I agree with you. EVERYONE was racing around in convoys of cars. Up to 10 cars rolling up in neighborhoods probably shocks many people. Alot of money used for gas and time driving around. I wish I could of raid a few easy spots or remote it.
I call this game Pokemon Gas N' Go. The core of the gameplay loop is raids, and yet if you don't live in a mega city, you're practically forced to drive everywhere to do raids efficiently. I went to Sendai pokefest, and it was so easy to walk around and do as many raids as I wanted. But in America, especially on shadow raid days, you're frantically driving everywhere, consulting campfire, coordinating with others on discord, trying to beat lights so you can get into that lobby on time, etc. It's horribly designed gameplay, to be honest. I feel like it's OK for *other* events to get you outside with other people, but raids should be accessible remotely as an online feature. That, or make it where raid gyms have such short timers where myself and others can meet at ONE cool raid gym spot and redo that raid every 10 min or so as much as we want so we don't have to drive around.
I really wish they would have just done a regular raid day. Luckily, in our town of about 10,000 people, we were able to get about eight people together to do the raids, and thank goodness for that. We initially started with four people, but even with party boosted damage, we ran out of time but got it the second time. I feel bad for places with even smaller populations that weren't able to participate and get Rayquaza. Also, some towns around me didn't get 12pm or 6pm raid eggs. This was such a disaster of an event right before Global GO Fest.
I wasn’t too mad about it being it being in elite raids but the fact that there were no raids in a 45 minute walking vicinity in all directions is wild to me
Yeah It sucked. I was at work all day. Would have liked to at least get the meteorite by being able to do a remote raid but can't do that. So I'm not really too happy about this event
it's because simply the elite raid gym is rare in the community. only 1 elite raid in our community. I was able to raid just one time. for other people, it is not enough to collect 400 energy.
We only have 2 elite raid in our area despite hundreds on gyms. Worst thing is we need to find other elite gym, such a waste of time. We're so few. It took couple of attempts. Some of our friends wanted to help but they're miles away. This elite raid is incredibly dumb & stupid. we just bought couple of premium raid passes not knowing we are only going to raid 2 mega rayquaza. Such a bummer.
it felt like a real raid boss, even with top tier counters he still knocked out your mons in 1-2 charge attacks, and he could actually spam outrage making you go trough more than a full team in a lobby of 14 people (even when dodging he did like 1/5 of the hp)
You touched on my problem raiding Ho-Oh. I kept getting trash ones until the last remote pass I had. As for Rayquaza, everybody I know quit because Niantic keeps doing idiotic, senseless garbage seemingly designed specifically to hurt us, even if they don't profit either.
I'ma be fr this was the worst day that happened to me 1. Bc Rayquaza is my 2nd fav pokemon and I would have finished the weather trio 2. I live in a suburb area but barely anybody plays Pokemon go and there was no eggs 3. WHY NOT A RAID DAY?! 4. Niantic sold hard bc alot of ppl (including me) live in suburb or rural areas where not a lot of people can go and raid
Can confirm in NZ. We had FOUR eggs across all of Auckland (most populated city in the country) by 11am. 1 of which is a 45 min drive away from the central city. The other 3 were a 30 minute drive in the other direction from the city. Myself and some friends drove out to the three thinking that’s all we were getting, right after we beat it, we see eggs have spawned all over the city after we have driven all the way out to this random location. We were able to coordinate with some folks on the campfire and do some more raids in the city but we were very let down that we had to do everything last minute. Also haven’t heard anything about Niantic making good on their screw up haha. That all being said I don’t like trashing on the game, my friends and I really enjoy Pokemon go and I’ve been walking 60+ Km a week while I’m on break from uni because of it. Just feeling really disappointed after being excited over this event…
The shiny odds almost definitely were not boosted in my experience. My community really showed up for this even and I kid you not there were probably 30-40 people there and we collectively did 5 raids in the first round of hatches. No word of a lie 3 people got a shiny out of the entirety of the group.
