A lot of people said that MMBN5 went way too far into the fantasy elements, but I feel that that line was already crossed with the final dungeon of MMBN2 and everything involving Pulse Transmission in MMBN3.
Before BN4, there wasn't fantasy - Just really bad science. Case in point, the reason given by Yuuichirou at the end of BN1 for why he modified Hub's DNA. Pulse Transmission-like systems were and are a staple of sci-fi (see: The Matrix, Neuromancer). BN2's Apartment Complex was a combination of Capcom not knowing computer science, Capcom not knowing how radiation works, and Capcom taking lots and lots of drugs. Really, BN4 should be blamed for the fantasy crap, not BN5. It's the one that started talking about souls and invented NetNavi Hell, which you get sent to when these magic Battlechips corrupt your soul and show up in your Custom Screen even when you delete them WOOOOOOOOOO SPOOPY.
@Angolin With the first part I completely agree, although for the second part i always thought that by 'soul' they mean the Navi's core/kernel rather than literal soul, i could be wrong though.
This sounds like even the music is fighting. It's pretty menecing at first, then it suddenly turns heroic and happy, then before it loops it's just pure action.
I know it's a 4 years old comment but Powerful Enemy, the boss theme, has the same idea. The first 1/3 sounds rather dark and melancholic, representing the evil side of the conflict. The second 1/3 sounds rather upbeat and heroic, representing the good side of the conflict. And the last 1/3 sounds like the action and clash between the two until it repeats the cycle. And considering MMBN5 has no "friendly" fights in the story (exception for optional ones) and every fight feels like an actual conflict, this makes the BN5 boss theme brilliant in my eyes.
The MMBN bosses are so Un-Megaman-like that it's downright AMAZING. I bet half the people who look at this guy probably thinks he's from some Final Fantasy game or something. NOPE. MEGAMAN BRO.
And now therers BN collection on multi platform, with imporvements, especially online play. I'm hoping for a BN remake from the ground up. Well, after X9 and Legends 3 gets made first.
Ah man. This was a badass moment for me. Just as I reach the last 300 HP of Nebula Gray I get all the chips for Life Sword. And with a single strike I finish the battle. Awesome.
I almost had that moment, except that I put the chips in the wrong order and ended up dying... 😓 when I finally did beat him, the killing blow was a skully1 chip, kinda anticlimactic lol
The first game's final boss is a virus. Second one's a bug. Third's the Internet itself. Fourth's an alien program. Fifth's a software. Sixth one has a bug and a program entitled as beasts. What's Chrono X's gonna be, a spam? XP
Well... I remember playing against final bosses from megaman series (MMBN 4,5,6 and Starforce 1,2,3) I actualy found Nebula Grey the easiest (but still realy challenging... also it's possible i found it easier because i defeated Duo and Gregar before that) This song sure brings good gaming memories back! (Best BGM from the entire megaman series if you ask me)^^ Oh If you are interested , i think Duo is the hardest boss from Megaman Series (Or Le Mu from Starforce 2)
ExplodingPancakeOfAwesomeness I Finished 6 first (Gregar version) then 5 (Team Colonel) and then 4. All three games giving me realy good memories , i guess you feel the same. :D
Memories of helping my buddies beat this boss... hahaha. The MBN series was really something else! It was a refreshing change from the conventional Megaman and totally action packed. The concept is really creative, too.
@@SilverHunterN I'd love to see that. Until then, there's always One Step From Eden on steam which is pretty fun and similar to the MMBN style. I recommend it.
@@DirtyBobBojangles idk man, duo doesn’t summon an unkillable dark megaman who uses dark chips against you, also you can area steal on duo and any Navi chips that run up to the enemy and attack can work on Duo but not Nebula Gray
I remember my first playthrough as a very young idiot. Awful folder, had no idea Chaos Unison existed, bad Navi Custom, no dark chips and probably didn't pick up as many HPMemory as I should have. Somehow won against this thing, after a long afternoon that is.
Alternatively, do use Dark Chips... Use nothing the entire game except Dark Thunder, Big Noise, Dark Circle Gun, and your buster. Now get hit enough to trigger Dark Mega Man. You are now an unstoppable god of death. Need more time? Dark Invis.
This is why Ilike BN so much. I took the concept of older MM games and remodeled them into epic forms AND brought new and menacing beasts to the series. I mean, not even X could have pulled THIS out his helmet.
Ahhhh I loved having Nebula Gray's battlechip in my fights against other people. :'D - Nebula Gray - *Fist appears* SLAM *All panels broken* Nowhere to run. They hated the shit out it. And then finish it with my Bass EXE chip. Total domination.
One of my favorite final boss soundtracks from the Battle Network series. A shame not one of these amazing Battle Network soundtracks even made it into Smash Ultimate...I actually prefer Megaman.EXE over short Megaman. I would love to see X, Omega, Elpizo, Megaman.EXE, Protoman.EXE, Zero, the Reploid, Bass.EXE, Colonel.EXE, Serenade.EXE, Megaman from Starforce, Acid Ace and Rogue in Smash as well as a whole 100+ soundtracks from Megaman Zero, Battle Network, Transmission and Starforce.
Wait, people play BN3+ without using Under Shot? I don't even consider a NaviCust setup unless I can use that program. Maybe for a challenge run I could see it, but I don't see what you could possibly slot in that's better than just Undershot, even with no other programs.
Susilo Hadi Nugroho Look it up on youtube, there's a whole official album dedicated to the battlenetwork 15th anniversary Capcom made remastering all the famous tracks throughout all 6 games. It's a great album^^
I think the best version of the Nebula Gray battle theme is the original. I still have no idea why the sound team for the DS and XOver got the music beat of it wrong.
