I had my Mediflow pillow for three years, and NEVER had a problem with the filling getting matted. I just received my new Mediflow pillow yesterday, and my neck is thankful! I was in a high-speed crash when I was going 60 mph, and a lady who was not paying attention pulled out in front of me. I had some major whiplash, and nothing helped my neck until I found this pillow.
I ended up getting the down alternative one myself. Seems good and I've been sleeping better, just had to get used to sleeping without my head tilted up with a bunch of crap pillows all my life heh.
