With my friendship with ttar now over, my new best friend is Dragapult What typing/ability would y'all give to a Mega Dragapult?

If we do get a mega dragapult, I really do hope it gets parental bond where the dreepy cause the secondary damage

For anyone who doesn’t know, Dragapult is based on the Dragapult is based on the Diplocaulus, an ancient amphibian that has a similar headshape

They had evolutions when they were alive but we don't know what they were because they were hunted to extinction before they could undergo it

If Z-A is taking place in the distant past ? It’ll be pretty cool if Dreepy gets a Variant/Convergent of it when it was actually alive (Pure Dragon type)

I wish that Sword/Shield had a Gigantamax form for Dragapult. It could've looked more like a naval warship and had a signature move where it fired over a dozen Dreepy missiles at the opponent. I'd rather have a regional variant of the Dreepy line be Water/Dragon type than make Dragapult Mega Evolve into a Water/Dragon type. For a hypothetical Mega Dragapult, my ideas for its potential ability are Super Luck, Clear Body, Infiltrator, Levitate, Cursed Body, Adaptability, Technician, Skill Link, Mega Launcher, Swift Swim, Speed Boost, or some other befitting ability.

Dragapult’s bond with its trainer results in the kind of confidence a parent has when leaving the kids with the grandparents. Dragapults trust ultimately results in the commanding of more dreepy. This form would be inspired by haunted air craft carriers. It would be dragon/ ghost type with an ability that plays on the phrase “Dead Sea” or “ghost ship”. I would think Dead Sea could boost ghost moves in the rain , while ghost ship would maybe boost defense or evasion in the rain. Just gave it a little thought. I obviously want dragapult to be good but not busted. Was thinking his mega form would have a more defensive spread

I feel like if we were to get any new forms for dragapult/it's line i feel that it would go one of 2 ways. 1. More compact more align with its stealth bomber thing. Similar to how Mega Salamance and Roaring Moon are small, body retracts closer etc. I'd even argue it becomes more shark like and like real world sharks, where as a megalodon was a massive entity the biggest apex predator larger then whales, where as modern great whites are significantly smaller because of how they evolved over time to survive. Or 2. It becomes an Absolute Unit!! It's no longer a small stealth bomber its an Aircraft Carrier or a massive battle ship destroyer that is able to Launch more Dreepy's and even Drakloak's. It just becomes this hulking beast slower and a water type more align to the dinosaur its based off (The Diplocaulus, which was Aquatic) it is now just this unstoppable force of nature that while incredibly slow and a large Target will annihilate everything in its path

It would be so cool if the life energy of mega evolution temporarily restored the dragopult back to life - turning it water / dragon But now in a new stronger version of its previous life, it looses its kindness and become angry and vindictive, wanting to prove it could have been strong enough to survive

That's so interesting though. The thought that Mega evolution can revive or even grant a pokemon life. Tera is pretty powerful too, can almost override the typing of a ghost pokemon and give it something that traditionally has "alive" pokemon.

Personaly instead if a mega for dragonite id love to see it get a regional form. Like for another region and how it interacts in a different enviroment.

When I was a kid and didn't know much english, everything was so interesting about pokemon, but now as an adult I know every corner of this franchise and there isn't this sense of discovery. So basically, dragapult is based on the stealth bomber, I would adding more dreepes, giving it pitch black color, and more aerodynamic body style would be cool. For Dragon water, they can make it like stealth submarine body style, with dreepes as typhoons.

Maybe Dreepys were Tatsugiris but without the protection of Dondozos at the time 🤪

In my opinion, it sounds more like you're referring to a regular evolution concept rather than a temporary thing that is reliant upon them having a trainer and only happens for a short time during a battle. 7:17

You oughta talk about Flygon, Dragapult is too farfetched and can already hang with the Megas anyways.

I'd think change the type largely and give it fairy/ghost after mega evolution. Also, if the theory of it being a weak one stage pokemon when it was alive and only evolved after dying then this new theory could have some hope for other useless pokemon currently available to gain ghost type after dying and possibly reaching full potential as a ghost type.

I'd say give it more of a blastoise concept except give it an actual catapult, lower the speed abit and increase defense and attack and give it the ability mega launcher (ironically clawnchers ability that it used to prey on) and maybe give it a new move, similar to population bomb, called bombardment or something (which works with mega launcher)(kinda like a one hit wonder where it keeps firing at you and faints once it misses, and give the move 90% accuracy, so it will eventually miss) (you can't give it an item to boost the accuracy since itl already be holding a mega stone) Thus either it will act as an offensive destiny bond or it will fail to take out the other pokemon and faint before (ghost type)

I think Dragapult should get an X and Y Mega. Dragapult being based on the Diplocaulus, an extinct amphibian with both having a similar shaped skull should make Mega Dragapult X Dragon/Water. Mega Dragapult Y should remain Dragon/Ghost. The X forms have an added/changed typing to them as we see in Charizard and Mewtwo.

Dragapult is not going to be in Legends Z-A. The game will have gen one to six pokemon with a few new species. Also Dragapult doesn't need a mega evolution. Or any pseudo legendary. We don't need new mega evolutions.

No dude. You're being painfully literal. Stop trippin'. Really. Ghost type doesn't necessarily refer to a Pokemon being dead - it may refer to a Pokemon being in tune with the spirit world (H. Typhlosion) - or being a spiritual entity (Froslass) - or being out of phase with (our) reality (Giratina). I'd put Dragapult in the same camp as H. Typhlosion or Giratina. Also Dragapult is based on a stealth bomber. It's Ghost typing meant to be a play on being difficult to detect - being a phantom or whatever. Phantom entities don't need to be dead. They're just out of phase with everything else.

If Dragapult got a mega, then the writers need to bring Leon back into the Pokémon anime since he used that Pokémon during his full battle against Ash in the finals of the Masters Eight Tournament.