Airshoes is key, not necessary if you have Panel Return, but it definitely makes the fight that much easier and leaves room for better stuff. Darkchips (for unison obviously) that help in Team Protoman are mostly Dark Sword and Tornado, but make sure you have a Invis packed with you. Team Colonel is slightly easier in that regard as its easy to land that Darkwide (and DarkInvis is just godly)... Also, S chips usually have very good stuff to use, like Navichips (Larkman, Shademan), LifeSword program advance, SuperVulcan (again, use Invis). Tornadoes packed with an Atk+30 or something also do quite a wallop and can be even further increased if you go go Soul Unison with Gyro , though the latter may be a little overkill. Basically because your chip library isn't all that big at that point, you pretty much have to take the code where you can do the most reliable damage for. I usually use S and R for this guy since these usually have these high damage ones at this point. As for Nebula's attacks, the more you dodge the better off you be, but if you have something powerful prepared (like that 800 damage Tornado), don't be afraid to take 100 damage if it means hitting that attack.... Lastly, healing chips may help if you have trouble dodging in general.
BubbleWrap is a perfect chip to use for the fight, considering it never goes away, and NebulaGray only has a single Thunder attack, and even that is really easy to dodge. Also, like Blitz1Blacktail1 said, spam ChaosUnisons and kill him with Dark Sword or Dark Shot.
***** Repair chips also help here really well, since Nebula Grey will be destroying panels on a semi-frequent basis. less chances for it to attack, the better.
one of my favorite themes in the entire series! one of the very few i like more than this theme is the N1 Grand Prix battle theme from MMBN3. as amazing as the BN series was storyline-wise and gameplay-wise, really, the best thing about these games was the music! and of all the types, the battle themes stood out CONSIDERABLY! its things like this that make me proud to be a true Megaman fan forever
Really depends on Alpha's ability to absorb things. Though if Bass can be absorbed by Alpha and manage to survive enough to repair himself, doubt he'd be able to do the same to the cyber beasts.
Hey, the last time I played this game and heard this song was a few months ago. After hearing this song again after a long time I didn't think it will be THIS good hearing this song again!
Susilo Hadi Nugroho Yeah, I finished all the MegaMan series games. I just want a new MegaMan game. Sometimes I restart my game and play it from the start, it's quite fun I would say..since there's no new MegaMan game, that's the only thing you can do at the moment. As you know the reason behind this was because of Capcom but, MegaMan is back but not at the fullest. We, as a group should all work together and support Keiji Inafune, once he has enough, he can invest it on MegaMan. Share this message and Like my page, "Let's Bring Back MegaMan".
I agree. He looks like the final boss of something like fire emblem sacred stones. In fact, swap both of them around and you'd never could ever guess nebula gray belonged to a megaman game. Same can be said for boring old Dr weil and another final boss from another game.
I struggled with this boss for a bit but eventually gained enough muscle memory to easily evade the vast majority of his attacks, i am surprised so many people struggled so much with him i also feel like i am one of the few people who never once touched a dark chip when playing.
I'm currently replaying the Battle Network series on the legacy collection and am on Team Colonel. After playing the PS2 game Dark Cloud, Nebula Grey gave me massive PTSD to the Dark Genie. Loved the story and music but the boss was just heavy Dark Cloud trauma for me. XD
0:20-0:39 i have felt that is the true final game of the Megaman Battle Network main series and MMBN6 would be a spin-off of the main series (what did you just say?,ugh,Silly Hitomi!,Megaman Battle Network 6 is the final game indeed!)
Well, i need to agree, this part also sounds like it's the final MMBN game... i played every one of those and i loved every of those, i think i'll even try Chrono X! ( And also come back to those original ones... man, i really loved those series... if Capcom created MMBN7 for 3DS i would Pre-Order it!
I used to beat nebula over and over again on my gba sp back when i was a kid ..i tried booting the game up after all these years and I have no idea what im doing ;n;
Yeah dude using dark chips is like smoking - you can never stop using them once you start! At least it was like that for me.... then I found out how to unite with them so I just restarted my game :D
Dark drill fusion use the charged atk (if u have good timing) or drill3 chips,vulc3,super vulc with +10/30 easy peasy lol tho not sure about his Omega never fought it yet I've always beated him without airshoes
CURSE YOU, NEBULA GREY OMEGA!! The ONLY reason I beat him was because I learned that his huge dragon head attack does enough to hit you into rage, and then I'd use a 1200 damage(ish) bassanly on top of all the s-code PAs... And also redfruit3. Easily the hardest boss I've faced outside of Bass XX, which is pmuch just an urban legend at this point :p
I've fought BassXX legit, but dear fucking god you have no hope if you don't get NorthWind IMMEDIATELY. My best attempt of almost 50 got him to 1500-ish health. (I fought him by getting BN5 on the Wii U E-shop, where BassCrossMega and all 20 secret chips are unlocked by just going into communications and trying to connect. Capcom gave us something. :))
Bass went from standard, To Bass gs with gospel input, To Bass omega with the dark soul, To Bass alpha and Bass (NG) or Bass xx, Then in 6 went to Bass bx
I have double team ds and I was spamming my dark chips (stupid, stupid) and giga chips when I finally looked at its health. Long story short, I love action replays.
Shadow soul/chaos made nebula grey manageable to the point of never needing to use chips, especially if you constantly abuse Django sp cuz dark invis will spam that as a result of its constant use. :D
It's kinda true though, Alpha, and Life Virus look like something completely unrelated. Life Virus and scuttle lusts look like something from metroid. Not sure what game alpha could be relate-able to but, it doesn't look like like something you'd see in a mega man game.
