Not sure what to think but Coppola is one of the greatest directors of all time and he's 85. This probably will be his last movie and I want to support it.
No, this is not his last film, Coppola has even prepared to make another film after Megalopolis... and has written the script... but we still don't know what the project is and what film it is.
Retro Futurism Sci Fi! Love all of the Deco visions of NYC. A feast for the eyes. If this film doesn’t make money then the industry should call it a day.
The fact that this has even come into existence is fascinating in and of itself. Honestly, whether it's a masterpiece or a trainwreck, it mostly works or it mostly doesn't, I'm actually quite excited for this.
The curtain call and passion project of one of the last remaining cinematic masters. He sold a portion of his wine estate for $120M to stake the production. This is one for the art form's true fans - neither for critics nor box office. I myself cannot wait to watch it.
It's labeled sci-fi, which is backed up by the first look released like a week ago, watch it you haven't by the way But it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the more sci-fi looking things are in driver's head in some form of genius imagination thing. Maybe I'm wromg but I'm enormously excited for the character and movie and glad to see I'm not alone
@@starcrawler77 Cool, so perhaps the protagonists, rather than fighting an enemy, it’s gonna be a person vs world type of conflict where they might learn something.
@@Fantasy_lova i think that's what a fable is, for the viewer/reader to learn something. and i think the fable will probably be about american society.
As far as I can tell the criticisms against this movie are that it is not on the cookie cutter rails of what is expected in modern cinema, surely a crime to the consumer of disposable entertainment.
It's like the comic strip La fièvre d'Urbicande(1985), a classic that was made when the author visited Brasilia. The premise is very similar: an architect against politicians and discussions about urban society. Funny how both authors visited Brazil for this, as Copolla visited Curitiba.
it puts me in mind of Coppola's own. "Apocalypse Now." When I first saw AN, I thought it was a mess, but a fascinating and compelling mess, worth ten times any of the well-made, conventional films coming out at that time. Looking at it again, years later, I loved it even more. When he swings big, Coppola - a true FILMmaker - is definitely worth the time. And the presence of Giancarlo Esposito may make up for that of Shia LaBoeuf.
Where do you see Oscar Isaac, Colin Farrell, and Zendaya? You looking at a different IMDB than me..... You got Giancarlo and Laurence right at least....
I don't care about reviews, I'm very curious to see FFC's vision realized. It's rare that somebody can just make a movie they want, it's cool to get to see somebody's artistic goals just unchained. I want to see what they cheffed up.
MIGHTY. This looks mighty !!! The cinematography & colour correction alone makes it a must watch. One last big Hoorah for Coppoloa ? - this certainly looks like a masterpiece coming from a master.
WHEN I SAW THE FALLEN SCALES OF JUSTICE, AND THE LAW STATUE... I LOVED THE EXAHUSTED, BROKEN LOOK. THE CAME ALIVE, IT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS DREAMING, BUT IT LOOKED SO GOOD!!! IT WAS THE STATE OF NEW YORK CITY CRUMBLING.
@@richardthegingerbo909Or not. But being different is what might make it at least enjoyable. It’s already being compared to One From the Heart, which is hilarious because only twelve people saw that movie. We’ll have to wait and see 😊