The whole event was a big middle finger to the players in my experience. I went out to 4/6 elite gyms in my area at 12, 1, and 5pm. Recently moved house so not really found much of a "community" yet. I managed to complete a whole 1 raid all day. I had assumed it would be similar to Kyogre and Groudon but no, what a stupid assumption to make. So I finished the event with 1 Rayquaza, 200 mega energy (not enough to mega), and 0 meteorite.. Gone are the days where you could just open the app and take part wherever you live. I feel sorry for any parents that went out with their kids who were excited by the prospect of getting Mega Ray in their collection only to be incredibly disappointed by all the hoops they're expected to jump through. Niantic have really failed.. again. EDIT: Also, Twitter and TikTok as their main channels of communication, absolute joke. And just because a pokemon is strong does not validate making it so difficult to obtain, that's their issue for not balancing power, players should not be for them being lazy.
For me and my friends in australia, we had a group of 3 with decent counters. We planned for this riad like a few hours ahead and we were really excited. But as it turned out, the elite raids were a huge fail. We had 3 raids in the area like 10km apart. We had to walk to each raid and due to lack of communication, we waited at 1 raid for 20 mins with no people and then we went to another raid. As we got there, over 10 people showed up AT THE FIRST GYM WE WENT TO and by the time we got back, they all left. Feeling kinda defeated rn and doubting niantic a bit
Things ended up working out so my friends and I could participate, but man was the set up for this event stressful. We got lucky we ran into more ppl because we only had 5.
I have a different perspective. I live in a very rural community. I never see people doing raids in person, and struggle to do these as it's only me and my girlfriend most of the time. This time around, I met a bunch of people and made some friends to do in person events together in future. I didn't get any good Rayquazas but it was a genuinely fun day out. If this was a normal raid day, it would have been another remote raid fest for many. I think criticism is good to always push a game forward, but this channel seems to be trying to generate hate recently. It's a shame because you have the best videos on meta pokemon. I hope you take other perspectives to heart. ❤
there was only 1 egg for my closest town for 12.01pm. None at 1pm and then 2 at 6pm. Managed to get 6 people to raid the first one but only got 150 mega energy so I didn't go back 5 hours later to be disappointed. 30 minute drive each way. Biggest complain was not raids. Awful compared to normal mega raid day
I was so upset, absolutely no elite raids in my town, can't uses remote passes, and I had cancelled plans for the day just for this event, all to be slap in the face and told "nah, nothing for you".
I spent most of the day coordinating with players around the area, drawing maps and answering questions. The event was a success for our players as most of us managed to get 20 raids done, and my self I was able to catch 14/20 one even being shiny! The only issue and honestly it is a significant issue is the fact that the timed research doesn't even attempt to give you the rewards if you don't get to claim them. I was so overwhelmingly distracted helping others I never claimed my rewards from the timed research before it disappeared 15 mins after the last raid. I got home, took a shower and I was met with the time research gone and no way to get a meteorite anymore. I am locked out of getting my shiny mega Rayquaza for an indefinite amount of time 🙄. I get it It's my fault for not just clicking claims, but the system should not even work like that. They should just lock your progress but with the ability to claim any already earned rewards or at least give you the unclaimed rewards before they delete the event from your screen. I'm just very frustrated with this whole deal but at least I still have my shiny NopeRope....
I was surprised since my first raid I got a meteorite from completing the raid so now I have my max mega rayquza 14/15/14 and now I have two more chances to mega two more with out spending money this game really needs some development love if they want to reach 10+ years.
If it was a normal raid day, I would’ve purchased between 10 to 15 remote raids as I live in a rural area, plus the extra little thing but instead I did not do one raid because rural area in Australia get nothing so obviously they don’t like money
I was in a car of 4 people, traveling in a group of 10-15 cars. My car did 10 raids in the last 2 hour sessions, and we all got a shiny thankfully. But many in the whole group didnt get one, and some people were struggling to get decent IVs. Saddest thing was 2 people in my car were newish to the game, and didnt pay attention to the timed research. They checked for it when we got home after the raids, shortly after 7 and the research was gone, no meteorites for them. 1 of them had a 100% IV that cant be mega evolved... RIP
We live in Seattle which is easy level even for these raids BUT we were out of town in a medium sized beach town with enough raid gyms but we had to drive 20-30 minutes to get to the raids and nobody showed up and I used campfire l, etc, etc. My family of 4 with high medium level 35 avg stood no chance here. We finally found 4 other people at one raid (of 4-5 we tried) and got one. *sigh* My 8 and 10 year olds were so bummed.
