I hate I missed the live, but I am grateful for the playback. You were spot on with Maurice. I did not like him in season 1. He was always better at hiding his BS than the others, but he was still terrible. He pressured Kimmie early on to step up more as Monster's natural parent rather than doing it himself. Yet, he still wanted to maintain the image of being a present and responsible parent. In regards to the traditional marriage roles, I will say this from what I learned from observing my parents' 40 + year marriage is a man takes care of his family, and a woman runs the household. My father ran his business and still took pride in making us dinner, keeping the house organized, and making sure we were on top of our school work. Because he loved his family. My mom worked the night shift at the hospital and took care of my two ailing grandparents. But even in her absence, our household maintained a routine. We had dinner at a certain time, a bedtime, afterschool activities, medical appointments, chores on a certain day, etc. She knew when and where we were at all times. I think many people could consider this as a possible framework for marriage.

My grandfather was just like your dad. He was abusive to my grandmother but he was present. Both of my grandparents had really good jobs but did everything 50/50.
