darkest game. while the four games are the darkest of all megaman games, the first one easily stands out. It deals with much more serious issues and the overall mood is more depressing.
I guess so. Zero kinda wanders around at the end until the opening of 2. 1 also had actual blood when you killed the enemies, although I think all the Japanese versions had blood too.
The other games are more hopeful. In this game, the resistance is desperate and are backed into a corner. That this song is more or less the very FIRST thing you hear in the game says it all. They're more established and secured in the later games, which is why the music is also more upbeat.
I like how crash becomes more and more trivial through the Zero series. It starts epic and each game it becomes more and more flick of the wrist like it’s easier for Zero.
For me, this theme is perfect for the four guardians. Like, they were created from a benevolent reploid for the greater good but were repurposed by a copy of said reploid to become genocidal towards their own kind. In other words they aren’t evil themselves but are following the wrong orders unknowingly. I sense a lot of lore from them.
Presuming a good and benevolent X once ruled Neo Arcadia. It's possible many of the bosses Zero fights in the series were once not so cut and dry villains. We know its the case with the Gentle Judges, at least. It's just once Copy X got in charge he started pushing out 'upgrades' to reinforce loyalty out of paranoia and fear. Which is what started the rebellion, of course. You either got 'upgraded', or became a Maverick.
@@dustinjones7458 Not to mention the guardians (Harupia And Phantom in particular) do start to gain a level of respect for Zero, with Harupia first saving him by discreetly delivering him to Ciel, and then outright refusing to fight him later on forcing Elipzo to corrupt him. As for Phantom he learned the truth about Omega, Zero and everything related to the elf wars in cyberspace and desired to see if Zero could possibly still stand a chance against the real body omega had, with him praising Zero for his strength after that optional fight concluded. And the living 3 all ended to be there to finally finish what Weil started all those years ago and to be reunited with the True X in cyberspace.
The X series music sucks. It’s literally just like Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver and Diamond and Pearl, mashing random shit and seeing if it makes music
The fact one of the first boss battles is a race against the time trying to save innocents from a trash compressor...is a good sign this is not gonna be a "whimsical Mega Man" game.
@@MusicalLugia I'd argue he's nastier than Spark Mandrill. At least Harpuia hits back when you do - same can't be said for Sparky on the receiving end of Shotgun Ice (fighting him that way's a whole exploit and a half).
@@AshramIndustries I agree, but like Mandrill, Harpie's fighting style becomes way too predictable if you keep slamming him with ice-charged attacks in Z1. He becomes less predictable in Z2.
This is probably just a me thing, but does anyone else imagine this would be a fitting theme for a Scissorman battle theme if the Clock Tower series was more action-based than horror-based?
@@theotv5522 ...? How do you know she brought all her remaining troops, and how do you know the noise was "unnecessary"? It literally happens off screen (I just started playing through the game today). Also, how would Zero's theme be the funeral song for her ability to command if Zero awakening has nothing to do with her losing that ability? My interpretation of your comment made it a genuinely funny utterance, but your own authorial intent is--I'll be honest--giving me incel vibes. I'm saying this so you can work on it, by the way, not insulting you.
MegaMan Zero was not only dark but felt like you were reading a manga while playing a game. Remember, this was on GBA and it made you feel like that. Imagine if there was an actual anime of this game or a BOTW type of game.
they really pushed the GBA limits despite their inexperience, it was impressive They had to nerf a LOT of content in MMZ3 because of the GBA limits lol, imagine a remake with the original vision sheesh
@@isgarbage I replayed the Zero games since then via the new collection, so I figured that out, I just had never noticed he was slightly orange in that artwork.
*youtubes Standby Zero* *source is Command Mission* Hahaha...sorry....but Megaman Zero predated Command Mission by a good 2 years, releasing in 2001 vs Command Mission's 2003.
