For 10 health. And the cards might not weigh your deck down enough to make the 10 health not worth it, that’s the theorycrafting behind renethal. And control games can go to fatique in which case you almost auto win with the only renethal

@@protoss5758 I’m not talking about win condition, but there are games that do go to fatigue and always have been no matter how much people complained about aggro. It doesn’t mean that this happens every game and against non-control decks it almost never happens, but it’s still important to consider not as the way to win when building the deck but as something that does happen. And that wasn’t even my primary point

Red herring is a literary device that isn't only applicable to the English language.. It's not a play on words or slang used in a specific country/language.

@@fallendeus5641 it's not slang, but it's an idiom that's almost completely unknown outside of the English-speaking world and was only introduced the last 10-20 years or so to some languages as a loan-term, if at all. Do you know what "Zero-Eight-Fifteen" in German means? Or "One Old Water" in Cantonese? Those are also not plays on words but idioms as well.

@@neozoen8665 quick note, Red herrings are WAY older than 10 to 20 years, in English or otherwise. For an example of this, the show "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" which premiered in 1988 had a character named after the trope, Red Herring, who was, as the name implies, often a false lead in whatever mystery they were solving. So in English, before considering where the writers of that show would have gotten the name from, that's already 34 years back. Yeah. I don't know what localizations they would have used in other countries for the show, but it's been around for a long time and able to be spread by media for even longer.

@@genzo454 "Against all Odds" was translated in italian as "Pareggiare i Conti", which means "To get even". "Pareggiare" has "Pari" in it, which means "even". Translators just found another play on words. Impending Catastrophe was trslated as "Catastrofe Imp-minente", which keeps the same play on words. Red Herring hasn't.

I think hearthstone interprets the high number as a 0. So when when using the spell on Cariel hearthstone will be thinking it'll do 0 damage, Cariel with half it, which basically is just 0 again.

Overflown dagger might be a better name for the last card, since you will whiff(deal 0 damage) unless you focus and "combo" it, while also less explanation is needed for the card

Also in hyper late game control style decks, you could play this card as a finisher after you've emptied/nearly emptied your deck to get the recurring effect for a longer time and getting more stats and a more sticky minion (kinda like a reverse Rattlegore)

Nothing, it deals 0 damage. The only way this thing could deal damage is negative spell damage. Or to Cariel, but that depends on how the damage halving effect is coded internaly.

Harmless puppy shouldn't die automatically. It should be a deterrent. It makes happy noises, whimpers when you mouse over it, and makes a loud blood-curdling whimper when it dies to make players feel bad for removing it. But a minion is a minion, and it can still be a problem if it gets buffed.
