September has been a wonderful month in the vegetable garden after the poor August we had! The peppers and chilies are leaping into life (albeit too late). Very excited about the first grapes and Melons :D

Wow such a good harvest. Your mom working around the garden then suddenly realized she’s being filmed on video, your mom is so sweet, she has such a great demeanor shows lots of care and patience with a soft voice, you both remind me of my mom and I in our garden when I was younger. We are still in the mid 80 degrees here in America in the state of Oklahoma, so ready for cooler weather. We don’t get slugs here our demise is the squash bugs, which in days can devour a squash plant ugh! It’s a never ending endeavor as a gardener for sure. Have a blessed day to you and your mom😊💜

Well clean each petal with a dump cloth , then dip lightly in flour , and fry them up , most keep under control as it get burn quickly , sprinkle with salt et voilà could be enjoying instead of crisps or with fish it's a treat, love from 🇫🇷

Something I've learned (from watching content creators here in the US struggle with bad composts deliveries) is to ALWAYS put a bean in your new batches of pretty much anything! It will quickly sprout and look good or it won't. My tiny backyard garden requires hardly any external inputs, but when I move next year, and start a larger homestead... I SURE HOPE I remember that little trick! It was bad. I saw plenty of people scraping out and dumping their soils. Of course others decided to amend it heavily and also put in cover crops and not grow for a whole year. Crazy. I believe they called it "Grayzon!?" Spelling? Thanks for all you show me. I know we'd be the BEST of buds 😊 I feel as if I've known you for YEARS! creepy!? 😂

@@CLFL14256 yep. Sure does!! Part of what contributes to getting bad soils and fertilizers is the massive increase in gardening and homesteading. Double edged sword I suppose 🩷 hard to keep up with the demand, so they're not letting things rest or cool long enough

I've just planted beans in 5 pots of different compost to test them out before adding to my garden. 2 types are much cheaper and 1of those looks really nice compost but I will not risk another year of deformed tomatoes and beans.

Hi Jessie & your Mum, I'm starting to use coir just for sowing seeds as I'm worried about the peat free compost. I'm not sure what they are going to throw in this peat free stuff. It's raining here in Wirral now & it's going to get colder too. Those cauliflowers are amazing. I hope you find a supplier too. They grapes are gorgeous, yum! Lil looks so comfy bless her 😻 the peppers you have picked are looking really good and I hope you get more, too. My peppers are the same, took a while to get going but, are now providing at a slow pace but, still going. I'm glad your mum had a lovely Birthday. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

If there's grapes that are still bitter, you can make verjuice from them. It can be used as a substitute for lemon juice.

Jessie, how about trying park Choi in hanging baskets then in the tunnel? And in the shower do use backer board. It is more expensive than plaster board, but it does not absorb any water should the grout fail, it doesn’t buckle…but it is heavier.

I have been watching since I discovered your vlog on building your polytunnel. I can recommend a tomato variety that I have grown this year. Nagina, it's an outdoor plum, blight resistant, which it most certainly is (£1.25 from Just Seed). All my other outdoor varieties got blight and the tomatoes in my polytunnel also got blight. Yet today 5/10 I picked 12 all red and the size of hens eggs from 2 plants. It has been a very productive variety (grown in Cornwall).

I’m so glad you liked the copper river I’ll send some new varieties if you like. Autumn is defo here it’s cold and wetter with the occasional warm sunny day. 17:58 what is that huge branch are the grapes 🍇 escaping to the bean arch 😅. 20:06 team work makes the grapes work 👍. Re your seeds in the allotment greenhouse I wonder if you could construct a hanging shelf? I've seen this on a couple of other You Tube sites and although these have been put up in polytunnels I would imagine that one could be made and used either as a temporary seed station or left up permanently in your greenhouse? No doubt a determined slug or snail might make its way up the glass and onto the platform but it might keep the majority away. To make it even trickier for these pests placing copper tape purchased online or from a garden centre around the shelf/pots or hanging supports could also be tried. As for the caterpillars I know you need to keep the greenhouse door open for ventilation but could a butterfly door curtain be put up just inside the entrance using butterfly netting? Constructed in a way not to hinder you or your Mum's entry and exit? Perhaps using an old fashioned net curtain wire at the top?

When I lived in Maine slugs were a problem. Being a Southerner, I had never dealt with them. But I discovered that little pots of beer solved my problems with the slimy buzzards. I used them wherever I was trying to get seedlings going. This has been poopooed many times but worked for me. We are back South and there are enough lizards to eat the little darlings that I needn’t be a slug bartender anymore. Just a thought. Cheers.

Hey Jessie, For what it is worth I like the straight hair. We should have our first avg frost Oct 1st yet we are having daytime temps of 27° C to 31° C the past 4 days. We have not evening frosts forecast for the next 14 days. I am glad about 10 days ago I put fertilizer out and heavy water to get the final puch from the garden. I still have tons of small green tomatoes so we will see how far they get. Your Grapes looked super good. I am trying to measure this year's results vs my spring expectations. Then I can start looking at what to plant next year and get all the seeds ordered. I was happy with some that I was ready to give upon but did well this year. Others still not working so they maybe all done now. I did get 2 Black Trifele plants to produce tomatoes and I will have some the next couple days. Too bad that the poor compost had stunted the chillies this year. They are the most finike plants of the bunch. The Thai basil looks fantastic. Thank you for the video today look forward to next week. bye for now

Oh the contortions we go through for grapes! LOL What a beautiful cluster! Have you tried iron phosphate pellets (in Canada it's called Slug-B-Gon made by Ortho) around your pak choi to get rid of slugs? It is very effective and not harmful to birds or other animals, however the sparrows love it for some reason.
