Nah, I think they are already doing more than enough with the content, even more so for being a fan-game. They will literally give us a completely different experience with the models than what we got in the official games, and I mean that not counting the amazing work on the sprites and how good and organic Giro and Cynthia look when they transform. It is also a nice touch that they let us play as model O

It takes on the same "Pick a character" concept from both ZX and ZXA. Really, I still feel it sort of only works on ZX and ZXA as the game lets you pick the character in both cases, and in the later it actually affects the canon protagonist from the ZX game, but I still find it a nice detail.
I'm sure you are asking yourself "Why is the palyer called Cynthia?" But the true question you must ask is "Is it the Cynthia from Megaman X corrupted?"
