The daughter’s English was very much like any other young college student I worked with, but mom’s was still heavily accented and occasionally peppered with quirky attempts at casual slang. I’ve got a new coworker who has emigrated from Mexico and has been working in the fast paced fast food industry for 20 years. Her English is a little bit better than the Ukrainian mom I mentioned, but still not the same as someone born and raised here. If republicans were complaining about the English usage of my two coworkers, most people in the MTN family would rightly be complaining about prejudice showing. There are dozens of legitimate reasons to complain about the current Mrs Trumρ. Her lingering accent should not be that high on the list. Every time I read people complaining that she still has a heavy accent, I’m reminded of the people in my community who pretend they stopped going to Mass in town because they couldn’t understand the priest. The priest from India, with an accent. Do better. Be better.
