you can shield the arcdrive, just figured it when she first got a victory and went balls-e with the shield (the one where you press D with crescent and half moons)

I clearly recall barely making it past the final listed enemy in the game the first time I played it (went for Hard straight away), my sigh of relief catching in my throat at the intro theme… the bleakness and futility of my struggles blatantly apparent as the dust not settled, but billowed forth, arose and materialized into The End. Holy fuck, this last boss was extreme. Extremely imposing, extremely frustrating, extremely awesome. Not the “Awesome hotdogs - only $2.99” kind of awesome, but the original, “I cannot breathe/my jaw is on the floor/I am shaking from awe” AWESOME.
