why should a solid be finely powdered for use in a melting point determination?
@theresah4865
@theresah4865 4 года назад
A finely ground powder packs more tightly, thus eliminating the air pockets she discussed.

can some one help??? i did a melting point on l-theanine and i want to know if its pure ( its a supplement i purchased off ebay so its important that it doesn't have shit in it.) but any way it melted at 210 and it all melted very quickly 1degc, is this a pure chemical?? a data sheet says that its supposed to melt at 214 - 216. how can you tell the purity exactly without a pure sample to compare it to? thanks tim

Why does more substance take longer to melt than less substance?
@MultiMarlene12
@MultiMarlene12 3 года назад
because it will take longer for the heat to travel the more substance there is.
