this game was a very big part of my childhood i had the snes version i remember not getting vary far but still loved this game i dont have the snes anymore but i do however have a sega cdx and i just got this version of chuck rock on ebay it will be here next week should be nostalgic and this play through will help me finally beat the game
Gotta love how the final boss is a T-Rex but they have him in underwear with hearts on it and they give him boxing gloves which he never uses at all lol
Now many many lifetimes later I find this review. A game I LOVED! I had a Sega Genesis, and then the Sega💿💿CD💿💿, and while the system itself died pretty quick, THIS GAME however was a TOP TITLE! I remember this introduction, due to the Sega💿💿CD💿💿there was this cool FMV (full motion video) that the cartridge didn't have. Overall a top top game. The console Wars in full blast. I owned them both. Loved them both. These were the BEST DAYS IN GAMING!
This was always a clunky game I never gave a chance but now that I see you can pick up rocks it is much fun & worth a lot of credit. Thanks for showing the play. Still hate that big caveman gets hurt by freshly hatched chicks tho.
While this port has this amazing music, has a wider color palette and uses bigger and more detailed characters, I think I'd still pick the Amiga version over this one. You can finish the Amiga one in about half of the time because the action is more fluid and faster. That one's also uncensored so you can watch Ophelia in all her splendor and at some point you even have to dodge the falling crap of a dinosaur taking a dump, lol. Anyway, this version is great and should not be overlooked.

The guy you mean is Gary Gritter. Either he could morph into a T-Rex (which I doubt) or the T-Rex was just its right arm and he couldn't do nothing after that but give Ophelia.
The genesis version has the best music, hands down. The loungy jazz treatment in this version just doesn't suit the game at all. It just lacks the OMPH the genesis version has.
Todd Hargosh agreed man, I think the composer was having a toke or two in the studio or something. To me it has this floaty spacy airy feeling which just doesn't sit right with me, where as the cart version is more sinister, dark, and sort of apocalyptic in tone while still managing to be upbeat.
While the SEGA Mega Drive has way more unique music, the music here is really rad too. One thing I do like more in the Mega Drive version is the sound effects.
