Is it just me who's disappointed with these. Seeing the Birmingham one made me realise they were actually assholes to be around (crew and band). Even though they seemed to be respectful towards fans but the behind the scenes seemed really toxic.
Was Nick a Christian? I haven't watched any behind the scenes to know of him at all. I've only seen history of the making/starting of Megadeth by Dave Mustaine.
This was by far the best Megadeth line up Mustaine ever put together. Rust in Peace is their best Album by far and is the best thrash metal album of all time. I read somewhere that Friedman was hired after Dimebag Darrell turned down Mustaine's offer when Mustaine refused to take Vinny Paul with as a package deal. Thank Christ that happened. We wouldn't have had Deth with Freidman and we wouldn't have had Pantera. What a tragedy that would have been for metal.
I would say it was their best musicianship wise but So Far So Good is still my favorite. Rust In Peace was certainly a reinvigorated ‘Deth though absolutely!
But imagine just one album with the Dime , Vinnie, Dave and David. I can only imagine how badass that would have been!!! But missing out on Megadeth with Marty and Nick and then Pantera wouldn’t have been worth it! Good point!!!!

Son: Dad, why my sister is called Rose? Me: Because your mom loves so much roses. Son: Thanks dad. Me: You're welcome Megadeth - From the vault vol. 8 (Los Angeles)
themodsify to be fair there were loads of tatted up folks back then, including musicians. And still to this day, most “metal” metal musicians refrain being completely covered. Metalcore on the other hand... lol
LongLiveBuckethead LongLiveBuckethead it’s just not for me. I have plenty of friends that have tattoos but I never got one. Btw that line I said was literally from Dave Mustaine himself. I just thought it was cool. My sister has a Mercedes and I told her that and she said makes sense. Come to think of it I really haven’t ever seen a bumper sticker on a Mercedes so . But anyway I’m sorry if you took offense to it . I was just repeating what I heard and I don’t have a problem with anyone wanting a tat. Maybe some day I’ll get one or two.
@@matthewvoss7365 that cover is so badass, I remember seeing somewhere when I was 5 not knowing what it was and seeing it like a decade later when I became a metalhead
Their best albums are Rust in Peace, Killing Is My Business, So Far So Good... and Peace Sells is numero uno. Gar Samuelson was a MONSTER drummer and I'd rather listen to Chris Poland than Marty, even though Marty is great too. I think Kiko's excellent too. Jeff Young is very underrated and I think one reason he gets looked over a lot is because he had a big falling out with Dave. Broderick is also great. They never had a bad guitarist. Mustain himself is great, so he's got a very high standard regarding lead players.
@@trevorrogers95 why cuz he’s not in the band anymore? How does that take away from him being a good bass player? Didn’t age well? Gtfo what a dumb thing to say. Try to discredit decades of great bass playing cuz he happens to not be in the band anymore ha
I'd like to say the music was better then but that's not true. It sounds just as good now as it did then to my ears anyway. I was 13 in 1990 and had been playing guitar for 3 years at that point, just hitting my stride and heavily immersed in all sorts of music. The 1990s were a really really great time for music in my opinion. So many great bands and so much incredible music came out of that decade and not just in metal either. The alternative rock group Belly, who was lead by Tanya Donnely, released their debut album called Star in 1993 and to this date I don't think I've found an album that I like more, such amazing songwriting and production. I highly recommend everyone check that record out even though it is definitely not metal and I'm a Metalhead through and through. But anyway, people who had their formative teenage years in the 1980s probably say the same about the hair metal and the keyboard/synth rock that made the 80s shit, that the 80s were such a great time for music when I couldn't disagree with that statement more. Just goes to show how everything's subjective, a matter of personal opinion. We all have our own perspective regarding everything. That perspective sometimes agrees with other people but does not necessarily make it factual
I was 13. The 90s were amazing. I am sad that people born in 2000 and beyond don't know life before smart phones and the world wide web. We were the last generation who didn't grow up glued to phones.
Thanks for the that. I know that Alice in Chains were on a bill with Megadeth at somepoint early on. Maybe a festival. The song playing 19:43 live in the stadium when Megadeth are saying their goodbyes to the girls backstage sounds very AIC . Anyone know the song playing at that time ?
mega ben - pretty sure the song is “Return to Serenity” off of “The Ritual” album. Alice In Chains was the opening band on the Clash of the Titans tour, featuring Slayer, Anthrax & Megadeth. I was at the Priest/Megadeth/Testament tour in New Haven, CT & the Clash tour in Portland, ME. Good times!
I love those raw videos...they so unprocessed, its like you are there. Mistakes and everything, and that Doppler sound effect as camera goes around because guitar and bass sounds come from real amps.....
Cool how bands could film stuff like this back in the day and not have to worry about paparazzi or tmz. No cell phones back then, everyone just hanging out backstage conversating with each other face to face.
