I agree completely. I was a casual Mega Man fan (loved MM 2 & 3) but never got very far into the X series until recently. These games are awesome! 👍🏻

I don't understand how this collection on Switch got 2.7 stars outta 5 on Best Buy, days before release!!! You can't trust many reviews these days.

Btw Shawn, X8 has more playable characters that you can unlock. There's a few armors for X. Everybody can get upgraded too.

Got both for Ps4 pro all day. X4 is the best hands down. I use to play that back in the day on the PS1 all the time. It's a must have a classic.

Why X8 wasn't this popular? Because people had a really bad taste in their mouths since X7... but the game corrected a LOT of issues: - Better voicework - More responsive gameplay (seriously, dashing in X7 didn't do much) - Better level designs - *Mega Man X being playable from the start* (X had to be unlocked in X7)

10:41 This is exactly why I did some research, the Rockman X Anniversary Collections in Japan (This is actually what they are called over there.) BOTH got physical releases if you bought them separate. If you bought the 2 pack however, it'd still be a download code. But at least there's an OPTION to get X5-X8 physically, and you can change the menus and game versions to English so it's a win win for me. It's still hilariously stupid why CAPCOM feel the need to keep forcing us to download halves of their collections. (Megaman Legacy Collection 2, RE: Revelations 2, and now in most territories Megaman X Legacy Collection 2.)

I have the PS4 version of this collection, and this collection made me become a fan of the X series. Before that, I only played bits and pieces of the series, but this collection allowed me to fully commit to the X series, which I wanted to play the most out of the other Mega Man games, and while I wasn't a fan of X7, and X6, I enjoyed, but it was a big mess with sloppy level design, piss easy boss fights, and typos out the wazoo, the collection is rock solid in my opinion, and it is worth a look if you want to get into the series. I finished all the games, and I'm honestly very happy I did, even though some of it was more soul crushing than fun, but it made me want to play the other games in the series, and I can't thank the X series enough for that, especially with the collection being the most convenient way to play all those games.

I pre-ordered my copy from japan, both collection coming out on cartridges.

X3 on the SNES was the pinnacle of the franchise. Totally badass.

Just booted the games up. Now THIS is how you do a collection. The type 1 screen filter looks excellent on modern T.Vs , even in full screen mode. They should patch th SF anniversary collection with this filter and include it in all retro game collections moving foward.

Always enjoyed the 'classic' MM series that started everything but never got around to playing the X games (aside from a few stages of MMX 1). After playing this compilation, I can honestly say I was missing out, this is great stuff, especially the SNES games. Hope to see an MMX 9 some day.

It has been a very long time since I've played the Mega Man X Series and I also enjoyed X8 but didn't understand the huge backlash it seemed to spark in fans. Seeing your reaction solidified my own thoughts towards the game.

You brought up a great point RGT. I can NOT stand the cartridge plus a download code.. so I took the advice and just got it all digitally, so I can have it everywhere no matter what. Despite regretting terribly not having another physical copy to add to my shelf.. I just don't wanna deal with that Capcom game splitting bs :(

on the PC there are some problems No Audio options Can't change screen size / resolution during the game Can't bind L2 and R2 triggers while playing X 1-3 with an xbox contoller (how ever you can bind them during challenge mode) My iBufflo USB SNES controller does not work well

I'm glad X8 is finally getting the love it deserves, such and underated gem. It's my favorite MegaMan hands, just wait to get the Sigma sword and Black Zero it's just incredibly cool.

As a MegaMan X myself , I love this collection and the games were great ! The art work and the product gallery's were epic. Plus the day of sigma ova from Maverick hunter x psp game. Though I wish they'd included the command mission and Maverick hunter x in the collection . ❤️❤️😎

X8 was one of the first game I got when I bought my PS2 back in the day. I really liked X8 but I dont know why many people dont talk about that game and some dont even like it.

Will not buy any Game or Collection that is not full on the Cartridge.....this stuff has to stop and we can vote with our wallet.

