I think I may know what you are talking about. I never do this though; I have a very simple knot that points the end of the belt downward. I just googled the classic burberry knot and it came up with a great step by step procedure on how to do it. Good luck!

any reason why you are wearing women's style trench coat? (stormpatch/rain patch should be on right men's right hand shoulder, for women's it should be on left hand shoulder)

Nice review! You're right, there aren't many reviews on Burberry trench coats. I have looked myself and found only a few. I have a black Burberry trench. I don't get to wear it often as I only wear it on a cloudy or rainy day. Such a great coat..looks good and is comfortable. I like the military look of a trench coat....belt, epaulettes on shoulders, cuff belts etc. I usually only use the belt if it is pouring rain and I just tie a knot. I think a Burberry trench looks nice either way. These coats really are a great investment!

The more recent London trenches have the Burberry check to the rear of the collar, visible when you "pop" it.

You freaked me out so much. I went back home to find that apparently the Mac camera I used to record the video reflects images backwards, so it appears I button the jacket to the left. I was going to be furious if I bought a women's jacket and they wouldn't accept a return. Thanks for the learning experience though, did know there was a gender specific way to button trenches.

I think the vintage Burberry trench coats ftom around the 1980's are much better quality and all made in England and at least go down to your knees. These modern trench coats are way to short in lenght.

Yeah I absolutely agree that I paid way too much for this, but you are correct, it is a dream factor, and I have something so iconic that I will never need to replace it unless it completely wears out, or if I decide to get a black trench coat. Sadly, it will probably be a black Burberry trench too lol.

I bought the black one recently and I have to agree that it's discreet. I don't want people to know that I'm wearing a 1600 dollar coat (turkish exchange rate is pretty steep). also your collar length is spot on, any shorter your jacket collars would show.

Totally agree with you on the "Brit" range. Again, if you've read anything about branding this relates to "democratising" a brand. Corporate speak for "making cheap crap" the masses can afford. Burberry have hard fought the trench coat battle with Aquascutum and won. Jury's out for me on who is the definitive "trench coat" designer.

As soon as I read this, I called the Burberry store. Apparently the british are doing away with the gender specific buttoning. Either way, I don't think it makes a difference.

Absolutely. Most of the price tag of me had to do with intrinsic value. That is probably one of the last things I will ever buy from Burberry though. I find the only quality stuff they make is trench coats and scarves. Their burberry brit apparel is garbage for the money.

I thought this a good review. Ref: the belt. I think you're right, the quality isn't there. Not for the amount you're dropping. I also feel the "leather" buckles seem like the cheapest quality leather you can get. But you're paying for the brand and anyone who has read anything about brand, this means you can charge a premium for what's know as the "dream factor." Still it is the definitive coat and I think it fits well. Has yours "raglan sleeves?" They were designed to sit well over a suit.

its a great coat. not sure if the store employee gave you right information. check burberry dot com. i have not found one single trench on their site for men's who has storm patch on left hand shoulder. when you are a guy and go outside with the trench coat on, people who has been wearing trench coat's for for years will notice the difference immediately. Take care of it and it will last you a very long time.
