiped' by the farm shed. You can see how much durability the tool has left in the building's details. Once the bag reaches zero durability, the next is taken from the storage (or the building's chest if you put the tool there). You can balance the stock by calculating how fast the smithy has to produce a tool. (Mine for instance is producing 0.18 bronze pickaxe per day) Note that farmers are the only workers that go from their house to the field. Placing their houses near the fields is more efficient. (All other workers can spend all day wandering around and leaning against posts, and still work 100%)
@Obsidianoak
@Obsidianoak 6 месяцев назад
The smaller fields are better for efficiency for sure. The farm shed has a radius of 70m (roughly 2 16x16 fields) after which efficiency of the work done on the fields drops and there will be a symbol by the field in your management screen. If you are 76m or so Don't worry i have not found that to be much of an issue but gettin 80-90 plus will be a concern for farmers under level 6. And even with max level farmers i would not recommend to go over 90m unless you are extending your season. The barn's proximity to the fields doesn't matter functionally but i do also like it to be there from a design stand point.... i miss when the barn also functioned like a farm shed.... Villagers: a bit like hearding cats in my opinion. They don't always take the logical route. Despite your best efforts there may be some that do cross the water constantly If you wish to prevent it you will need to use the fencing. If you want to make a bridge there are many ideas out there. Some are very fiddly - in particular with deeper bodies of water. One idea for a narrow but deep river would to be to use the base of the fishing hut then lay some planks either side as needed for asthetics and use fencing to funnel the villagers over it. Note if you are open to some cheese of game mechanics you could go to the mine each end of season to mine until you are over burdened. You will be teleported back at season change to your bed. Also for more ore drop the rocks you accumulated while mining at regular intervals

My game has been going at about the same pace as yours, I finally got a bit ahead of you and I see you've done your farm area so similar to mine. 🤣 I love it! Watching your play through has been so helpful, the first few times I tried to play I could NOT figure out some of the mechanics. Thank you so much for making these. :)

Actually, your fields are so small, you could've probably made due with only 1-2 farmers working them by themselves since they can work multiple fields at once. I run with 4 fields that are 8x8 and one worker can usually handle at least one of the fields by themselves per season for me...maybe more. I admit I get a little impatient at their speed sometimes and will just do the rest myself. :)

hello sir, i have a question, when you upgrade the skills, do they apply for your villagers or just for your character ? like for example, the skills that give you more crops from farms and orchards ? awesome series bro ! wish u the best
@Kysen
@Kysen 6 месяцев назад
Just you. Villagers will level up their skills by working. So if you have a villager working in a farm shed, their farming skill will slowly increase over time. So no, they won't get your bonus of 2x farm yield, but over time they can farm faster. And for other skills, like production, as that skill increases they will produce more of whatever it is they are making each day :)

Does anyone know when I will be able to play this new map on console? I detest the main map with the Quests. I am currently on one where I have to hunt a bear and a moose but I won't do it 😂 I just want to have the freedom to build and expand and at least with the update I can set my building limit

It's overkill to have 4 farmers, just do one. In my world i had 10 fields(5x5 fields) and 1 guy was enough

- Well, as an alternative idea, if you have say two female and two male farmers all working, then let them get their skill levels high, then put them together in the same house and you can have two couples with high farming skill each have kids, and if you are lucky one will be a boy and the other will be a girl, both of whom will have much higher skill level in farming than their parents - once they come of age, you can get them to do the same thing, and then marry them after they build up even more skill, and their offspring will be a Legendary Farmer. Then just make sure they have a kid before they're too old, and I think their spouses skill won't even matter at that point, the new child will probably still be Amazing at it.
