In myth Zeus is her father, who shapeshifted into Hades to trick Persephone. I'm not surprised this game got rid of that, because it's American Pie levels of nonconsensual. And I can tell they didn't go for it in this game, it won't even be a plot twist, because Melinoë is the spitting image of Hades right down to her flaming feet, just like Zagreus. No mistake to be made here, he's definitely the father.
If we ever get to rescue Zag he's going to instantly get an aneurysm when Mel casually says "denied" or asks him to please not move her stuff from how she organized it
@@diethylmalonate The organization thing is very funny to me because despite being opposites in that regard, they're more or less like that for the exact same reason - control. In Hades, Zagreus' rebellions are his way of taking control back from an otherwise orderly, overbearing father. He goes out of his way to keep it messy as evidence that he doesn't have to conform to Hades' whims despite being trapped in the House In Hades 2, Mel outright tells Dora that the reason she prefers things neat is because it's one of the few things she has control over in the face of overwhelming odds and the chaos of war.
Same. Specially after all his development in Hades 1. He's notably softer on Zagreus at the later portions of the game. He even marks Zag employee of the "day" if you win enough.
It's also heartbreaking how much he softens specifically when he hears about her upbringing. On top of not being there to witness it like he would have wanted, it's hard to imagine he doesn't feel responsible for his daughter effectively being raised as a child soldier for the sole purpose of stopping something he 'allowed' to happen by not being prepared for Chronos.
Hades has to be going through it emotionally. After reuniting his family and making amends with his son, he was determined to do better. He definitely had plans to be better to his second child, but tragedy spoiled those plans.
He’s a hardass, definitely stubborn, and pretty apathetic in most cases… but if I’ve realized anything from the first game he does care for his children in the ways a father needs to.
The fact that Zagreus and Hades finally start mending their relationship by the end of the first game. So I can’t imagine how heartbreaking it is to see his long lost daughter throwing herself into the fray against a Titan
I like how as one commenter said Melinoe reflects her father the way Zagreus reflects his mother. I choose to interpret that to mean that Melinoe is a Daddy’s Girl while Zagreus is a Momma’s Boy.
I like how despite having their usual cloaked placeholder art, they decided to have Hades's sketch since he's such a beloved character to not show the WIP of whats he's gonna like.
it's probably gonna be a recurring subquest where cerb slowly warms up to her and you get an achievement for it lol. probably gonna add farmable satyr sacks that you can bring all the way to cerberus
Melinoe finding hades has the same exact feel and vibe as Zagreus finding Persephone, and I LOVE that they did that! I am kind of sad that you don’t find him AFTER you beat Chronos, like in the first game with Persephone, though… Also, I just realized that he’s shackled in the same place Sisyphus was.
Damn kinda sad seeing the big man like that. But damn those boons are good. Also nice to see that his character development from Hades 1 did not roll back. He is much more openly affectionate. Shame Zag cant see how his work has paid off.
I'm pretty sure he saw his dad get better. We don't know when the second game takes place but I'm sure in between games zagreus and hades had a better relationship.
I understand why Hades is more fearful in comparison from him in the first game. Imagine being imprisoned by your own father and imprisoned your son and wife for all time. Then spending every waking moment of what he'll do to them.
I remember me and my friends discussing Hades 2 and wondering how OP Melinoe's family's boons were going to be, cause they had to be GOOD good. Loking at Hades's boons, we were right. They have the capability to be absolutely BUSTED. Especially against Chronos.
We already have his Arcana, and it's just a really strong core ability, and it nicely ties into his unbelievable persistence. I can't wait to see him, whether he helps in a fight, gives a Boon, or does something else entirely.
@@jacobhanson8083 Ahh that's true isn't it. The wayward son, it said iirc. It perfectly fits him. Personally, my ideal choice would be something akin to Cerebus, he's under control so there's a huge boss fight that's hard as hell, then after the fight he regains control and gives you a boon in return while he either dies and goes to the Styx or gets transported by chronos. I just wonder how it'll be incorporated, if he's a permanent rescue or a temporary one to be tried again and again like Cerberus.
It's kinda crazy but all of Hades Boons are absolutely busted... well, maybe besides Unseen Ire lol Deep Dissent is my favorite because cutting out 50% of the enemies in the Chronos fight makes it so much easier to deal with since Chronos alone isn't too bad
Something fun, this place is actually where lord hades trapped king Sisyphus. You can see bouldy with a rather dashing combover behind Cerberus. A fun detail
AUGH. hades wants melinoë nowhere NEAR here and yet she keeps coming back. it's so heartbreaking knowing how scared he is of chronos, that he keeps having to watch his daughter run off, presumably to fight chronos, and presumably dying each time she tries. he tells her that it took himself and five other gods to do what she's doing alone. aushwudhjdhfekfjdkfjdk i haven't even PLAYED it yet and i'm already so distraught over this. i need to reunite mel with persephone and zagreus asap. auhsierhisbfjehfjsjc 🥺🥺🥺 edit: NOT THE ABSOLUTE DESPAIR IN HIS VOICE WHEN SHE TELLS HIM SHE'S BEEN TRAINING FOR THIS HER ENTIRE LIFE. he did NOT want this for her. at ALL.
