I have mixed feelings about mega man 4, fixed rush, mega buster good stuff, then there is the fact that is not very creative and wire adapter and balloon adapter are cool but useless because you already have rush
The Anniversary Collection version of Mega Man 4 doesn't have Rock's way too long of a pause between sections of dialogue. I feel so cheated. Also, wouldn't it be funny if, instead of the Wire Adaptor at the bottom of the secret pit, it was spikes? Very mean, but funny. Like that wondrously evil disappearing block in Plug Man's stage (I'm pretty sure) in Mega Man 9.
Here's the fun thing about Bright Man: he only does his time freeze when he's at 16, 8 and 4 health. So if you manage to avoid putting him at these points of damgage (shoot him once, then exclusively hit him with the fully charge Mega Buster) you only have to deal with his JUMP N SHOOTing. Same goes for if you do have his weakness, Rain Flush: shoot him once with a regular pellet, then let the paddling begin.
It's always good to see love for MM4, it's often sold short for being more of the same and not being 2, or 3, despite all the polish and refinement in this one.
I'm going to tell you something you will not believe but it is the truth. When I finished mega man II and started playing mm3 i wrote a letter to capcom and thanked them for making such awesome games. I said that what megaman needed was a grappling hook to use to swing over pits and catch himself with when he falls. They sent me a bright pink capcom hat(just what a boy wants) and then used my idea to create the horrible wire adapter. I swear i'm not making this up. i'm still waiting for my royalty check...
You know GeminiLazer I like that even after almost 3 Years your own video being uploaded you still comment on other peoples comments. Makes it a whole lot more enjoyable to watch these and look at the comments. :D
@GeminiLaser thanks for responding. Also, sorry it took so long to say thank you, but I couldn't access my account for a little while due to something(I believe) that had to do with the firewall.
Mega Man 4 was the second one I ever played, almost 20 years ago. I never owned it for the NES but got it in the collection for GameCube and beat it lots of times. And until I watched these vids a couple years ago, I had never even HEARD of the Wire or Balloon adaptors. Many thanks to you for showing me something new about am old game!
I actually remembered that megaman 4 was your favorite megaman game. That was a detail from 4 years ago in 2014 that I remembered. It has a great final boss
Hey Gem, dunno if you know yet but Bright Man's Flash Stopper is tied to his HP. Once he reaches a certain amount, he'll use the move BUT if you cause enough damage that his health bar skips over the exact HP amount Bright Man needs to do the Flash Stopper, he won't do the attack at all.
I love the wire adapter. I always start w/ Dive Man just so that I can have a utility very early into the game. ( I even did some of the glitches you did. They're fun!)
i must say that you are one of my fav youtubers...I've been watching since my old channel (Seganinja84) and i really love you're content, I have a very nostalgic connection for megaman back on the NES and you're videos really bring me back to that...i am super excited for MM7 and keeping my fingures crossed that it isn't the year 20XX by the time you get to the MegaManX games...until then, you keep classy Nathaniel!
@GeminiLaser when u fought dive man, where u just extremly lucky or is it more? like that he always used the dive missiles after he charges,, cuz when i fight him, he charges more than once in a row and that can make him tough
I found another similarity! In both Mega Man 2 and 4, there is a stage that has blue background both (Ring, Crash), and in BOTH of these stages, the blue fades to black at some point! Totally insignificant! =D
It's also partially due to palette limitations. In the intro, they have multiple sprites with different palettes in order to achieve the blue hair (among other details), but in actual gameplay, there's way too much going on to have some extra sprites for Mega Man. His sprite is already made up of two: the body and helmet/hair, and his face. They decided to be simple and use just the black in his body's palette for the hair, though they could've used the darker blue. Whatever. I'm not Capcom.
You know what I've always wondered? How do you keep the sound and music consistent in between edits or jumps, like the one in Diveman's stage (and by extension, when showing the split paths in MM6)? Is it an editing trick, or something to do with the emulator? ....Or is it a deep, dark, and magical secret? o.o
Geminilaser you are my favorite RU-vidr!! I had a question for you! Who's your favorite robot master from mega man 2? Mine it woodman because he's just so adorable…am I weird. 😋🤗
I never understood the hate for the stages in Megaman 10, they have alot of creativity, (I'm looking at you, Sheepman, Commandoman, and Wily stages. I wish more people appreciated them.
In the Game Gear version... if Bright Man jumps on you after freezing you a glitch will happen where you are invincible... but frozen and he keeps on jumping on you. You can't move and you have to reset....
I have NEVER seen Dive man do that pattern. Every time I've fought him he would move left and right really quickly, so no matter even if I jump over him, I'm still going to land on him. Were you just extremely lucky or am I doing something wrong?
what i like about the engine in megaman 4, is that you can jump out of the slide by pressing the jump button without pressing down (you can not do this in mm5 and mm6). you were able to do that in mm3, but if you press the jump button repeatedly AND hold down, you don't jump out of the slide in mm4, but in mm3 you do.
