Of course it's catching gold! Hell, I could dry wash concentrates in a clothing dryer and catch hold in the lint trap. Running fresh, unknown ground though... Nothin beats the flow of H2O... If all you can do is dry wash though, I'd still take it.

What do your test pans look like for color count before drywashing? I've got a few good spots in Cali. Always wondered what we'd get if we moved volume with a dredge or highbanker but being it's not been legal, I've not done so in (these) spots.
Thats a really tough question to answer, we will usually vacuum , and run overburden separately then just calculate how much gold per 5 gallon bucket we will get. Pretty soon you`ll know your average for an entire area.
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK that's a good strategy! We pretty much don't have gold on the bedrock. It's in about 3inches of hard pack but might be able to do the same thing you're doing
We dont seems to have that issue Chris . We also vacuum out the boxes under the riffle trays and theres usually some ultra fine gold there too. If there is any loss , its minimal compared to recovering over 2 ounces... Have a great trip To Alaska! sounds really fun !
Back in the 1800s dry washing was just a newish thing and very few companies were making them with any success but miners that were using the good ones were very successful. Most were using rocker boxes where water was available.
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK that's great to hear because we have so little water and it's such a paint to bring in water for recirculation. And the water gets to muddy. @@wildwestadventures3583 Drywashing is the best way in dry conditions. period. Water recovery systems are a major pain and have to many components to them.
You're younger and stronger than me, I usually run around 10 buckets through the trommel and Goldwell then I'm beat. But 1-2gr a day and I'm happy. 👀🤔🤠⛏🌵

Thanks for showing the flow rate over the riffles. Why people keep that a huge secret is beyond me. There’s plenty of gold out there to go around where we use dry washers. I’d like to know what goes into deciding your angle of the bottom? I adjust accordingly for the material I’m running but do you have a baseline that you start from or do u wait for a clean out to see if anything is making it to the bottom ruffles and adjust? That’s sometimes what I end up doing but I generally go a little cold on aggressive angle and just go a little slower especially since I’m working old trommel sites lately where the gold is stupid small and even wind can lift it away with the dust from the hopper. I took three pieces of rubber and extended a chute down to the breaker area to keep dust down to a minimum and it seems to help a little but if it’s windy I’m a bit screwed anyhow.
Yeah, the angle can fluctuate. I guess theres a starting point around 45 degrees. If the gold is to far down there may be an angle issue, to much air, over vibration. Remember that as the heavies build up in the trays , the angle of the tray gets steeper, and you may need to raise the chain a bit.

You guys are spot on, when your dry washer is dialed in it really works. Just think how much water you would have to haul to run all the material you ran! Great video and Epic Gold.
i've learned a lot from your videos and appreciate the time you take to make them! 1 question though, have you ever tried using a raised screen on the last riffles and dampen the air flow on the last few riffles, or is that just bogus info? tia...nt
Well there does not seem to be a reason to do that. The air flow should be low anyway, and thats the number one issue I see with drywashers. The air is usually on way to high.

Operating correctly is the answer. Not too steep, not too fast feed and not too much air. The inefficientcy is from operator error and improper set up. Great video guys.😎⛏⛏🔥🔥

Well thats always tough . I would find a local prospecting club to join. They usually have claims you can go on legally to look for gold. AMRA is a good one but the roadrunners have the most claims in Arizona ...like 300 to chose from.
The 151 is the best Dry Washer on the market. The later models have been over engineered , but they are the most stable platform when compared to other brands.
Another great video from some excellent and successful prospectors. This video was good for me as I was recently out and I trust my drywasher more so after this viewing.
Maybe there's still hope for my little 141s LOL, it's not the machine with my limited experience but all the conditions, setup, gold bearing locations and perseverance. Thanks you two for all the videos I've followed you with.

Yeah , the problem is that all the gold is not in the pan at the same time. It is separated in segments....Ultra fines being the most challenging . So a jar of nuggets , jar of pickers, jar of fines. Thanks for watching Mike !
All the old mining books frm Rose to Taggert only rate the dry washer at 80-85% effective. Numerous dry washer "tails" both old and new have yielded gold through out my years as a miner. Most of what i've seen is impatience on the operators behalf or trying to make the machine do something it was not meant to do. For instance my old Royal dry washer will concentrate easily 200 lbs.an hour. I know shovelling i can do 6-800 lbs. in an hour. I once shoveled 22 500lb. muck buckets in a 10 hr day (was much younger than) so i know i can shovel more but for a dry washer to work properly it must ,what i call "breathe". Even we humans must do that. Through the years i've learned to slow down and smell the roses. I'm now 65 and have recently inquired about a "puffer". Quiet, peaceful, and best of all a chance to see nature around me while i quietly go about my business. Also, on many you tube videos you see almost all the cons going down one side or the other, you can overwhelm your riffles that way because your only recovering with half of what potentially could be 100 %. Pay attention and make sure you are set up level and your "box" aint to steep. Mining like assaying is both an art and a science, only you can make a perfect picture out of what your dealing with. Sometimes you have to throw away the "manufacturers""" suggested and experiment on your own Hey, Great video(s)!
Thanks for the great info , but the 80-85% recovery may have been accurate back in the old days and even worse than that but today with the right machine , and knowledge its easily 95+
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK Both my friends and i have metal detected dry wash tailings and have come away with gold left behind at numerous outings of the G.P.A.A. and other clubs. Nuggets and pickers. All were using the top of the line machines.
@@richardbeee THey are not using the machines correctly . Almost no one does . Understand that we have run literally thousands of buckets through these machines and have perfected dry washing over many years. Most guys have hardly run but a few buckets , with no experience.

It’s funny I’m setting here at midnight watching Gold Rush they are in Arizona also I hope to get out there in late summer or beach mining in Nome Alaska I’ve never tried dry washing but I really want to try it

There are no clays to break down. I would only worry about it if the the clays were carrying enough gold, otherwise id run what I could and take the loss
33 clean outs makes my back hurt thinking about all that work so how long did it take to learn how to set up and run it correctly for you guys? Just curious for when I get one. Almost 2 grams a clean up on average is crazy good thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
You could actually see the material going over the riffle working it's way to the bottom before the next riffle and not surfing over the top of the material. Good job!

Like there saying more vibration isn't better, adding the air gate to get massive vibration and having to crank up your blower way high doesn't make sense to me,wish they still sold the regular 151 new