The daughter preference is insane, Even after all of Hades 1 when he turns more soft and accepts his feelings, i don't see him ever treating Zagreus this nicely lmao
I mean you gotta keep in mind that this game takes place probably years after the events of the first game. I wouldn't be surprised if Hades had gotten this soft with Zag over that time period, we're just seeing the end result now with Melinoe.
@@InkiBlues slight Spoiler it is said after the first run i think. Melinoe. was born right before Chronos Attacked so it's how many years between game one and that + how old Melinoe. is
TBF, by the end of the plot in Hades 1, his and Zagreus's relationship was already mended. By the time you get past the party with the Olympians, they fight mostly just to make sure that Hades is still up to the task of being the Underworld's last line of defense.
tbf he was just trying to protect his son from his divorce and seperation all while he was prosperous and king but now hes meeting the daughter he never got a chance to talk to while kronos is fucking up the whole world and chained his whole family
Might also be that the isolation and just not knowing where Melinoė was and if she got out alright after he sent her away as well. Like he's been completely cut off from his entire family, and knowing that one is safe, with that one being the daughter who was but a newborn when he last saw her, that has got to be a speck of light in what was just pure darkness.
I really hope not, I don't want protagonists being pitted against each other when they're both on the same side. I like basking in zag's max skills and letting melinoe develop hers as the game progresses.
@@byunbaekhyun4010 It could be in the context of a sparing match or just siblings having fun/bonding time. A postgame only fight for after the threat of Chronos is finally dealt with, The House Of Hades Inhabitants are Freed, and everyone is allowed to have a bit of fun.
i screamed out loud when i finally met him for the first time, and i SCREAMED LOUDER when you meet him without Cereberus and you meet another old friend. its truly amazing and i desperately ant this to progress.
Most but Chaos fish also have a generic drawing. Certain characters appear as clocked figures. Sometimes not long ago the keepsakes were looking identical, with but a tag attached to them that would bear a letter of the respective keepsake-giver. The roadmap that is available on the title screen mentions that since the game's yet in the early access, some art may be incomplete. Hades and a variety of other characters are one of them.
@Mauricio0973 Oh, Demeter would be a nightmare. If anything happens to Persephone, she automatically assumes Hades had something to do with it, and she won't be convinced otherwise. Demeter absolutely HATES Hades, like, "Kill Literally Everything" level of hate.
@@diethylmalonate We know from the trailer she was trying to kill Cronos and save her family and saw her dead in changes it's not a Spoiler. unless you thought she would fail the task she can try and infant number of times
@@Sultan-uj4jlhe was frozen in time along side most of the other people in the house of Hades there’s a cutscene where Hades confront his father and we can see him there unable to move or speak
because clicks are more important to these people than not ruining the fun for others -_- Like I uploaded the same first clip plus music with the spoiler warning + blank thumbnail and got basically nothing
Looks like a colored sketch! Since its early access its similar to how other characters like Charon have placeholder portraits since their's are incomplete, but since Hades is kinda a huge character, they might have decided that the rough sketch was worth having just for the sake of having his face to look at.
Early access, But I get why your a bit surprised since tho its early access it looks so polished. Since its eaely access some assets are still drawings
His current design is being used as a placeholder, the game is still in early access, so the full game hasn't been released. We're waiting for the 1.0 launch once the full game releases all place holders will have the artwork updated and finalized.
I hate that they did this to him. It's a classic writer move when in order to hype up the new badass, the old one is shown to be miserable. Same thing happened with Hulk and Thanos in MCU, for instance. I cannot stand this move. It gets me mad at the writers instead of getting sad for the character.
@@wonpiri___jinani3340 There are many things they could've done: 1) Make Hades attempt to break out repeatedly, as Zagreus once did. He is too weak to beat Chronus alone, but that doesn't stop him from trying. 2) Have Hades be imprisoned, but not have a broken will. He could be beaming with rage inside some sort of time barrier. 3) Remove Hades entirely. Have him be frozen in time or something, just like they did with Zageus.
@@peezieforestem5078 Well Chronos has his family in complete stasis. It's not like Hades doesn't want to try to save them. But if he tries breaking out like you say, what's to stop Chronos from just wiping his family from time or something? It's not the same situation as Zag, Chronos wants this man to suffer. That's why he didn't freeze him with the others.
@@megablueflash1816 A difficult problem doesn't justify a broken will. There are millions situations like this IRL. For instance, I have relatives who have MiA and PoW relatives who are likely being tortured. These people don't give up, if anything, they try their hardest to get the PoWs back, even when it looks like there's nothing they can do. Breaking Hades mentally was a deliberate choice on the writers part, it wasn't some inevitable consequence of the universe.
His will is not actually broken though, there are several conversations (both between him and Mel and between Mel and others) pointing to the fact that he remains sane of mind
