Jacob Harms na chillin idk why his match with leffen even happened I predicted 5-0 but I didn't predict the memes and level of leffen bm lolol back in the day it was more or less: ken, azen, chudat (then sprinkle in pc chris, kdj, isai) man I miss the old days youd see some Japanese players and American players and wouldn't know faces (for anyone even ken) ust names and everyone is all over the place hypothetical matchups like aniki vs anther or some random thing lolll, never knew who was combo video good or real good like even up until armada it was like dang this armada guy is good, then wait wut he won it all again and again then yooooo whos this Dr peepee lmao what is that name
It seems like as time has gone on with the internet, and ease of sharing stuff, and big tournaments all being recorded, none of that mystery is there anymore, just at local levels; the "old days" kinda seem to remind me of what it would look like if you took a modern, small local scene and just increased it in scale.
Chu dat definitely has a better legacy than Isai (in singles at least) and Korean DJ, I don't see why he wasn't given his own episode on the documentary.
Choice Specs Elton John cuz most of his prime time was him purposely losing or sand bagging to ken. As interesting as that is, I don't think it's worth it to make a whole episode about that.
When I think Chudat, those S@X troll moments are what come to mind more than all his amazing accomplishments, honestly. And that's why I love the guy. He's a clown with insane skills.
MultishineGod Chudat and Ken lived together because Chu was dating Kens sister. Had Chu been winning and getting the prize money, they would have likely kicked him out of the house because he wasn't supporting them as much as Ken was.
Coodles Parks but I feel like chadat plays and invented the version of the character that people don't hate - lots of non-wobbling hand-offs, desyncs, and a sick sopo
As much as I wanna agree with the OP on playing a disliked character, I'm gonna agree with boezou here, he's one of, if not is, the most entertaining IC's player to watch, and was (I think) once, or still is, the best Sopo. I literally cannot watch any other IC's other than Chudat's, because he's so fun to watch compared to Fly Amanita, Wobbles, and Nintendude. But Coodles isn't wrong, IC's in general have a very negative reputation due to the Wobble being discovered, and used extensively in competitive.
The only popular videos on RU-vid of Chudat are of him being a troll with Kirby or doubles with Chillindude. I've seen other videos of him but you have to dig to find them.
Love Chudat, one of my favorites. I'm actually glad he got as much coverage as he did in the Doc, hell I learned more about him than players with their own episodes.
This is totally an awesome vid. I was absolutely enlightened on the history of smash and, more importantly, the respect tjat veterans have for this guy!
Tafo do you really think Ken was actually better than Chu or do you think Chu was throwing the whole time since he was dating Ken's sister? It's been a while since I've seen the documentary but I feel like that's presented as a strong possibility and is fun to speculate about
You can probably say he played in 13 different spans of a year. But from the start of his carreer "officially" starting to now, it's 12. So yes and no.
Whenever I see Chu at big tournaments, I expect him to get at laest top 32, if not top 16. Definitely a fan. Hopefully one day he'll win a stacked major.
maybe should've mentioned the wins on hbox, mew2king and not doing much else in 2012 was debatably enough give him 9th in a yearly ranking as smash history would have me believe.
speaking of Fly, would love to see an episode on him. He seemed to be a very skilled player who took games from other notable players, but then kind of disappeared.
I'm not sure how Samox went about planning the people in the doc, but I'd say maybe he didn't give Chu an episode because of Azen? I'm not sure Samox could've missed Chu's dominance over M2K/KDJ in MLG era. That being said, because Azen and Chu were in the same crew, maybe Samox decided he didn't want to add more than one member of the same crew? Because Chillin (in the doc, and afterwards when talking about it) said after Azen, was always Chu.
If I'm remember the documentary correctly, didn't Chudat move in with Ken at one point, and thus train with him a lot? I think this improved his tourney results (though I'm not 100% sure on that; it's in the documentary), but if Ken wasn't around this wouldn't have happened. Also, wasn't Chudat still outclassed by Azen?
In his viewing of the doc on his stream, Chillin said that Chudat could have finished first at a lot of events but was pressured to let Ken win due to their close relationship. If that's true, that's pretty crazy.
