Jose Borges, the eventual winner of that race, passes Clement at 2:49. Jose is the fellow in red and white who you see to the left. He passes Clement, then stays within view until they are almost to the reservoir spillway bridge. Clement catches up to Jose and passes him just before the reservoir bridge. If you slow the video down as Clement passes Jose at 4:00 and 4:01, you will see that Jose is just beginning to turn left. Jose did not cross the bridge, he turned left onto a different path that drops off of the reservoir dam on the near side of the spillway. Jose disappears from all cameras for a little while and he does not show up again until Kilian Bron's camera shows him passing Kilian. Kilian was ahead of everyone at that time by about 100 meters, and he had been leading the race until Jose passed him. The route that Jose took must be faster and shorter than the route everyone else takes because he caught up to Bron soon after he rejoined the main trail. If you look at the course on Google Earth, you can see the path that Jose must have taken. I don't know why other riders did not take that path. The race organizers encourage competitors to find shortcuts as long as they do not miss or cut through any of the gates or barriers they have put up on the course. But at the next running of this race the organizers had put up a ribbon to keep anyone from taking that route.
Where can we get Jos Borges Video Version to watch? I'm confused he wasn't there in the whole race but suddenly appears here at 04:29 behind Kilion Bron.
great battle. I didn't understand one thing at all. Clement overtook a guy from Portugal, the future winner of the race, in front of the bridge, 04:00. Where did the Portuguese pass him? in the video, Kilian Bron 04:15 has another athlete's shadow on the right. Who was that?
I asked myself the same. Jose Borges must have found a complete other line direct after the bridge, to close the gap to Kilian Bron so fast. Someway mysterios...
in Kilian Brons Version his shadow appears suddenly at 4:13min. Like in a movie. in the comments the people don´t know who he is and call him the `Mortal Enemy` haha
@@florianhirche3591 Did you saw a video on a guy taking a totally different French line? The title of the video is something like "the best french line ever he overtook 100 riders". Could be the same line
after watching the 2nd placer video ( Kilian BRON) u can see that bron used other line after crossing the bridge which Jose Borges also used and is not seen on Clément Benoit video. unfortunately Benoit followed the other rider (02) which gives momentom for Borges (801) and rider (401) to teak the lead. during the 4:45 u can only see rider 401 on the video for Borges went earlier. watch Bron (2nd place) video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKBBeRcFnDY.html. and from there the battle for first place is history. from philippines