I know this is a long time after the original posting, but for Bright Man, if you shot him with one normal pellet shot, you can use charge shots for the rest of the fight and he will never use the Flash Stopper against you.
Hey I don't know if you know it already (saw it at RoahmMythril's perfect run), but Bright Man usese his Flash Stopper when he has 12, 20 and 24 units of energy lost.
@GeminiLaser after taking 12, 20 and 24 Damage. Makes the fight extremely easy since you just need to hit him once for 1 or an odd number of damage and then do the rest with rain or fully charged
@GeminiLaser I know you like to nit-pick so here's one. In the beggining cutscene Mega Man has blue hair yet at the end credits he has Brown/Black hair. And yes this game is awsome!
I know I am a little late on this, but did you know that is you try to shoot while using submarine rush, your shoots goes under your arm? like if you were shooting from your feet :D
Megabuster was probably added in response to that invincibility frame of bosses added in MM3. Many MM2 suckers dislike the megabuster eve tough in MM2 you could rapid fire bosses with the normal buster since bosses had a much smaller invincibility time after each hit.
I keep hearing that if you have at least 5 lives and you die 4 times in the same spot (probably down the same hole over and over) you get something called a super blaster. Can you please tell me if it works in the NES version of mega man 4?
Diveman is a hard one IF you let him go on his own for too long (not shooting all the time). The missiles are everywhere and it's hard going to down to shoot him and actually get any damage down! He starts to play YOU which isn't the case with many other bosses that just continues in the same way regardless if you shoot or not!
I gotta say, Mega Man 4 is my favorite in the series, just barely beating Mega Man 10 for that title. The reasons for that are that the weapons are more useful, and the soundtrack is better. I mean, how many practical uses can you think of for Thunder Wool as compared to Drill Bomb?
@GeminiLaser Well, there was a time when nobody knew who ANY game character was. For example, Mario. He's the king now yes, but what about when you are young? Say....5? You don't know who ANY game character is! But you still sat down and played it, and you eventually found somebody great
Mega man 4 also is one of the better games in the series IMO. But to be honest, every mega man game (except 7 and 8) are at the top of my favorite games of all time.
Hey GeminiLaser did you know that if you shoot bright man with an uncharged shot with the mega buster then only use the rain flush or charged buster shots then bright man will not use the flash stopper? The reason behind this is that bright man uses the flash stopper at 16 health, 8 health, and 4 health. *insert the more you know clip*
I can't start with Bright Man. ^_^ His stage, and his battle especially. I can get through the stage, but never kill Bright Man without his weakness. XD
00:40...I almost died laughing. I seriously enjoy these videos, dude. This was actually my first Mega Man game. Can't wait for Mega Man 7 videos to come out..when are you expecting them to be up?
I respectfully disagree. It's new because the chargeable weapon known as the Mega Buster didn't exist before MM4. MM1-3 call your default weapon "P" on the menu screen. MM4 refers to it on the menu screen as "M. Buster," and not "N. Mega Buster" or somesuch. MM3's instruction manual calls your default weapon the "Arm Cannon"; MM4's instruction manual calls it the "Mega Buster." The only official mention I've ever seen of "new" is in the intro to Mega Man 4, where it makes sense to say, "powerful new Mega Buster," like you would say, "powerful new Flash Stopper." It's not the New Flash Stopper simply because "new" was next to it in a sentence. And the fact that "NEW MEGA BUSTER" is on a separate line of text in the intro should not be construed as that being the proper name of the weapon; the spacing and text breaks in the American NES intro are atrocious. You'll notice in the Anniversary Collection and in the original Famicom intros, all the text flows normally and doesn't put "NEW MEGA BUSTER" centered on a separate line. Now, if you've got any evidence to the contrary, I'll gladly take a look, but I strongly suspect "New Mega Buster" is either a misconception or a retcon.
For Mega Man 1-3, his primary weapon is known as the Plasma Buster, hence the "P" icon in the Weapon Energy selection screens. Starting with Mega Man 4, the "Mega Buster" was used instead of the "Plasma Buster." 😊
Did you know that Bright Man's Flash Stopper is controlled by his HEALTH? He fires it once at 16HP, at 8HP, and at 4HP. All you really need to do is avoid those critical numbers to beat the cheater!
I'm the same way; you can actually do that with this game, unlike some others that are practically impossible or at least extremely unpleasant without the right weapons.
@GeminiLaser Oops, the video's actual title is "Roahm Mythril vs. Bright Man - The Revenge". I'm used to shortening long names like that (like "New Super Mario Brothers Wii", which I usually just shorten to "Super Mario Wii"). You can search "Bright Man Revenge" and the same vid will appear, though.
I found out a trick that will end bright man's cheating. If bright man has taken 12, 20, or 24 damage, he'll use flash stopper. So to keep him from using it, give him 11 damage then use rain flush or a fully charged shot. Hopefully that helped.
