I’ve known Michelle Ivey for years and I’m a really good friend of hers and what those shows depicted of her is not true and she’s a warm hearted bundle of turtle joy. I’ve gotten to know her and her family throughout the years and I will tell you that she’s just as normal as any other person, her passions in life would make her unique and that’s what I like about her. She’s very easy-going person that I’ve ever met. She’s very caring about those around her especially her family and her friends. My husband and I got to know her a lot better last year we actually got to meet her in person , and it was one of the most memorable highlights of that year. Her and I do share a lot in common, but she is always true to her family and her friends and to her fans. I am happy that she has a better life than what she did before, and I’m grateful to have Michelle Ivey in my life as a really good friend of mine, and a personal friend of mine , she went above and beyond for me and my husband and so I went above and beyond for her and her family. I’m glad that Michelle is in my life and I’m very grateful for it and same thing with her family. And if anybody has anything negative to say about her, I will defend her , she is the most kind caring person I’ve ever met and she’s very fun. I have nothing bad to say about her and her family.

Hi! I'm not even sure how I stumbled onto this video today. This is Michele Ivey, one of my other Google/RU-vid accounts... I want to say Thank You for the video. I shared it on my Facebook even. I know I haven't been active on RU-vid as much since season 5 of Cowabunga Corner, though we do have more videos filmed and I do hope once I get into a better living situation that we can start things up as I've done more interviews and got so much more to share. I am really impressed by how much you've gotten into this video, stuff from my Facebook/Instagram and videos. I do just see myself as a loud TMNT fan, as all fans are equal in my eyes.. you can't measure passion. People should not worry about sharing their passion as long as no one is hurt from the passion. Thanks again!

The Fred Willard VH1 show mostly mocked her, but there was a clip from another show that treated her more seriously. I can't find it online anymore

Kind of confused about his statement “the ninja turtles aren’t really fully accepted either”, what the hell does that mean does he not know how many comic books, action figures, movies, video games, TV shows, and other merch they’ve had over the years, for God sake I’m watching the 2012 show on Netflix right now as I’m typing this

Ninja turtles aren't near as popular as they uses to in the 80s tho
@IveyAngelo
@IveyAngelo Год назад
I agree with @hanakosan4404 it would mean towards the characters as a whole. Which was something a lot of the superfans hooked onto back in the day, the ones that remained fans after the TMNT started to die out of the media... outcasts often related so much to the Turtles, where we just wanted to live our lives but was attacked and picked by others for being ourselves. Many people I know are so scared even to this day to just be themselves, because they worry what other people think of them. TMNT was a show about outcasts that helped inspire people that they could still be themselves... we understood their problems. And in the 90's, from like 1994 to 1999 people were mocked for still liking TMNT... so at that point you were not really accepted for still being a TMNT fan... so many different levels to that.

Ninja turtles isn’t really an IP kids get made fun for liking . I remember everyone in school loved the ninja turtles, from 1st to 12th . No kid got bullied for Ninja turtles , just compliments if you wore a shirt .
@IveyAngelo
@IveyAngelo Год назад
I was a bit older than the normal TMNT fans back in the day, it was seen as a kid thing... so I was made fun of for liking TMNT. Though the bullying started long before TMNT for me, it was never Turtles that made it so I was an outcast... but the kids would find anything they could to attack me. They thought calling me "Turtle Girl" was an insult, but I laughed cause the first kids that called me "Turtle Girl" were friends, so I never was troubled that the others didn't understand me.

Michele and the 80s in general represent a shameful time in our past where western society was high trust and homogenous. Turtle-mania existed in a period where both men and women could openly celebrate brotherhood, family, male mentorship, “toxic” male role models etc and someone like Michele could only be as obsessive as she was because society was so safe that she didn’t have to worry about more than some teasing at school. She didn’t have to worry that some untoward urban youths were going to film themselves playing the knockout game with her as she walks to school carrying her turtle mask, and stores didn’t have flash mobs collecting all the cool turtle merchandise (due to socioeconomic factors) that used to be on display back when stores didn’t have to lock things like makeup and hair weaves in closed cabinets. Thankfully that’s all changed as we’ve made progress in current year. But I sometimes wonder if the cheesy ridiculousness of the 80s was a byproduct of things being so good that we could all safely be embarrassing together. It’s strange the way the media seems to push subversive messages that are destructive to society, community, the family unit, and our youth’s mental health these days, but I suppose that’s just what our western population wanted! Great channel, really fun TMNT related content that I’m sure kids of all ages will enjoy! As you can tell from my totally non-ironic username I’m a big fan of our youth. We need more channels like yours!

So... how young are you to think that the 80's was that safe for kids? More than some "teasing" at school... wow... I'm sorry... but you're so blind to the 80's and what was going on there... esp in the Detroit area, that you really don't have room to talk about. The bullying in the 80's was not just "teasing" it was being thrown in front of cars on busy roads, 15 to 30 kids ganging up at a time, the teachers standing by and not doing anything to protect the students.... police breaking up the fights only for the kids to say "I did it because my friends did it"... being hit into a pole to need stitches across the head. And the court shows response to bullying back then was "Kids will be Kids" basically saying that these bullies were allowed to get away with it. And you think things were not locked up at stores in the 80's??? Again, we're talking the Detroit area... near 8 mile road. Where people will come out of Detroit and shoot at the traffic at 8 mile road 3pm in the afternoon without ever being caught... killing people... bullet scrapped my forehead when I was 7... this was the 80's.... Yeah... the 80's were SO SAFE! You don't know the life that people go through, to walk in and just judge them... because you think you know, is wrong. And I know you don't know, because of your entire view of the 80's. Being an out cast was hard, was deadly.... not saying it's not deadly now, while some areas are being fixed like adults caring about the full bully thing, court shows turning punishment towards the bullies instead of dismissing the cases, other things have gotten worse like school shootings. No matter what part in time, while some areas might have it nice, others are going through a different struggle. And unless you live through those struggles, judging is a blind way of learning. The 80's for me... couldn't walk around the block without a fight, could not go to the local party store without being attacked, could not walk home from school without the police breaking up a fight, was not allowed to go out for recess because of the other students that was happening, was kept inside the school doing art projects for the school or sitting in a class alone waiting for class to start back up. Once I started Karate lessons, the fights stopped... but the bullying of others my age never did. They would attack from a far. Not saying this is how it was around the world, but it is how it was in the Detroit area.

It’s not impressive when she clearly has a problem..
@IveyAngelo
@IveyAngelo Год назад
Clearly has a problem? Not sure what the problem is to be a super fan.. as long as you take care of family, bills, friends and pets above the fandom. At that point, it's not the problem of the person with the fandom... the problem is that of those who judge them for sharing their passion.
