The interviewer doesn't understand the song, even a little bit. Clearly the subject matter is dark and being served over a plate of steaming dark. It is true, one can take the song for it's purely sexual context and fantasize about the obsession being expressed. However, the "innocent" cartoon bits are thrown in for contrast. We enter the video as a very young woman wanders into the apartement, and likely the mind, of an older man. The childhood photo's and footage speak potentially to feelings fomented in a prepubescent past, and potential associated horrors grow the more we watch, however we might want to deny it. Meg is a musician, not an actress, yet the passonate approach and her truthful acting are spot on. We clearly know she's not lying to us. However bad or good the memories were that allow her to relive this right in front of the camera, the are as fresh in her mind, and in her retelling, as the day they were made.
