I just got out of the cinema, and have to say, for me, you’ve really hit the nail on the head!! Couldn’t agree more!! And on top of everything, yes unfortunately Adam’s role got extremely monotonous
Yeah 100% agree with that. It wasn’t that I thought Driver gives a bad performance. I think he gives as good as he was given, it’s just I found the character to be one note.
My favorite scene with Driver is the scene where he goes crazy out the party. I wanted more of that wackiness from him. Either way, thanks for watching my review and if you haven’t yet I hope you consider subscribing for more!
Thank you! This is a review I’m super proud of and really loved making so hearing other people’s positive response is super encouraging!! I hope you consider subscribing for more!
I watched it earlier today and enjoyed it. I did not really understand the criticisms of it being too complicated, disjointed, or convoluted. I thought it was pretty straight forward storyline with Shakespearean type characters (mostly static archetypal characters) with a lot of David Lynch dream/drug sequences. In fact, I thought the movie was probably too simplistic/optimistic in its conclusion and the plot resolution was too idealistic. But the movie does a good job setting up how a society goes from "normal" to almost collapsing. I agree with your assessment that the movie lacks prospective in that it is largely told from the POV of an optimistic Caesar whose dreams and aspirations are the driving forces. I would love to see an alternative ending or the same movie but from a different prospective ala Flags of my Father/Letters from Iwo Jima style.
I didn’t have a bad time watching this movie. For the most part I enjoyed the experience; however, by the end it left me hollow. But I respect your take! Thanks for watching and I hope you consider subscribing for more reviews!
Honestly I think if you try to turn your brain off it may hurt the experience, I think it has too many ideas to just turn off your brain while watching. Rather, how I would describe the best way to view is don’t go in with any preconceived notions of what this movie is or isn’t about.
