In this video, I demonstrate how to melt a Rockwell Barbershop shave puck into a bowl for a perfect custom fit. The entire process took just about 10 minutes. While this channel is a proud brand ambassador for Rockwell Razors, I want to clarify that this particular soap was purchased by me, and nothing in this video was provided by Rockwell. Enjoy watching!

Me too. Now I want to buy a bunch of refill lucks……and bowls to melt them into. I still want that Rockwell bowl though.

Does this process work with tallow based soaps?

That I don’t know, but, one of the videos I watched GeoFatBoy said “Make sure it’s a glycerin based soap”. I would assume that means that a tallow based soap would be no good.

@@MullyShaves can you link the geofatboy video where he uses the same technique as in your video? The only videos I see of his melting soap uses a microwave. Thanks

Yeah, you’re watching what I watched. I don’t think microwave or stove top would matter though. Again, though, I don’t know. I can only make assumptions from what I’ve seen.

Looking around online I’m reading that with a tallow based soap you should definitely NOT microwave it. Some have suggested grating it into a bowl and doing the water bath method like I used. If you do it let me know how it works out.

You could keep it solid and use it like a stick. Just rub on face and lather up.

Nah, that doesn’t sound even remotely appealing. Hehe!!! I had thought about that but was like “yeah, that ain’t me”. This is 100% in my wheelhouse. Now I want to buy other refill lucks…..and I’ll need more bowls. Hehehe!!

Why would be doing this can someone explain it to me n thx

The reason for this is so once it cools, the soap will be solid inside the bowl and will not drop out.