i bet the guy who get 98% and a shiny would say the opposite if he didn't get those lol, but honestly if i get 98% and a shiny would happy with the result aswell but not gonna say niantic is doing a great job handling this
That day was a big pile of Garbodor. Was the only one one at each raid, completed all the tasks but the win elite raid, lost the chance for a second mega rayquaza and a sliver of a chance for a shiny and didn't feel like pursuing it because the rewards just weren't worth all the effort and stardust to invest into it just to fail. So I focused on shadow Raikou instead since I didn't have it and already have a 15-15-14 mega level 3 Rayquaza anyway. Got a 15-13-11 out of that so that was worth missing out on the elite raids.
19:53 Not sure how much truth there is to this but throwing excellents in a row without resetting the circle may be bugged/glitched to some point. From my experience resetting has guaranteed better chance of catching as the raid boss hasn't displayed the behaviour of jumping out after the first shake multiple times in a row. It would be interesting to see this tested on a larger scale for more accurate results
I am sorry that most players had a bad experience. I went last year to go fest and already had shiny and mega evolved/ dragon ascent Rayz, so there were zero pressure for me. O enjoyed the day out meeting people. Big shout out to Breda for there organisation, especially the golden lure party that allowed me to evolve gimigould
The driving in cars is so true how they say they build the game for players to get out and explore but cause it to be so spread out or hard that no one truly walks around on foot. Most drive or spoof and Niantic never thinks how game breaking that is. Years before covid, I'd complain on spoofing but then remote raids seemed to be the perfect middle ground. Then they nerfed it and have shown no sense of concern to players who are affected. So now I say, want to spoof go for it.
I couldn’t complain about the number of raids. I had 5 nearby and I live in a rather small city. However NO ONE showed up. We were a team of 4, including one child and just got our a** whooped. I’m most disappointed about the difficulty and the lack of people showing up. Also, campfire wasn’t aligned with the game. You could start hosting the elite raid (which was filled in seconds) but you got blocked when trying to add the trainers to the raid. It’s stupid to allow people to get that far in the process + no way in announcing you can’t continue with the raid because you only have fixed answers to use in the campfire chat. Complete disappointment, especially for the kid.
I did a ton of raids but only because I joined the raid train in my community with like 20 other people. I intensely dislike joining the raid train because it’s always very stressful driving from one location to the next, raiding, and then immediately driving to the next. I only caught so many because I wasn’t the one driving. I would have had more fun it it had been a normal raid day. Final count was five shinies (everyone in our car got at least one), one 98%, and I got enough XL candies for max my hundo from last Go Fest.
Honestly, I enjoyed it. Only played two hours and I was able to do 7 raids. I didn’t get a shiny or any good IVs but that’s ok for me. However the people in my community were all really angry and in a bad mood which I honestly didn’t understand but I’m a new player so that’s why probably
10:00 their profits focus on selling data based on user movement. their "goal" is to get players out and interacting is insidious in that they only want you out and moving so they have data to sell. As the data begins to show nothing of use or dwindle in buyers, they are swapping to other tactics to make money (selling tickets that players have to pay cash for).
I think these elite raids were just tested to see what the people are willing to do for it so the next one could be better or more likely paid to get access to it. One example is premium remote raid that cost pretty penny can only be bought and have expression date.
