That's what makes this group amazing, and this album the best metal album ever. This song is a melodic song which features the vocal and guitar, but the bass and drum parts are still awesome.

And the reason Junior isnt playing a crescendo is because he's merely playing higher and higher notes, not playing notes louder. Right? thanks in advance bro

oh my god, the drum fill at 2:05 just blew my mind. it's always sounded great on record, but hearing him going from the rhythm section into that fill is SO potent here. It screams, "here comes the solo". Amazing, as always, thanks for the upload.
People need to listen to this if they dont understand the value of ellefson as a bass player. Unreal precision while getting the exact tone the mix needs and complimenting the guitars while locking the drums down.
Techno and drum and bass are two completely different genres. Also, what I meant was that in your first post 'D/B mix' and 'Drum and Bass' mix would probably be construed as the same thing
He really is so much better than most metal bass players. He actually has a bass line with the drums. Not just playing the guitar parts through the whole song. People love Jason Newsted and Cliff Burton, but they sound sloppy to me and I don't like a bass pretending to be a guitar tone. David's bass sounds like..A BASS!
yep metal bass players think they are guitar players playing the root notes. It is a different instrument with a completely different function and role. If it wasnt, there would not be a reason for its existence. 2 guitars in one band is too redundant in a lot of bands, we dont need the bass pretending its a guitar too.
Funny you should say that on Tornado of Souls, because for like 80% of this song Ellefson is playing exactly the same thing as the guitars. The role of the bass in metal is to link the drums and guitars and to beef up the guitars. You can't do that without most of what you do being doubling the guitar.
