Tip #1 is to Set Your Intention. It’s a lot easier to start a meditation practice when you realize why you’re doing it. And there’s a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that says “You become what you think about all day long.” So keep in mind the benefits that you hope to gain, or the relationships that you hope to improve. Often, just remembering why you’re doing something helps keep you interested and focused. We all know how good meditation is for us, but it’s important to remember for those times when willpower just might not be enough.
Tip #2 is Practice Daily. They say it takes 21 days to build a new habit. So setting yourself up properly in the beginning will give you a meditation practice that can stay with you for years. It’s more effective to take a few minutes to meditate every day than to do it for an hour or so once a week, so be as regular as you can - especially in the beginning. When you meditate, you’re building your attention muscle. And it’s just like lifting weights, you build your strength slowly. And that comes with consistency.
Tip #3 is Yes, you are normal. We devoted one full week of our program to letting people know that we all experience the same challenges when we first start meditating. Especially dealing with our busy minds. So if your mind seems to get even busier when you meditate, or if you keep falling asleep or you get bored, or frustrated or demotivated, know that you’re not alone. And stick with it, you will get past this.
Tip #4 is Set Yourself Up for Success. You wouldn’t start a diet by leaving some chocolate cake out on the counter, would you? ;) So give yourself the best chance for meditation to work by finding a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. I used to meditate in my parked car when there was too much going on in my house! Also, if you can, try to be consistent and meditate at the same time and place every day. Your practice will develop a lot more quickly if you establish a set routine. And your family members will also know when you need to be left alone.
And Tip #5 is Take it With You. Take your meditation practice with you into your daily life. Remember, the benefits of meditation go way beyond the actual time spent meditating. So being more present and mindful in our daily lives can work wonders on our stress levels, our reactivity, and our relationships.

My therapist suggested meditation to help with my anxiety. I never thought of myself as someone who does it. But I tried anyway, by day 5 I was hooked! Now It's been 2 months and everyday I look forward to it.. your beautiful voice always helps center me. Thank you so much. I look forward to more of your meditations