RGT 85 PLEASE WATCH The character you play as throughout the X games is NOT Megaman, it’s X X is a creation Dr. Light made for the future, X is a character that has the ability to make human decisions and replicate emotions like a human Megaman is dead and was killed by Zero in between the Megaman and Megaman X series, Zero is the second playable character in X4 and he turned into a hero after the Virus inside of him was extracted and given to the main villain Sigma So yeah Dr. Light, Megaman, Roll, Rush, Octo, Protoman, Bass, Dr. Wily And etc. are all DEAD and Zero was Dr. Wilys last creation We later find out in X2 that Wily uploaded his conscious into technology like a Virus and he has multiple bodies, although you do finally kill him in Megaman Zero 4 a series set after the X games in which X and all the other characters are dead except Zero who is alive due to the fact he put himself to sleep for 100 years It’s kinda crazy thinking that Zero is the successor of X who is the successor of Megaman who is the successor of Dr. Light who’s arch enemy is Dr. Wily who is also Zeros creator and Zero kills him Which really ties a knot around a perfect story

Hey RTG...About the Nintendo switch cart size stuff, here's some stuff I dug up. According to PSN, both parts of the X collection total size is about 21.3 GB. Part 1 is 9GBs , while part 2 is 12.3GB. Looking at the Nintendo Switch versions, it appears that they are 3.0GB for part 1 and 6.5 GB for part 2. I also looked up the Insane Trilogy download size for the PS4 and it appears that it is 23.32 GB, but the Switch version, from what I could find, is only 5.2GB in size. Nintendo currently produce Switch carts in 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 GB configurations, with a 64GB version in the works. I'm not sure if they use some kind of heavy compression routines to reduce file sizes or if they simply use lower res textures and what not to achieve this since it doesn't appear there is any actual difference in content, but based on that I think it would make sense that they did this purely to keep the cost of production down for physical copies so they can maintain that budget price range. That sucks for Switch owners given the on board storage is anemic, but I would have to imagine that a 4 - 8 GB cart is probably the closet they can get to keeping in the same price range it would take to produce on a Blu-Ray.

X8 is probably the most underrated Mega Man game there is. I loved the gameplay style it introduced. It was familar but yet modern. I wanted another game of that style but it sadly never happened.

You are literally the ONLY person who mentioned X8 being a good game so far which was right. X8 was a phenomenal game but due to X7 bad PR, it was underperformed.

Capcom must of bought a wholesale of the small size switch carts. That’s why they must be doing half physical half digital on their games. They have to get rid of them first before ordering big size ones.

I'm definitely looking forward to buying his collection real soon. I think Konami should do a Castlevania collection. I will like to see the PS2 versions of Castlevania remade and the handheld versions of Castlevania remakes.

I ALMOST bought the physical version. I've been wanting a way to preserve my internal switch memory for the past few months. Until I thought to myself that I wanted to play the first collection only so I just bought the digital version which is actually not that big in terms of file size. Still, to those collectors, this is a no-go which. I don't understand this, why did Capcom split the game into 2 volumes? They could've just put in all the X games into 1 cartridge and charge us 40$ for it.

Oh yeah I forgot Megaman X7 and X8 do have a plus game option I forgot about that so they are also part of the New Game Plus game play titles

I don't know if you know this but there's a lot of people that don't know one thing about X8 is you can use all its cheat codes at once and then you can actually save them unlike other Megaman X Games like x 4 x 5 x 6 you could only use one cheat code but Megaman X8 allows you to use all the cheat codes and then save them and then you can play the game oh and if you're willing to put in the extra effort in rookie mode you can use it to play the introduction stage after you beat one of the bosses in the game the introduction stage while on Lock and then you can play the introduction stage over and over again and use it to grind for money so that you can use the three Navigators as playable characters

Man, it was a big surprise seeing those buildable figures, I used to collect them when I was a little kid and still have them. It took me forever to find the X that launches the ball out of his x-buster but it was my favorite!

One thing, there's a physical version for X Legacy 2 that only released in Japan. Thankfully it's in english so you can import one from Amazon or Play-asia.

Watching this in 2024 because I'm thinking about getting it. And the fact that I'm watching this five years after this review was uploaded speaks volumes, because your word has enough credibility to me to sway my decision. And after watching this I am definitely picking it up. And with vol 1&2 being 7.99 each, on sale right now, it is well worth it.

What about the message in the X collection saying the fight of X is not over yet I'm hoping that means a X9 one day As for the collection itself X6/X7 are the only games of the collection that are plain bad The other are Good

Umm, you might want to read Ars Technica’s analysis on all 4 platforms (including PC) - particularly the part where they found performance issues in the Switch version that weren’t present on PS4/Xbox ONE.

