Thank god Dave waited to use them instead of putting it on TWNAH. TSHF is their true return back to the heavy sound.TWNAH was more like a heavier cryptic writings. Also Degrasso was such a badass drummer you can tell he wanted to play this instead what they did on risk he said so himself. I would take him over Shawn any day.
I believe this is the first and only time I've ever heard a *rehearsal* of Megadeth, and I've been a huge fan since 2007. *edit: not counting the pre-concert SOUNDCHECKS that we have a recording of* ... ....Man, I gotta say: In comparison, Metallica, of whom I am also a huge fan, sounds like a bunch of teenage wannabes goofing around in a garage when rehearsing. I'm really blown away by how tight this rehearsal sounds... The quality of the playing and the energy of the teamwork is fit for a LIVE recording...
Megadeth fans try to not turn everything into a dick measuring contest with Metallica: challenge impossible (Something that's even more stupid to do when you're also a Metallica fan lmao)
@@basedgamingHere's a link to the third Megadeth gig (IIRC) from 1984 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p4fBSEfm3FA.htmlsi=bmloFx8nJVU6oxx6 The band plays Burnt Offerings (Set the World Afire). They played Hook in Mouth during a earlier gig ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8deE3-WYuag.htmlsi=kVVnp-yY8-7GUZfO
@@basedgaming quicksand (an early version of into the lungs of hell) and set the world afire were regularly played in the earliest megadeth live shows (around april 84). mary jane was occasionally played and i believe theres a link of it from december 84 or 85. hook in mouth was also played but it used to be an instrumental and is drastically different from the studio version
@@frankusyoung4198 I remember watching a live show on youtube of them playing Set The World Afire while Kerry King was still in the band. This dude Mustaine has a surplus of bangers...
@@oliverdahlberg838 Never walk alone was released in 2007, but Dave wrote the riff in the youthanasia sessions. I wonder how many other songs from 00s and 2010s are from previous eras😱
@@frankusyoung4198 Actually the riff you're referring to is probably from the track Vortex released on the album after Youthanasia. I've seen the documentary and people in the comments debated about this aswell lol
Eargasm!!! How amazing they sound live before time aligned drums and perfect guitars make everything boring in the studio. Love the flow and human touch.
I was unaware Blackmail The Universe was written with The Worlds A Hero lineup, I feel it fits better on the album it was recorded on because The System Has Failed I find is heavier than The World Needs A Hero, World sounded like they were getting heavy again but still had a few catchy songs
@@kurzackd Still kinda glad it wasn't on The World Needs A Hero because I don't think it would've had the same kind of impact as hearing it the way it became on The System Has Failed
@@zonic26 so am I, but at the same time I'm NOT surprised that Mustaine held onto the riff for a later usage. It's his trademark: Developing ideas over years, sometimes DECADES, waiting for the appropriate time when they can be used.
I'm interested to know as well... Been a huge fan of Megadeth since 2007, and I was never aware that there was ANY recording of a rehearsal by them, even ONE, floating ANYWHERE. This comes as a huge shock to me! :O p.s. not counting the ones of Five Magics and Lucretia from the Rust in Peace era -- those are pre-concert SOUNDCHECKS.
obviously it sounds better faster but @ :48 I like how they played it on this demo better. The bass line and drums are played more straight and it just sounds better IMO
you'd be surprised. dave already had much of the material for the first 4 albums before the 1st album was even released. you can find one of the riffs from rust in peace... polaris in a metallica riff tape from like 1982 that dave was humming
@@mtlikelyausten5564 oh i didnt know that one. i heard a riff from a song on united abominations was an unused one from youthanasia from someone in this comment section
@@ihateminecraft932 Oh that's cool, United Abominations is my favorite Megadeth album of all time. The songs New World Order and Millennium of the Blind on Thirteen were both demos on Youthanasia
This is waaaay better than the official version. I hate the production and overall vibe of The System Has Failed. I wish that they had waited and put this song on either United Abominations or Endgame.
I wish he'd return this lineup in 2004. I don't have anything against Drovers. But Drovs sound slower and they're kinda boring, compairing to Pitrelli-DeGrasso
@@trentthehandrocker1292 sorry... Chris Poland on what album? did Chris came back to Megadeth for a while? I must have misread it... otherwise it's awesome 🤘🤣
