Normally I strongly disagree with these Homelander comparisons but Superman enjoying watching his girlfriend get beat up felt reminiscent of how He and Queen Maive broke up
I love how the reason Lois figures out imposter Wonder Woman isn’t because she almost literally murdered her, but because she’s slightly stronger than usual.
You should totally check out Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane #51 next in your quest of Lois Lane's insane love life. Somehow Superman ends up marrying Lois, Lana, and Lori. AND THEN THEY ALL DIE AFTER THE WEDDING.
I misread it as 'Wonder Woman fights for Lois Lane with Superman' and assumed this week Lois will marry Diana and did a small cheer. Shocked that Lois isn't marrying someone this week
@@mray4784 In DC Bombshells, that Lois Lane got with that universe's Supergirl.... so maybe not to out of character :) Besides there's no age limit to finding love.
@@mray4784 Diana was considered straight for many years until she was made canon bi a few years ago. It's not uncommon for people who seem straight to actually be bi. Also, there are a lot more bi people on the planet, just underrepresented due to societal biphobia :/
1:05 The Hell? Aquaman and Green Arrow too? Oh God. I just imagined Aquaman secret Lois Lane museum. Nothing but mermaids Lois paintings and fish statues with Lois's face on them.
Well in all fairness she already knew the job. I doubt the rest were capable enough to handle paperwork, heck Jay isn't even good at his own job, smoking right next to chemical fumes and all. The rest tended to be single minded millionaires who pay people to handle paperwork and the Spectre would probably lecture about how paperwork is a immoral afront to God and people's word should be their bond. Long story short, Thank You Diana.
I said it once, i'm saying it again, Superman's kink is constantly being detailed as we go along, it's now entered into physical beat downs between his admirers, it's the only way he can feel. Lois figuring out the plan here makes think that if it was wonder Woman, sh was gonna roll back that embarrassing fight by sneaking up on her and firing a pistol at point blank range. We know Lois, we know her pettiness.
Has there ever been an issue where Lois tries to marry Clark to make Superman jealous? The comic would be shown from her perspective, and because she doesn't know the truth about Clark, Superman actually shows up at the wedding, naturally this would confuse the readers but in the end it is revealed to all be a dream Lois was having, either that or Batman was asked to disguise himself as Superman again for some reason. Has that ever happened?
Honestly replacing Wonder Woman was completely unnecessary. Superman is such a jerk here he would have probably marry the criminal cryptonian. Also why does Superman think his villains will kill his wife but not his girlfriend?
Superman was sadistic in watching "Wonder Woman" beat down the woman he claims to love and was thoughtless throughout this issue. I really don't know why Lois is desperate to marry him as he treated her like crap in this issue. Silver age Superman at times acts like a sociopath.
To be fair, everyone in the Silver Age was a sociopath. Lois herself treats Superman like shit too and constantly goes after other guys anyway. And Jimmy... Jimmy is just pure horror.
This era did inspire the whole concept of "Superman is a D**k," and a sadly no longer existing website devoted to all the covers and frequent full stories devoted to documenting Supes' absolute dickery, mostly toward Jimmy and Lois.
@@edwardphilibin3151 and he was absolutely the worst towards Lois. Sure he could be a pest towards Jimmy, but he wasn't as much of one in that regard. At least Jimmy actually got costumes to go on missions and try to be a proper sidekick on a regular basis..even joined the Legion of Superheroes. It just seemed to be with Jimmy that he needed to mind his timing and planet selections such as "don't be Superlad on a planet of telepaths".
I never really realized how borderline insane many of the Lois Lane stories were. I used to frequent on a site that focused on Superman's general dickery towards other heroes and people around him, but with Lois, he was on an entirely different level.
Omg. Superman/Clark is awful. Lois go see if Lex Luthor is still available or maybe that horse. Well on the plus side, at least Lois didn't get married again!
Just a reminder that superman is the guy who has a whole room full of lois statues in the fortress of solitude Like clark is obssesed by her but at the same time he couldint care less
One day, you're going to have to cover the history of the neck snapping's. Then you're gonna have to cover the Booster Gold comic where Booster goes back in time to save Ted, so that we can all group cry.