Ok so I managed 14 raids in Hyde park in London (every raid had 20 people) and caught 12. 2 shinies, 2 x 93% and 1 x 89%. Sadly despite living in a big city I had to spoof to bounce around the park as I had IRL things to do. I remote raid 5 times a day. I'll remote raid during the ultra beasts events. But I had no other option. Other than missing out on the number one Pokémon.
was out of town, went into the village i was at on a gamble around 1pm. second gym i walked to i saw 3 people with a total of 7 phones, we did 4 raids. first 2 raids i got a shiny (no kidding, didnt need them eather already have one) last 2 raids didnt hit shinies but 1 of them did have 98 ivs. had been saving up rayquaza candies for a month, ended up with just enough after the 4 raids to get 100 candies to teach rayquaza a second charged move, meteorite it and mega it. shiny rayquaza truely looks epic.
42 raids (2 accounts) 33 catches 1 shiny a 93 &91% and nothing else above 90... ive never had this low of a catch rate or this consistently low IVs. Im fine with them incentivizing in person play, but do something to make in person raids more accessible. Scale difficulty to lobby size or something
One way to boost in person raids could be increasing the balls you win if you do it close to the gym (they have a way to know how close to a spot you are, as they do in the routes) so that people have more chances to meet each other as they'd need to be very close to the gym. Also give more bundles if by battling the gym locally was your first interaction with a friend (also there locally) for the day. This would increase the chances for people to interact with each other by making in game friends, because they'd gain more bundles that way.
I used campfire and there was already a schedule in my city (not a big city), and had to go with the group. We were like 25 people driving around but, WTF with the distances... had to drive miles between each raid. Managed to catch 2 of 5 between 12-2pm, and got a shiny but only 82%, no hundos. And the problem was, the raid was capped at 20 people, so if you didnt time it well, you either got in too soon and got not intonthe team or too late and the team was full.
Totally agree with the comment saying Rayquaza is the best in the game and it SHOULD be hard. I really hope Mega Mewtwo will be similar. What's the point of playing this game if everyone gets the same Pokémons. Make Mega Mewtwo Elite+ raid with 10-15 minimum to beat it and a catch rate of 5%, only a few players will be able to get it.
Did over 50 Raids, got zero Shiny. Niantic broke most of their ToS lately, they don't respect their own announced ratio, they seem they dont know the differnce between ratio and average as if numbers doesn't mean anything.
raid days is shiny boosted it was elite raid so of course no shiny boosted only good thing they did was increase mega energy from the raid so could get enough for alt
Niantic messed this up! The egg spawn timing and the experience from this elite raid suxk. Lucky for me, I got a hundo during last year Go fest. That was a fun event to farm Mega Rayquaza and the catch rate is easier, but not this! I just fight this elite raid for the meteorite quest.
I was lucky to have done 8 Mrays raids, but I was only able to catch 2 of those and no shiny. Felt sick to have thrown an endless amount of excellent throws with a golden berry each time and only got 2. Gross
This event sucked! I made a group on campfire with 18 people. 1st problem was about 26 showed up. Nobody waited to split the raid and 20 jumped in leaving the other 6 alone. Then after the event one guy messaged me on there since I was the group leader and asked if I would help him walk back to his car since he had a leg amputated last month. I did, and I turn around the group left us and by the time I get to the next raid they have already moved on. I organized a group and was only able to do one raid and it was a shitty Rayquaza at that. I’m annoyed with Niantic for making this an Elite raid and annoyed with the group I put together for being selfish. This was supposed to bring our “community” together but all it did was bring problems. I would have spent money on remote raids. I live in a relatively small town and getting groups together for raids is damn near impossible/fucking annoying
Not trying to complain because I got 4, but near the end, I did an elite raid with 6 people, I was the lowest level (31) and the other people were mid to high 30’s. We were friends, had a party bonus, and I rejoined over and over and over. We still couldn’t beat it :( I had to revive 38 Pokémon from that one raid and I had 0 revives left 😂
I was so mad because I did 20+ raids and didn't get any good ivs nor shiny. I had a 98% so I'm not too mad about ivs but the shiny did get me upset. And I had a huge advantage of being on a trip for this elite raid day so I was driving all over the place already. I can't imagine people in rural area being frustrated about not even getting 1 raid edit: another shocking thing is that I only got the 2 meteorites from the free researchs. I was expecting the meteorites to have a boosted drop this time
Even if they don't allow remote raids, then at least not put them in specific gyms. So that way, people would still go out and not just drive everywhere.