The *shit about to go down* tune I love with the falcon boss he was planning to kill reploids for a MegaMan game it's was dark as hell knowing your the last marverick hunter alive
_Playing the first game, this theme slaps and clashes with the theme of the Zero franchise. As the games go on, it's less serious considering there are more difficult bosses to fight. But it's still one of the best in my opinion._
Resonnant vie wouldn't make sense, this is an intense battle theme, something that is creepy, and makes you sweat, Resonnant vie is mostly calming and chill music, so, it wouldn't fit there
Legends speak of a dark place for MMZ players were said of these forbidden words that only brings upon evil and chaos and those words were........ "Aztec Falcon"
AZTEC FALCON IS A PIECE OF SHIT if you haven't levelled up the Z-Saber by hitting one of the rising enemies repeatedly and getting the fully levelled charge
4th favourite theme from MMZ1 and somehow this remind me well when Fefnir try to grab u in close range 🤣 and a fight with copy X who keep "ya ya" shooting element stuff at u 🤣🤣. Catchy and great boss theme from MMZ series here, u are cool to posted this Frygoon youtuber 👍.
Imagine going to sleep and waking up a century later in a ruined future turned completely upside down, and you're the only thing LEFT with the balls to take down the machine. This theme was always perfect for that. It reminds me a lot of Blasphemous, except in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe instead of a fantasy medieval one.

Ciel: Zero you can't damage this this with a buster! (Gets almost beat up in the fight) Me: oh dang I'm about to die! oh wait X: take this zero, there's no time! save her! Me: omg she's gonna die if I don't do something like now! Uhhhhhh maybe this will work **presses random button and hits golem w/ z saber** **golem explodes** Me: whoohoo!!!!!! 2 years later: Ciel: Zero! You can't damage this thing with a buster! Me: Pfft yeah, I totally can! *doesn't lose health during first phase* X: use this zero Me: I'll use what I want you stupid dead poltergeist! **finishes golem with buster** **golem explodes** Lol
I usually use Buster in contrast with the Z-Saber, kill ranged enemies with the Buster and closer enemies with Z-Saber. After all, the more you use your weapons, the more your skill is.
@@franciscosotovillegas4480 de hecho cuando hace eso es mas fácil todavía solo tienes que pegar tiros o sablazos al aire y darle como 6 veces para no dejarle atacar.
I think I just fully realized how the Zero series is the first mainline Mega Man series to sort of leave the power metal aesthetics behind in the soundtrack department. It's really refreshing to think about how it goes for a more atmospheric, moody and soulful vibe. This sound partially goes away for the sequels, but it's still core to the sound of the series. Mega Man Zero/ZX has a fanbase that is sometimes cringy and obnoxious, but the games are good. I should get the upcoming collection.
Tbh, X's fanbase is the worst, since it's the most mainstream in the west. Zero fans are fine, classic are mixed, I'd say. ZX is kinda cult, so the community is unfortunately super niche and reserved.
X has definitely the cringiest fanbase but even then the megaman fanbase is actually nice for the most part compared to others. ( I do hate the classic fanboys who want megaman 12, 13, 14… 99 instead of asking for a new series or finishing the ones that are still to be continued though lmao but eh hopefully one day we can finally get a conclussion for all the unfinished plots like volnutt on the moon or ZXA's new world)
Out of every Megaman boss theme (except _maybe_ X5's?), Zero 1's Crash feels the most... foreboding, menacing, dangerous. Almost like a losing battle. Makes sense, given the general panorama in the first game. Hits the hardest in the siege at the Resistance's Base, personally speaking - if Zero doesn't stop this thing, the Resistance will most likely fall.
I love how foreboding this theme feels, like you just triggered an alarm in a secret base and are getting chased by killer Sentinels So basically, perfect theme for the first stage in the game😂
This theme is really fitting. It gives off just the right amount of instensity with an unsettleing melody. Which makes sense because Zero woke up not remembering anything of his past, and now having to face deadly reploids where one mistake could be his last. I love it
This theme would make me absolutely piss myself. This game takes some time to get used to, so the first few bosses absolutely murdered me like 5 times each
Aztec Falcon: Hello I am the first non-tutorial boss and I am about to commit murder by impounding and impaling a soldier into scrap in a E for Everyone game!