They opened with my 3 favorite songs. Beautiful. And I love how when the cameraguy stands in front of jr speakers, you can really hear him jammin.. and when he moves in front of martys speakers on hangar 18.. such old school recording but sounds so gritty and that true live show sound. Love it
Brings back great memories. I was obsessed with Megadeth in this era. Was at this tour in New Haven, CT. Unfortunately shortly after this is when they started losing me. “Countdown” has some solid songs, but the pure menace of previous albums was absent. It was a new, cleaner, nicer Megadeth. Glad they kept soldiering on, but Rust In Peace was the be all, end all for me.
Same here boss. I remember sitting in my bedroom after begging my mother to take me to the Kmart to purchase Rust in Peace after it came out, guitar in my lap trying to figure out Holy Wars The Punishment Due. 30 years later and I still haven't nailed it down completely, though I do a fairly decent reproduction of Dave's ending solo, nor have I found a more perfect metal song. I wanted to be Dave Mustaine when I was a young teenager. Oddly however, I saved up my paper route earnings and bought a Jackson Kelly, like Marty played. Not a king V like Mustaine. To this day, I think that Kelly Standard is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever owned.
@Ira van den Heuvel - Awesome! Yeah I’m a guitar player as well and I bought the book of guitar tabs for Rust In Peace back then, attempting to learn the rhythm parts to a bunch of those songs. I remember Lucretia giving me problems. That solo by Dave at the end of Holy Wars is in my top 3 all-time favorite guitar solos ever. Still gives me goosebumps! I love the aggression and build of it. Marty’s stuff is fantastic on that album as well, and a great contrast to Dave’s meaner, dirtier style. These “Vault” videos have reinvigorated my old Megadeth obsession a bit and as a result I just listened to “Dystopia” this week for the very first time. It’s cool and I’ll listen more, I just gotta realize that Rust In Peace was kind of the end of that particular era for the band. Cheers!
RIP NM!! An awesome drummer!! Love him!! And what I love about MF is that he really thinks on how to build the solos; it's not like throwing notes everywhere, it's a real solo composition. Beautiful!!! Megadeth on its prime!! Tks for sharing!!!
Definitely the best line up. Everyone was on point. Sad what happened to nick he was troubled but so talented at the same time Marty is an amazing player always will be despite ellefsons recent drama I still respect the hell out of him an amazing player never gets the credit he deserves
Crazy. The guy Dave is calling for “Bobby”. I met and worked with him before years ago. Probably around 1995 which was only a few years after this was filmed. He was partial owner of a studio in Utica NY we recorded at. Cool dude. He had a ton of megadeth passes, picks and other stuff lying around the studio. I knew he worked with them but it was cool to hear Dave calling for him
its crazy how much you can tell how much dave m is such a separate entity in the band. the vibes are so different whenever he's around the rest of the crew
omg wake up dead live is amazing you can here the bass so clearly as well, super tight awesome band, loved thisa band for about 30 years now, especially the old stuff.
really digging the mix where the bass is intelligible. jr. is really a giant in the bass world. he mutes during regular play, and lets ring during solo's. love the position of the mic. for a change anyway.
Testament shreddin it in the background on stage...fracken legendary the intro of Megadeth resonates of current times...stay in your homes--do not congregate in groups more than 2....\m/ love the bass sound in this video Effelson's the Masterrrrrr
@@NKomarov yes and no , it was also a less divisive world . Social media and the internet have ruined discourse and the media has divided us more then ever. Of course people had there issues in 1990 and the world had many problems but the average person seemed happier, women were women men were men and people had a sense of humour, didn't take things so seriously. I honestly believe today's " progressive" world is the most divided , hateful, insane time in the west in a hundred years ! Today someone would want Ellefson " cancelled" for his Japanese inspired shirt that he showed at the beginning of the video for being " Racist " . That's the world we live in now , and yes of course life is better when your 15 like I was in 1990 but even my parents say the same thing , life was just better before the 2000s.
I was there, I won the tickets off the radio when I was living with my grandparents in Long Beach Ca. Megadeth, Judas Priest and Testament. Got to meet all the members of all 3 band's, tee shirts and cd's. I was going with my aunt because I didn't know anyone yet at the time because I had just come down to Socal from Washington state in 1990 to get away from the Meth scene I had been in for 5 yrs . That was my family's way of trying to help me back then which worked until I moved back to Wa. This concert was 11 days before my 21st . But my aunt had a serious alcohol problem and was a wreck the day of the concert and her boyfriend at the time was the only other person I had that had a vehicle to get us there, I hadn't met anyone my age yet .It was a killer show except he didn't believe in people under 21 yrs old drinking. I talked him in to buying me 2 40oz bottles of St Ides . It was still a great time .
Not a drink in sight, these guys knew their shit. Watching these behind the scenes is awesome, a snapshot in time of a new era for megadeth. Marty rocks
Management - “Hey you guys can have a gigantic painting of anything you can imagine for your backdrop. What’s it gonna be? Evil Wizards? Satan and hot demon chicks in Hell? Post apocalyptic America? Dragons? Aliens?” Dave “no way dude. Boxes.”
I hope one day someone will make an official Megadeth documentary that’s like 3 hours long. 😂 at least we have these awesome retrospectives and the Behind the Music episode.