There is something weird about this event. I went to a park and walk to the back where there was s a gym in the open space. I needed to walk to get in range of the gym. After 5 min, i see 17 players joining the raid loby and nobody around the park. I raced to get the pass and joined. Beat the raid, but was shocked that there was no group around that I could see. Again, the gym was in a wide open space that trainers would Be visible if they wanted to raid. Is there a way for people to remote and join local raids whiout being there ????? I am so confused..
Well I went out with 7 friends ranging from level 45-50. We didn’t have any raids at 12 or 1 and 3 hatched at 5. We did 2 and barely defeated both with 8 players with 3 seconds left! I’ve done all the previous elite raids with 5-6 people no issues and also did rayquaza raids last year and they were not nearly this difficult! This was ridiculous as was the bs research We all used party play and recommended counters with zero added luck!!!
We have one Elite gym in town. No one showed up at all. Was so irritated I just went home. It's literally 97 degrees here and waiting in a park sweating and getting burnt is asking a lot of anyone.
I spent so much time communicating and driving all over that I missed one of the meteorites almost didn’t get any! I realized in the last 15 mins that the research was 5 hours! Barely got it! Should have made it claimable for 24 hours
Personally, I’m just mad about the fact that I got the media right last year and now I’m not able to mega evolve anymore even after mega evolving for a whole year because you have to apparently learn the attack again
Niantic left this raid as a Elite and Mega Raid and because of that it was so difficult. They need to turn the elite or mega bonus off and then it would be the same at go fest
It went pretty well for me because I was lucky enough that a single park had like 11 or 12 raids but it was very tiring because the park is ginormous and me and my friends had to run a lot. All 3 of us each did 8 raids. Only one of my friends got a shiny and the other got a Hundo which he had to master ball. Even though I had the worst luck out of all my friends I’m very lucky and I agree they could’ve made this event wayyyy better if it was just a normal raid day
I work weekends so couldn’t participate in this event, even if I was free,I don’t have a car and the torrential rain all day would have put off trekking for miles in the hope of finding an elite gym and praying other people turned up to battle.
Was a terrible event - of the two gyms, I got to as I work Saturdays, @ 5.05pm had 4 players which meant we couldn’t take it down (with 3 tries). Then the second Gym @6.00pm had me! So no Ray, no win, no research complete and no meteor - free research - Oh and a pile of revives and potions reviving the 26 Pokémon that feinted… Not getting the meteor is the biggest bummer I’ve 1457 mega energy from GoFest last year and would like a chance to get another mega…
It wasn't too bad for me, my local ambassadors hosted 350 plus trainers on campfire here in St. Louis Tower grove park Niantic has hosted events there before I've got lucky with a shundo guess you need to be in a big park with a lot of elite gyms
I spent hours getting people together in this small town (I was on vacation) we got wiped out and then the event was over and couldn’t even get a second try
Got to the raid early, hopped in with 7 ppl and we ended up failing the raid. Then I seen a second group few seconds after ours and they had 13. They were able to defeat it. If only I had waited just a little while more, but at the time I thought 7 was the most we were gonna get
Even if they allowed just 5 remote raids it would have gone a long way. Elite raids are fitting for thier name and they are only for certain players and a middle finger to 95% of the community. 100% agree with the evaluation of the situation though. Great vid
I like that they made things difficult honestly. Some pokémon SHOULD be difficult to get and mega Rayquaza should def be one of those pokémon. The raid eggs spawned with more than enough time to coordinate and I was able to get 7 of them personally without much trouble. Everyone has got wayyyy too spoiled since the addition of remote raid passes. I know some players just can't make it to raids physically but no the majority are just lazy bastards who want to stockpile mons while sitting on their ass at home
Yeah it's not like he was easy to get last year or anything, this is such a bad take. People who remote ain't lazy, we still go out to catch pokemon, who still go out to raid, you have such a clown take it's funny
One thing people aren't mentioning is that this was announced to be an ELITE raid. The eggs weren't even elite eggs, they were mega legendary eggs which looks very similar to normal mega raid eggs, which was also going on. So while people are literally trying to find red/white elite eggs on campfire, they're nowhere to be found bc they were legendary mega eggs. Ridiculous
This type of actions in the past by niantic also lead to why people are beginning to lose interest in pokemon go and most also stopped playing the game or have switched to spoofing
I was only able to catch 1/6 despite always hitting excellent curveballs. I caught 18/19 Shadow Mewtwo so didn't feel like wasting raid passes if this is Niantic's way of doing things now. I'll just make 10 alts and spoof.
