@@eduard1215 really Victorian billions in debt. CFMEU in control. Yep the current government in control, if I was in control I would not have signed Victoria for billions in debt for next generations. I did not vote for DAN because of his smug attitude to debt, of course taxpayers, property investors and small business will pay, stuff them i DAN know better because everything is in commercial confidence. Yep government know better
Sad state of affairs is Melbourne.....it was once a beautiful city...no more....it's needs a complete make over to clean it up..Southern Cross Ststion is the ugliest dirtiest place as a first stop to the city...it's dull & definitely not people friendly..it's a cold hole...Spencer St Station was way more comfortable as the Gateway..Labor Govt has ruined Victoria...
@nickkara468 That's true but let's be honest here, even before Andrew's melbourne cdb was already starting to deteriorate long before him. 30 years in advance but Dan finished it off and sealed it's fate.
Was in Melbourne last weekend for the first time since covid. Couldn't belive how massively the place had change and never seen so many people on the street off their rocker sky high on drugs
The public servants have worked out they can stare out of their window at home just as well as in Spring St. It's an insult to the tax payers who pay them good money to perform poorly.
Those days are gone not only is not safe it's also the dirtiest place too . I was there today. Saw the homeless sleeping in the shopping corridors is sad sight to see .
$17.50 for a disgusting "Chicken Soup" in Flinders Lane, small bowl, horrible brown pieces of "Chicken" FFS and they want us to "support city businesses" with this garbage, I will WFH majority and cook my own food!! oh and $17 for a pint, what a bargain!!!
Anyone working from home should only receive a basic salary not higher than 60k. They are pampered to absolute insanity, no supervision and no costs of working. If the world had any sense it would be the people who walk around and actually make or build stuff who would be making the most money and having the most respect. Instead they are being looked upon as stupid by the muppets stewing in their night stench filled rooms, too lazy to put pants on. It's all completely upside down.
Obviously the premier doesn’t want Victoria to be successful, or she is so inept that she has no clue on how to make it successful. The City of Melbourne put out a video enticing businness with nice sounding platitudes and nothing more - how out of touch can you be?
great comment 👍🏻 koalas and kangaroos possibly have more protection than Australians 😔 i tried identifying as a koala during the lockdown era .. it nearly worked ☝️
We are working from home because we can barely pay rent and cutting out travel costs make a big difference. Toxic workplace culture's in Melbourne are so prominent. As long as that manager making everyone miserable is bringing in the big bucks upper management do not care. So let us work in peace and they can focus on identifying those who are grifting and weed them out.
It's weird to me, in 1984 I would've done anything to visit the city as a kid. Now in 2024 I do all I can to stay away etc. Just look at any retro postcard or images online to see how bright, warm and sunny melbourne once used to be. Now it's dead, grey, cold and barren...Burn...
Yeah outter regional Victoria is still pretty and I always enjoy visiting it when I get the chance. That'll change too though but it'll still take awhile. I mean just look at Geelong, Ballarat or Bendigo now?! They're going out the same way the city is.
Was in Hellborn last week , and the restaurant and Bar owners we spoke to when dining and drinking said that the work from home policy has ruined their businesses , We paid $16 for a pint btw ! Thankyou Labor !
I'm quite happy working from home and not wasting 10 hours a week commuting thank you very much. There's nothing I can do in the office that I can't do at home.
Of course you are , must be a public servant on full pay , saving thousands a year by staying at home in you jarmies , while so many lost their livelihoods .
@@johnmac333 I'm not a public servant you dummy. The government is destroying my livelihood every day with increased property taxes and inflation while the RBA comes at me with interest rate increases. Nobody has my back, so why should I care about businesses in the inner city?
@@johnmac333 Haha, I'm not a public servant. Nice try though. Why should I waste 10 hours a week commuting and thousands of dollars a year for something that doesn't benefit my work producitivity in any way, all to prop up inner city property owners? Especially while the government goes after residential property investors like me with ever increasing land taxes and tenancy laws, and the RBA goes after me with ever increasing interest rates?
Why would we need more public servants, don't we have enough of them already. How may people does it take to change a totally burnt out light bulb, it's too late the bulb has completely shattered. Just as well as we will have no power to run it.
They can easily fix the housing crisis by converting office buildings into apartments, then watch the CBD thrive! Easy fix! While the CBD has had some impact with small business, many suburban cafes are doing well. Btw - the pandemic isn’t over, Covid is still here, & some hospitalisation continues.
C’mon Rita you know that the state government has to look after illegal immigrants before it can even think about looking after the people that actually live here and need a home to live in. It’s disgraceful how our own citizens are being treated by the Allen government.
The coffee shops and restaurants businesses have run their course. So it has always been throughout time. Businesses come and go with changing situations. Why should it be the responsibility of office workers to keep them afloat. If they can't make a go of it then they need to close their doors and do something else.
Hi sky , can anyone explain to me why oh why should we the public ( the peasants ) have to suffer a 3 or 4 year term of these incompetent fools- if it was a private enterprise - these fools would be gone the same day ( without a golden handshake or a huge " tax funded pension " ) , this systems needs change , cheers ( Aussie ) Phil .