Hi RGT, I really like what you do and regularly watch all your videos. I was hyped for the Mega Man and Mega Man X games on Switch, but sadly what I retain from their release is what you say at the end of this video: CAPCOM playing cheap on us. They could have easily fitted the whole X collection on one cartridge, I mean it is not as heavy as Wolfenstein. So what I will do with this is I won't buy now. I Will wait for a price drop for the physical release OR the digital release. Because there is almost no point in getting the physical release, as always CAPCOM with their stupid logic have put the lightest game on the cartridge and the heaviest one is to be downloaded. Hence they ship a cartridge that is mainly empty... Anyway, I recommend you guys to wait a price drop on this game. I have also made an angry topic about this situation. Because we need to raise our voice about this. CAPCOM is not the only one doing this but they are still the champions in this category. Got the switch version last night to get back into my only nes mm games: 2 + 3:...I'm facing some micro-lag that's messing up some of my jumps to disappearing blocks and dodging falling crushers. I only play in handheld mode, with no filters.

The fact that capcom chose to be cheap on the switch cart cost them a sale at least from me. both games are under 22 gigs combined the largest current switch cart is 32 gigs. there’s no reason other that being cheap for both games not to be on the cart. not to mention the fact that they left command mission out entirely.

I'm a bit miffed at the lack of Euro PS1 MMX3 & PSP only MMX1 remake, Maverick Hunter X. I really enjoyed those updated versions of 2 of this collection's games. Capcom always coming up short on their collections these days.

Been playing the Mega Man X1/X2 Legacy Collection for a while now and it's an amazing way to revisit these games. Mega Man X7 is the only bad game, but besides that, great collection and series for sure. Also Mega Man X8 is one of my favorites, despite people saying 3D ruined Mega Man X.

The only reason why they don't put both games on the cartridge on switch, is because they are handled as 2 separate games. And you cant have 2 separate games on 1 cartridge on switch for some reason. Obviously they could compile it into a single game which lets you select both at the start. But then there would technically be 3 different games on the Eshop. So this is the reason, not that they are cheap.

I’m about to buy a used Collection X 1 and Collection X 2 but I want to know if you can reuse the code to download the second part?

Grabbed the Switch copy today. Given that I still have the Gamer's Club at Best Buy, I'll most likely pick it up on the PS4 as well to have that second disk.

X1 and X2 are my favorite. The Haduken and the Dragon Punch respectively.

People need to stop bitching about the download code and comparing to ps4. Ps4 and xbox each have two discs. Carts are more expensive than discs. If they did separate like Japan, not only would they have cost more than $40 total here in US (at least 24.99 or higher per game like Japan did), but it would have also been ripe for resell. The people that get up in arms about a code are a minority. Most people only care when it takes up a lot of space. And I'm a physical collector. I bought the Japanese versions and a US version. If it bothers you so much, play on another console.

I've already preordered this game well in advance, just waiting on Amazon to send it. This game isn't the first time Capcom has decided to make you download a game instead of putting it on the cartridge. I have Resident Evil Revelations for the Switch, and you have to download the 2nd one there too.

You're complaining why there is no physical release for X Collection 2? Capcom is sure that most people don't want it anyway so why waste money making a cartridge for it?

Apparently, the second part is a download probably because the same goes with the PS4 version.

I have always been more excited about the Mega Man X series on Switch than classic, just because I've played the classic games on so many platforms. Luckily the Nintendo Switch has both!

The question is do I buy it on PS4 or Switch? The only downside is the UK has no physical version.

Why capcom doesn't include 2 carts or put it all on 1 cart: If it was all on 1 cartridge then from what I gather they couldn't have 2 different SKUs in the eshop/etc Why they didn't include 2 carts: Because you'd sell the one you don't want. And we all know a lot of X fans don't like X6 or 7 so there's not a huge reason to keep that cart once you've tried it again. They're more expensive than discs too. Is any of this a good reason? No. Especially since the Japanese market has a choice.

Would the value of the x collection increase if it *didn't* include the later entries?

I dunno if I'll get it yet. I had X1-3 on the 3DS and I dunno if I wanna replay 'em again. Also, I dunno if anything from the Legacy Collection 2 is worth it. I might buy it once I'm done with some of the main games I need to finish.

So back in 2006 capcom fit the first 6 X games plus a bonus racing game on a Gamecube disc. Fast forward to 2018 and half the games have to be downloaded? Are Switch cards that limited for space? Weird. I want to buy it but downloading half the games? I think i'll pass.
