@@jipke This performance is very disrespectful of Native Hawaiians. It parodies hula, which is deeply meaningful to Hawaiian culture. Finally, having a bunch of white guys make fun of a non western culture is essentially equivalent to performing in blackface.
@@timhazeltine3256 It may be meaningful to their culture, that doesn't mean that it isn't meaningful for non-Hawaiians to have a fun night out. The way I see it, they're not mocking Hawaiian culture, but more like mocking themselves (because they're clearly men trying to portray women, which looks silly), whilst still paying homage to Hawaiian culture (given the song). I must tell you I'm getting herpes from people constantly saying that white people ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY RELATED TO ANY 'ETHNIC' CULTURE. Who are you tell white people what they can or cannot do? In my country (Netherlands) we have foreign visitors (mostly Asians) dressing up in traditional Dutch clothing for the picture. SO WHAT? Let them. They're having fun. I don't care. I saw a guy (an American, by the way) on RU-vid dressing up in traditional Chinese or Mexican clothing, collecting reactions from angry SJWs. The funny part: actual Chinese / Mexicans couldn't care less. By the way, I see at least three 'people of colour' in the Hawaiian skirts; are these three men allowed to do it? And the white guys next to them aren't? Note also that 'blackface' is an American thing, part of American history; stop projecting your American point of view on EVERYTHING even possibly remotely related to ethnicity. It's boring. The rest of the world doesn't care. We mean no harm. Today's woke folks seem to have no idea how ABSOLUTELY racist, hypocritical and condescending for 'people of colour' their stances on topics like these are.
