Some meters that have AVG/ PEP with DC illumination, also power a true PEP circuit, other only power the lighting , and rely on a capacitor for PEP calculations rather than a powered true PEP circuit.. if the meter when switched to PEP does not work unless it has 12v then it is a TRUE PEP powered circuit, if the meter when on PEP does work without power then the meter is useless for PEP as it uses a capacitor ,,the values will be similar to AVG and a hoax. Cheers.
