The whole concept of Double in X's route is amazing. Zero has his love, while X is experiencing the flaws of his design- far too trusting and naive. In the ending cutscene, X thinks about fighting Colonel, Double's betrayal and Sigma's return- What went wrong.
If you think about it, the sole fact that they gave Zero a love interest is amusing, since Zero was designed to be a Reploid that would bring destruction to the world, hence it shouldn't be in his nature to love or cherish anything, but here he is. Experiences change people, and even those predestined to become beacons of negativity and destruction, can find a righteous path and decide to become so much more if they put their heart to it.
@@Nplasma17 You can thank Sigma for that. He spared him after grueling fight with him. Gave him a second chance. But ended up being infected with the Maverick Virus himself and man it infected severely. Talk about reversing of roles.
@@Nplasma17 Iris wasn't in love with Zero. He only cried after her death as well as the death of Colonel because he was frustrated at being unable to save anyone from Repliforce.
@@adamhernandez7183 It's heavily implied they had a budding romantic relationship, but that's part of the tragedy of it, it never has a chance to blossom. Zero effectively murdered Iris when he killed her brother because of her bond with him.
@@yukiq hi Yuki. I appreciate ur feedback. I hope u don't wait until it's over. I used to be an atheist never thinking nor caring about religious perceptions. One night over a decade ago, Jesus Christ came to me. He called me by my 1st name. Then He told me He's real and to believe in Him. Never thought this would ever happen to an atheist. I confirm with you He is real as you.
What's hilarious about this line is that the accidental comma error after "Mavericks" (along with the added S in "Maverick" for some reason) in the translation makes it seem like Double is playing _everyone around him_ instead of just the Maverick Hunters and Repliforce like he's actually been. So in a sense, as far as the dub was concerned, kids probably believed Double was serving another, yet unknown power outside of Sigma... or Wily, given the ambiguity of whether or not he actually lived on through the Maverick Virus or made an AI like Light did.
The transition is pretty smooth, and I like how you added the quote ``I`m so anxious to rip you APART!`` between the 2 themes, its a nice cherry on the cake.
What I love about double is that the devs practically designed him to be forgettable from the start. You don't know him, X sure as hell doesn't know him, and none of the mavericks or repliforce members mention double. Not even dragoon, Who's practically on the same side as double. It makes the twist that he's a maverick in that cutscene where he lays waste to those maverick hunter grunts feel all the more surprising, since it really shows that anyone can become a maverick.
Yeah, well it's not too surprising considering that this is the Mega Man series we're talking about. You can't really trust anyone, not even your allies (protoman, bass, zero, etc).
@@adamhernandez7183 Proto Man has been extremely trustworthy since the end of Mega Man 3, and Zero's pretty trustworthy when he's not under the influence of some virus.
@@adamhernandez7183 that's the thing though, those characters actually were designed to be important to some degree. You at least get some information about them in the manual, with the characters themselves recurring in different parts of the story. Double doesn't have that, instead being seemingly devoid of any relevance to the plot whatsoever. And that's why he's great.
Unfortunately, his name is a dead giveaway that he is a *_Double_* agent. But the description is incredibly accurate. We all thought he was a bumbling idiot, too
Double is still one of the better antagonists in the X series due to the fact that his cutscene and music made you feel like you fighting a villain what was meant for a gorefest anime
Just discovered this one, and holy crap! It really does fit the character with the whole menacing and intense aura. Gonna add this to my DnD background music playlist 🗣🔥🔥🔥
Double is such an underrated bad guy. I wish they'd done more with him, especially since he's basically Mega Man X's parallel to the Classic series' Yellow Devil.
In the soundtrack, his theme is called "Double Jello Man", a reference not only to classic games' naming structure (Fire Man, Elec Man, etc.) but also to the Devil series of Wily's creations. Maybe this was a dropped plot point, but perhaps this is referring to his single mindedness as one of the cruelest Megaman bosses, showing not an ounce of guilt towards his victims, designed not only to kill, but to do anything to get the upper hand. In the manga, he even sets up Repliforce directly by planting evidence that Eregion attacked Sky Lagoon under Repliforce's orders, kicking off the first of many reploid coups. I don't even think Sigma or Vile could be as douchey as Double was.
“Hmmm what should I call this attack? I’m going to slash him… but maybe I should give it a name to let him know that I’m evil now. How about…. Evil Slash” -double, probably
Glad you liked it. In fact it's a mixture of two pre-battle lines. The laugh comes from the "You're gonna get hurt, X!" While the "I'm so anxious...!" is one of its own, but I thought they fitted way better together
The concept of X getting backstabbed was pretty good, awesome even, but the execution of those idea was not good enough for X`s story. X`s story here wasn`t given enough... uh... flesh... to hit us in the feels like Zero`s. We needed someone who was trusted & respected by both X & us to make us feel that *we* were BACKSTABBED and it. hit. *HARD*. .... now who can be a good candidate for all of that? A character we know for a few prequels can work pretty good..... *Zero* .... he even has that part in his story where Sigma tells him that how Zero was a maverick when he was ``born`` & then after finishing Storytime Grandpa Sigma himself forgot that HE was the one telling the story and got shocked about something HE told so calmly. Anyways, We could`ve had that X vs Zero fight in this game, and it would`ve been SO. MUCH. AWESOME. Well that's my idea
The power of translation errors was pretty hilarious for me. From the added question mark that makes Sigma seem like he himself forgot since he's clearly stating Zero's a Maverick right after the whole flashback, to translating Double saying "Mavericks, Hunters and Repliforce" instead of "Maverick Hunters and Repliforce", making it sound like he's some guy who's playing _all_ the sides instead of just being some psycho Sigma hired to infiltrate the Hunters and get under X's skin as a bonus like intended.
Imagine if Double is what X would have been like without Lights capsule test. Double is X opposite. Double is what X would be been like if X was a Maverick.
X5 was my first game with x4 and when i was young I was never able to beat one boss so I never vs double. So the second on the opening where he appeared, I was like(oh, that's a cool character)
Es inquietante lo anticlimatico que se siente este segmento del juego, la escena gore, la excesiva agresividad con que double se refiere a X, y todo convergiendo en este canción caótica, sientes que X no merece tanto odio
I remember that I didn't like this boss's music and I had to keep the volume down the few times my dad came to listen to the television where I was playing.
the paradox of being a double agent were he not to have been genuinely affiliated with sigma all along.. he would have been fighting against himself just like megaman exe did to his own darksoul. and if you win against yourself, you lose against yourself. its hard to determine which version of you would survive or even if that would matter at all.
@@unspeakablemind260 meu zerei ano passado na casa do meu primo esse, megaman é um dos meus, jogos favoritos 🥰 se e loko lembro quando joguei, pela primeira vez se é loko
I like this theme but Double was only a dude that betrays X. Where have we seen that before ? Double is ok but felt like they made Iris have more concept.
