I was born and raised in ND and moved back after over 8yrs away living in CA, TX, IN, NC,GA and WI and I really would not live anywhere else. 780,000 people is enough and you know your neighbors and communities are close knit. There are many things to see in ND not just TRNP and Medora. The International Peace Gardens, the state Capitol in Bismarck as well as the Heritage Center there. Yes there are around 400-500,000 visitors to the TRNP every year and many times it is hard to find tickets to the steak fondue and musical. The 4th of July in Mandan has a huge 4 day celebration along with the oldest running rodeo anywhere. Ft Lincoln in Mandan and then heading east Jamestown and Fargo have several things. The topography changes depending on where in the state you are but there is a lot to see and you can ask anyone you run into here and they will help you and give you any info needed. Largest amateur softball tournament,McQuades, is held in Bismarck/Mandan every year also. About 400 teams from all over the country come here. I have been to Medora many times and there are 3 or 4 rv parks in the area but Dickinson isn't that far for hotels or other rv parks also. I never have understood why people wait til last to come here or never because they do not understand.

I am from ND and agree with the person from the shop about the people is what makes ND. I do have to say my favorite part of Teddy Roosevelt Park is the North Unit. In my opinion it is better than what you see at the south unit which is by Medora. I do highly recommend going up to the ND/Canada border to do the International Peace Gardens. However, the grasshoppers have been crazy the last few years.

North Dakota was a surprise to us! We loved Medora. We were there in April and we were the only people at the The Red Trail campground! They only took cash or check for the campsite LOL and they hand wrote a receipt for us. I felt like I stepped back in time. It was awesome. We drove the the park right before dusk, again we were the only ones on the road and we saw so much wild life it was amazing. The musical hadn’t started yet so now we have to go back!

I live by the north unit of the park. The grasshoppers have been horrible the last couple of years. My son and d-i-l and her family ranch so it has not been a fun time for anyone, really. EXCEPT for my 3yo grandaughter who has a bug trap she runs around catching grasshoppers and "releasing" them away from us ;) My dh was in the military for 20years. We ended up in ND because of that and we stayed. I am from CA, originally and I dread going back to visit. I forget how obnoxious people can be, how dirty things are, traffic, congestion, etc, etc. I have been been indoctrinated into the ND cult 😱 I find the funniest thing about North Dakotans the fact that the more you hate on North Dakota, the more they puff up their chests and the bigger the smiles. They are proud of it 😂 I will say, to be fair, ND really has little choice whether they host the wind, the grasshopper or the dirt ;) Enjoy your travels

I am surprised you guys were so negative and didn’t find anything to like about your visit (other than the candy store). Teddy Roosevelt NP is beautiful, with the North Dakota Badlands, wild horses, tons of prairie dogs, and bison. The town is cute enough, and I thought the musical was charming and very patriotic. We loved our time there.

We share what we are thinking at the time. It's ok to share our thoughts. Most of the time we receive comments that people like that we are "real"... it's not that we didn't like Medora but it wasn't our favorite places we have visited. That is all. I (Todd) don't like Chicago but it doesn't mean that others including Sheila disagree. Just one of those videos. As always thanks for supporting.

We just left Medora Campground yesterday, 8/14/23. We were there for a week. In fact, I think we stayed in the site next door to the site you were in! Anyway, we had a similar reaction to yours. We did enjoy the Medora Musical and the Pitchfork Steak Fondue. We took a couple of hikes in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park which were very fun. The prairie dogs were our favorite. The town as whole is cute, but very touristy. The crickets or grasshoppers were EVERYWHERE by the hundreds, and the yellowjackets were also very bad throughout the town, but especially bad in the campground. It made sitting outside impossible and we were both stung. We talked to several campers who had been stung. We have probably seen enough of North Dakota.

There are several mail services out there that provide options. Yep... we didn't think we were super negative. Just sharing our thoughts at that time. Go get that stamp.

Shelia. Show some respect. Not feeling that she wanted to be there. It’s where people live. Not everyone loves KC

We have always promised to share our thoughts and feelings as we travel. If you watched Seattle and Portland Oregon even San Francisco... all those places we shared our same thoughts both negative and positive. Why can't we have an opinion good or bad?

We always promised to share our thoughts no matter what. So there were highs and lows of our visit. Isn't it better to be honest on our thoughts versus just make sugar coated videos?

@SwitchItUpLife Nope, I don't want you to sugar coat it. However, from what was shown, it seems there was alot left on the table of what you could have said and done. We go the TRNP 3-4 times a year and find it different every time.

@jimandellenmeadows6244 We understand things can be different. While we were there we had fires from Canada didn't go outside a lot because of smoke, a lot of wind and rain. Not making excuses but it does play into an enjoyment level. Also from Medora across North Dakota there really is nothing except Fargo and Jackson. There is a reason it has nobody living up that way. So our experience is just that... our experience. Sometimes you go to a restaurant and the food wasn't for you and didn't like the atmosphere so you don't go back... the people working there are good people.

@SwitchItUpLife I will have to say your wrong. There is a lot to do here. It may not be in your wheelhouse, but those of us "nobody's" that live here do things everyday. We hunt, fish, farm, explore, find fossils, enjoy sunrises/sets. We bird watch, boat, ski and much more. I am also sure the folks across Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming are greatful for the support.
