They probably want to keep the weight and complexity down. Neat idea though.

It’s biggest draw is the lack of troop carrying capacity compared to the UH-60 Blackhawk. It needs to lengthen the Fuselage of the aircraft. Also, I may be mistaken but there seems to be no room for crew chief/ door gunner. If they fix those issues I hope it replaces the Blackhawk in the 2020s

Peter Provenzano it’s probably geared more towards stealth than all out firepower. Plus this is still a WIP so you never no what they might slap on the side of it.

They have had this thing for a lot longer than two years already. The military challenged Sikorsky and other developers to push chopper tech to the next level. This is it... It is the fastest chopper in the world. I actually saw one of the prototypes when I worked a Sikorsky over four years ago, so who knows how long they have been in R&D. These have already been around for a minute though...

As for maneuverability, the RAH-66 Comanche was probably the fastest with the fastest snap turn than any helicopter that has ever been made, past and current.

That would be covered under the FLRAA which the valor won, that’s the competition to replace Blackhawk which bell already won when valor beat out defiant! FARA is to replace attack reconnaissance helicopter, mainly to fill the role of the Kiowa warrior retired a few years back!! I thought they was gonna replace the Apache as well but I don’t see it listed as being replaced under either of those programs so Nfs which one will fill it’s role eventually or if they’ll keep it but supposedly these two programs will replace chinook, Blackhawk, Apache, and Kiowa is what I heard originally. Of coarse Blackhawk and Apache being replaced will be a long way out because they have an improve engine upgrade plan competition going on as well as these two helicopter programs. Not only will that engine power Blackhawk and Apache but also the winner of the FARA so either the Invictus or the raider x. The prototypes are using the current engines so the winner will have better performance than the prototypes do. Out of the other competition the Valor used a similar version engine as the Osprey and the defiant x used chinook engines iirc so that program is the only one who wouldn’t get that engine. Anyways with the Valor winning to replace the Blackhawk I’d think it would be made SAR and Med Evac honestly!! With this program I could see a use for both Invictus or Raider x but sadly both can’t win, I think Bell has the better helicopter here but knowing how bureaucracy works since bell won the other program they will prolly give this one to Sikorsky and the Raider x which I love that helicopter too but as an attack/reconnaissance helicopter I think the Invictus is the much better platform!! Especially if they are looking for a Kiowa replacement because Apache has been filling that role and is putting to many hours on that platform and using it for missions it’s not needed.

I think there's a little bit of difference they said on an interview. X2 technology uses a "rigid" unbalanced co-axial rotor system, whatever the hell that means. Supposedly, it defeats the retreating blade stall on conventional helis and russian helis with the traditional articulated co-axial system. And with the addition of an independent pusher prop, it can go really fast.

Being able to show a consistent pattern of success over time is pretty important to anyone that isn't a fucking moron.
