Derek grew up in a nominally Christian home, but REALLY met Christ while touring with a heavy metal band. He was a pastor in a charismatic church until deeper study led him to Orthodoxy. Derek and his wife, Rebekah, have 3 children.
Wow, I did the exact same thing with counting the I/me/my(s). My evangelical congregation averages about 125 first person pronouns just during the song portion of the service, about 25 minutes. Comparing that number to the number of I/me/my(s) for the whole of the Divine Liturgy is mind blowing.
