"A Second Chance for Revenge! The Fallen Fight Back!"
If you've been watching the playthrough from the beginning, you know that some of the hardest things to avoid in this game have been specific attacks from our bosses. So when you throw all eight of them at Mega Man in the same stage and then top it off with a two-phase finale on top of that, you could have some trouble. We... had some trouble with this one.
The combo of Quick and Air Man were just devastating. The twin low jump strike from Quick, the near-perfect timing you need to dodge those two tornado formations? Yeah, that was the majority of the failure here, but don't worry. Every single boss hit me at one point in this run, including two very painful moments where our final attack missed the mark that would've cut the time down on this one by an hour.
Mega Man 2 is not a friendly game at times to those that want to do no-damage runs. As infamous as the Boobeam Trap was, the Wily Machine kind of tops it as I've never seen footage of anyone dodging that more than one bouncing ball at a time attack here. It's either finish the fight before that point or get got.
A little more than four hours were spent on this four-minute stage, the second video in this series to take me longer than all six Robot Master stages in Mega Man 1 did combined and an all-time record for the amount of time it took me to do a no-hit clear of a single stage. But getting through this means we've gotten through this game's worst. Next time is the final time, and I already know how that one goes. See you there!
