I like the idea of just casting it in dirt. I dunno if molten gold has that fun tendency to explode if cast into a cool mold, but if it does then it’s nice to have one less thing to worry about forgetting to do!
You probably know this, but make sure you have NO moisture in your mold. Your molten metals can explode out of it, potentially losing you lots of money
@PioneerPauly get an log torch and a bar mould. Char the inside of the bar mould thoroughly and using a ceramic bowl and the lpg torch melt the gold adding borax to clean out any impurities. Lastly pour the molten gold into the bar mould and once solid remove from the mould onto some metal object before placing into a bit of acid and giving a quick polish and clean so you can take it to a metal merchant/gold supplier! We jewellers do it this way because it's quicker and easier.

Depends on many things , Crystalline gold is the closest to 9999 , some reefs in Western Australia went around 500 or if you prefer half . If you are buying natural nuggets , colour can be a good indication , visible crystal formations and location can also help . Most serious prospectors simply send ugly stuff to refineries and keep or sell Beautiful crystals/nuggets for there Beauty and Purity .
The quality of gold doesn’t depend on if it’s in it’s “natural state” but it’s grade. Say if the gold is super new and shiny thats most likely 24k but if its dull and super old or maybe rusty whatever the low quality it would be closer to 10k (exaggeration)