Back in the early 90s, when the idiot council closed Swanston Street to through traffic, I boycotted going into the city of Melbourne for anything shopping, theatres, entertainment restaurants, events, etc. My only exception to this rule is that I will drive through the city to get to the otherside.
Recently visited both Melbourne and Sydney, I’m from neither, and the difference is stark. Melbourne is filthy dirty, vagrants everywhere, graffiti out of control. I felt unsafe. You can’t walk down Swanson street or Elizabeth street for fear of tripping over homeless, there dogs and there bedding or also tripping over all the CFMEU clogging the streets in there hi vis drinking coffee, smoking, chatting gdoing anything but working. It is turning into a third world city. So sad. 😮. Sydney is a paradise compared
Thanks to Daniel Andrews and his snappy locdowns he deserves jail time for negligence and ruining the state down it's not a laughing matter he should be punished
Unfortunately I don't agree with precovid lack of flexibility... it's the one good thing that came from that fiasco. I also don't agree this flexibility should be scrapped for the sake of CBDs...
Some sad news: the last of the Rats of Tobruk has died at age 102, these soldiers gave up a lot so we can have our freedoms today, with war looking likely again who will protect us from the scourge of evil? LEST WE FORGET! 🕊️
"We fought the wrong side" US General Patton 1945. Bolsheviks were the real enemy who have now infected the West with their sick ideology. Who was Times magazine man of the year in 1938?
@@kidsoxoxoxim about the only dude that thumbs ups and comments and reposts the shrine memorial youtube channel.. every time im wondering where everyone else is 😔 RIP Tom Pritchard ..
Have to disagree, WFH has given my life so much value. Before covid my kids had no idea who I am, as i left before sunrise and arrived home after they went to bed. Now they see me daily. That is priceless, if you don't have enough discipline to WFH then you should be fired. Dont punish all of us.
I moved to Melbourne after living 7 years in Sydney, relocated due to a new employment situation. Melbourne is my home now as I bought my first property here. It's been 8 years since I started living in Melbourne. And I still miss Sydney, particularly the City/Harbor Bridge/The Rocks area and the beaches. I don't really know what people mean when they say Melbourne CBD is better than that of Sydney's. Must be one of most boring CBD areas anywhere in the world. I hate going to Melbourne CBD. And the beaches here simply look sad. But like I said, Melbourne is my home now and I like the fact that I can visit Sydney every now and then to enjoy what I enjoyed the most when I was living in Sydney
Very sad seeing all the homeless people in the city which contrast the crazy rich Asian students there. Disgusting how the government is accomodating to new migrants but can’t take care of the locals who’ve lived there for generations or decades. Australia’s culture will change to an Asian society soon, Asian hustle culture in the workplace, no more laidback Aussie culture.
They changed the roads in the cbd with team only streets and one way roads etc that it’s so congested now to get around so no one wants to go into the city it’s a nightmare
They possibly couldn’t do less that is subjective as they work in bureaucracy there is no measurement, they don’t have to get out of bed, just collect a wage, that’s ok we pay for it, the good ole tax payer, yep, that’s us
The solution to the youth homelessness problem to for them to be housed in the vacant office space in the city created by government employees working from home!
Why does Victorian Govt want Bureaucrats to even work? Just let them stay home and still pay them. Then employ others who are prepared to come to work at the workplace. At least employment numbers will stay up. 😂😂😂
Well This is one topic I don't support, it is not the responsibility of public servants to bump up revenue of businesses after paying high tax and get etc. On one hand you are projecting weak economy with no money to pay rent....
Investors absolutely should switch from rent seeking and housing to productive assets like shares. Vic Labor has screwed our fine state in many ways but this ain't one of them
Try Canberra charging $17 a day to low income workers in the public service? Why are level 3 & 4 public servants being charged this much why higher levels getting reimbursed?
What public servants got to do with a vacant city. Is it their job to buy overpriced sandwich? Pre covid everyone walking the cbd was public servants? Stupid arguments.
Melbourne never been a good city WFH or not. Actually WFH had brought suburbs to life and local businesses flourish. Screw CBD. Nothing to see there. WFH increased life quality dramatically in Melbourne therefore don't judge a book by its cover. But again, Melbourne will never be as attractive or beautiful as Sydney, Perth, Brisbane for that matter. Melbournian here.
Pot shots at Melbourne…how about the dodgy apartments in Sydney NSW…yeah Melbourne was a having serious issues but it’s rising costs and quick win investments around properties rather than real productivity is one of the factors to consider
You know they are talking about the city and not the state, right? Ruined or not, they still need to work there or work at home. Granted it does feel depressing so it does need some of its spark back and fix what was broken. Just asking.
@@aaronbaines7698 Lots of regional towns were affected to. They may be speaking about Melbourne, but in general lots of businesses and shops outside of Melbourne also shut. Melbourne is no more important than regional centers either, they also have public servants.
Pot holes? Melbourne is in way better condition what are you guys on about? Do you guys even go anywhere? Check all my comments on all your vids I am normally a strong supporter but this is all utter crap
Melbourne city council destroyed all the inner public squares such as the national mutual building that had green space... fountain where office workers were able to meet for lunch. Melbourne has become Dyslexic Dysphagia Dysfunctional Dystopian Labour has destroyed manufacturing in the1990s nothing has changed.