Yeah I live in a remote area it takes me 30mins to get to the closes gym n usually when I have to go town I check the raids to see if there's people doing the raids n they r always empty so I have to use remote passes I wish I could do in person raids
I only had 3 raids within reasonable driving range. We were able to defeat each of them and I got 36 balls in total. I was able to throw 30 excellent curves with golden raspberries but all 3 fled. Disappointing but I did get the 2 meteorites.
From 9 raids, 8 of them fled, mostly I managed to get excellent throws with golden razberry and even still they fled unfortunately I live in small city so I was forced to travel by train an hour to get into capital city and some other raiders, spent half day on it and ať least one which Ive got have a tree stars but even still a terrible day.
Please make a video on why some people can’t see meteorite after completing research task event! It’s even at the bottom of the research page as completed. I have the energy, but stuck.
My girl and 2 kids+ me went out and had a blast. All got meterite but was kinda hard for my 2 grand parents. They were lvl 20ish cuz they don’t play, both unable to super charge attack for the metrite. Ik it’s not really important for them (they just wanna see grand kids happy and don’t really care about the pokemon part vs social part). but just for thought for new players who wanted Ray. The grand father even got a shiny Ray and was like why was it black not green like ours😂had a blast and glad we had some others chasing raids near me though
We managed to do 8 between 5-7 we had about 30 people but we were hanging out after and I missed both meteorites because there was only a fifteen minute window between the end and the research expiring
Dude, I missed it too! I was talking with someone I met for the first time and we were having a great chat and forgot to do one more field research. Niantic punishes haaaard.
I don’t live in a big metropolitan city so I only managed to do one with 6 people (my 4 accounts in a party and all best friends and 2 random trainers who showed up) and we all struggled to take it down with only about 20 seconds. What Niantic with this is absolutely disgusting!!
Went to the city to do them, with drive time from gym to gym it made it impossible to do more than 2 raids in the 45 minute window Did a total of 6, 2 escaped, no shiny
It wasnt too bad for me i had a duo a fouund a raid group at a college, after that we found a pretty cool park with 2 raids there and played in the water while waiting for the 6 o'clock raids to start and my friend got a shiny Rayquaza.
I get the reasoning behind putting this Pokemon behind an elite raid day. The problems is that the vision behind the decision does not play out that way in reality. People are incentivized to do as many raids as possible which leads to dangerous behavior (reckless driving, etc…) when raids are spread far apart and on an insanely short timer. This also makes people feel jaded and done wrong if they aren’t able to do that. Why do they feel the need to do so many raids? While it’s different for everyone I think there are two major reasons that most people relate to some degree. 1st is shinies obviously. 2nd is IV hunting. With a Pokemon this exclusive it really motivates you to hold on to your hard earned meteorites unless it’s for a beast of a rayquaza. I truly think that in terms of features the game desperately needs a system that allows you to permanently boost ivs (to a certain extent) much like the main Pokemon games has. Doesn’t matter if they time gate it or put it behind something incredibly time consuming, it will make the game infinitely better and would help allay a lot of players hesitations with heavily investing precious resources (like elite tms and items like the meteorite) into Pokemon they really like but just feel like they are handicapping themselves because the ivs of that Pokemon are just a little below what they feel like it should be.
Had to work 12 hrs could not make Niantic sucks If there were remote raids a lot of people would have been able to play.. I don't think Niantic cares about how we feel.
