When Sasha said that Poison Ivy wanted to be “Queen of the Underworld”, it took me longer than I’d like to admit, to realise she meant “Queen of the Underworld...of Crime”; not that Ivy wanted to oust Persephone-and maybe marry Hades, as Greek Mythology is where my mind goes, when I hear the anyone talk about the “Underworld”.

Re: Robin's comment about Batman needing a cold shower--there was a "Year One" Annual showing Batman's first post-Crisis encounter(s) with Ivy (a panel of which appears at the end of this video). After first meeting her, Batman goes back to the Batcave and talks about her to Alfred while showering. When Bruce starts rhapsodizing about how beautiful she is, Alfred just goes over to the external shower controls and turns the dial to cold. 😁

Even though they were introduced as throwaway characters, i would love to see modernized/ fleshed out version of Silken Spider, Tiger Moth, Dragon Fly.

Bruce Wayne is a sportsman because he owns all the sports teams in Gotham 💡

I always LOVED this issue... just so campy. Plus it was the first Batman comic I'd read with woman villains, which I adored even though it's mostly just a sexist chick fight. I'd love to have seen Tiger Moth, Dragonfly, and Silken Spider escape into other comics of this era. Batman needs more lady villains!

This was amusing. Poison Ivy is one of those characters ,with really cool concepts, who's been really poorly characterized over the last 20 years into some bland "antihero"( hate that term). She *can* be written really well, and interesting, but it really does require quality follow up and consistency.

I wonder if that 'pop' art show was a reference to Andy Warhol's 'Americas most wanted men' which was a show for the 1963 world's fair it was portraits of the hottest male criminals from the FBIs most wanted list. But it was not displayed because of the fear of it's homoerotic overtones (or at least that was the accepted reason, it might be to keep women from being exposed to the hotness of these criminals)

I love that the introductions for most of the famous Batman villains were campy and over the top. Personally I feel Poison is more interesting than Penguin and Riddler, I think she works best as a morally ambiguous character instead of being a straight villain or hero.

I looked up Silken Spider because I'm a sucker for alliteration. It was weird because apparently there was a new Silken Spider on "New Earth" who was a member of the League of Assassins but her write-up is just her role as supporting character in Poison Ivy's origin and nothing about what what the rebooted version did, even though the picture is of the reboot version. dc.fandom.com/wiki/Silken_Spider_(New_Earth)

I believe in that theory that the Joker and Poison Ivy and Joker were an item. I Don't know why, but everytime Joker and Ivy are together in comics and cartoon, it seems there was something there, like they have sex and never speak of it again; they are immune to each other's poisons and for some reason hate each other's guts after Harley appeared.

A friend and I were just rating different Poison Ivy depictions in animated media (my fave being either The Batman or Harley Quinn, he liked the OG from BAS). We are both equally horrified of the Batman & Robin film look. Ivy is a lot more interesting with plant powers/green skin. I'm glad they're (most depictions anyway) finally updating her Betty Page look after so long, 'cause it's not like Robin's still running around in shorty shorts.

One of my buddy's "grails" is Batman 181 w/poster (shame you didn't mention that!) She was probably meant to be young kid cheesecake but "Grew" (get it??) into something much more. Harley is still my Queen, but Ivy has proven her worth over time, along with much better writing.

BRING THE FASHION VILLAINS BACK!! I want to see Dragonfly, Silken Spider, and Tiger Lady as fully fleshed out villains who are doing evil because they want to. Or at least, maybe Dragonfly is lashing out at people she considered to have mistreated her (including just kids or random outsiders who just came to Gotham); Silken Spider doing evils for the lols and lmaos; Tiger Lady doing evil because she needs to raise her two twin brothers after escaping from her abusive household. Poison Oaky (reference to Harley Quinn there lol) I mean Ivy is my favourite Batman villain (if you can still call her a villain) It was from Batman the animated series that got me into Poison Ivy and made her my favourite. I liked her character, her design and background origins, and her stories for that animated series, like when she teams up with Harley Quinn. I like the meta powers that she has now that I'm guessing she got in recent years since the animated series, then when she was first created back in the 60s. I also love that she isn't really a villain anymore but just wants to save the planet only kind of doing it in the wrong way leading Batman to come up against her to stop her. Also she's one of the best because in the Arkham games even though you have to fight her in the first game, in the third game she teams up with Batman (even if it's to save the plants and not Gotham or its people) she still makes the ultimate sacrifice, using all her powers to give to the ancient tree and in doing so kills her in the end. (She doesn't get enough credit for that in the game) So yeah there's just something about Poison Ivy that I love, and along with Batgirl you gotta love those redheads lol 😂