Honestly, after seeing this, I can see how parities of superman like Homelander came to be. Watching two people fight to the death for his affection is definitely something Homelander would do
It wouldn't surprise me at this point. Lois is gonna burn through the entire male population of Earth at some point... she's going to need fresh meat to marry.
'her time in the dungeon was allright' Wellllll, I think she wont be too put upon, considering this is well, wonder woman, the OG fetish-fueled superhero
Some A-1 Superdickery in this one. Also, man, the Phantom Zone really seems to be quite fragile. Just about anything that happens in space can bust a hole in it and let some of those Kryptonian criminals out.
Sasha you're too much fun, and I Love when you break into a chant, that's always a good time-"One of us, One of us!" I can clearly tell you always have fun here!
Your channel is the first and only one I have clicked on the bell for notifications. Thank you for putting a smile on my face as I watch your work. I appreciate the old school comics and the way you just destroy how they were written back then. 😂😂
That reminds me: there's a comic out there (Brave and the Bold, I think) where Batman's plan to catch Copperhead involves Batgirl and Wonder Woman fighting over him (Batman, not Copperhead)...
"Anyway, Lois had kryptonite on her that she got from Jimmy, and she tested it while they were dress-shopping.--"...Is it weird that I initially misheard this as, Lois and Jimmy were dress-shopping...?
8:37 imagine that back when this came out, the death of Wonder Woman but it’s not mentioned on the cover and it’s in Supermans girlfriend Lois lane, where she randomly goes to catch a nuke and misses and dies
now i kinda want to try writing a deconstruction of the whole Superdickery thing to the effect that Superman really DOES have that kind of personality but it has consequences like turning Lois into a supervillain and getting him kicked out of the Justice League or something
@@guilhermeborbabrito3664 it's more of a loose idea to _eventually_ write--i have a million-and-one _other_ things in the works too. master procrastinator that i am, though, nothing is in a publishable state XD
Wow, Superman was a douche in the sixties. I knew it was a fake WW, Diana is supposed to be someone who would fight fair, not fight dirty and cheat. Can you talk about the issue from the 60's with the Silver Swan?
To be fair, even with the knowledge of Wonder Woman being depowered , any villain wanting to kill Her would have to worry about an army of angry super strong Amazon women coming for their head for it.
Comic book writers are really not writing realistic characters with anything resembling human motivations or psychological reality. These are simple one dimensional creatures incapable of complex emotions. Basically a bunch of sociopaths bent on self gratification without consequences. It's hilarious how everybody is a different brand of completely insane. Superman and HIS asylum were just as nuts as Batman and his circle of lunacy.
Whenever I get annoyed at the Arrowverse for existing, I remind myself that Superheroes bumbling their way through petty relationship drama has been around since the Silver Age.
What about the Lois Lane versus Lana Lang battles? Or, the Lucy Lang/Jimmy Olsen perpetual dating problems (I mean...him changing form all the time, AND, his stint as a secret agent...) She put up with a lot!
I agree with everything you said... but also how was this Kryptonian woman able to wear a convincing Diana mask? She just rips it off her head like a cheap Halloween costume... wtf??? 😂😂😂
Man.... I really love to hate "Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane." Like the 60's were all about camp and not a lot of sense (thanks Fredric Wertham) but yeah, this series was just so over the top. It really makes Clark look like an absolute ass and Lois isn't much better depending on the issue. But it is interesting to see you do dives into these stories that writers apparently thought were A Okay back then... Loved the vid, no matter how bad, I'm down for these train wrecks, lol
In chemistry there is a triple point where a substance is solid, liquid and gas. This is a triple point story - for Lois Lane - (1) marriage, (2) jealousy rival, (3) wonder woman/superman shipping.
There was a huge vogue in the mid to late 60s of lunchtime discos and clubs I read an article by Tom Wolfe about it called "the noonday underground ' (it's in the collection called" the pump house gang" and is a great way to get a little bit of the cultural zeitgeist of the time)
