Nah, I think he peaked when he broke 10 in Highschool…If the Olympics were last year it might of been a different story. Track is based upon peaking at the right time..you could be in your best mind and body shape at 18. Then when you run for a minute it gets aggravating and not as much fun…I know phenoms who ran 1:49 in H.S but when they got to college the were running 1:54…smh

Theres a 17 year old that just ran a 19.8 slowing down in trials. Many people are levels above this kid, Boling will never be a threat in the 100/200 hes bettee off switching to decathlon. idk why people make excuses time after time for him, hes so overrated its crazy

@@taljaypuryear1240 he never broke 10, he ran with a very strong tailwind. He has not broke ten with being wind aided. His peak is not fast enough. His 100m and 200m time earlier in the season still wouldn't have helped him make the Olympic team.

@@lilcourtny08 jesus...he was right...u only dislike him because hes white. I watched the video that guy posted...his first lap indoor of that 45 400 he ran 20.17. And a split is a split regardless of what you think. So he has ran a 44. A high 44 but still a 44. And he did almost false start in the 100m trials and still placed 4th. You may not like him and that is your opinion..your opinion doesnt change the fact you're going to see this guy in big races in the future. Good day

Definitely a fan of Boling, but doesn't have elite sprinter's speed. Might do better in the 200m, because he has better high end speed, but will need to make big changes to compete in the 100m against current field.

@@notyouraveragejoe2777 it's not highschool anymore, it's easy to be relaxed when you know there isn't a challenge to run against. Relaxed or not it didn't matter, he just isn't fast enough.

The Boling phenomenon is indeed interesting... but saying off-the-wall shit like "he's the next Usain Bolt" whilst ignoring the likes of Jaylen Slade and Erriyon Knighton is as irrational as the dumbest racism.

This is good experience for matt, running against older more experienced athletes. I think in the end he will be best suited to the Decathlon, he's a brilliant all rounder, also a kick boxing expert.

Why does no one understand that none of the guys in the entire heat ran their best lol most ran far slower than their best that’s what happens at Olympic trials especially with new young college guys who are coming off the longest toughest seasons of their careers and have to jump right into training for the trials he was never going to make that spot it’s a testament for him to even be there in the heat lol he was literally a 200m National champion and one of the best 400m guys in the country he’s gonna be just fine for years to come lol

@@klaytonkent5203 Boling should have followed the other collegiate prospects and saved his legs for the 200m. Athing Mu did the right thing to only run one event for the NCAAs and concentrate just on the 800m for olympic trials.

Matthew Boling ran a 10.22 in the semi-finals (heat 2) on 6/20/2021. He placed 7 of 8 in the heat and did not make the finals. He ran a 10.13 in the 1st round the day before, advancing him to the semi's.

I don't know what is happening with Boling. His running style is alot different now than it was about a year ago. His running THEN was a lot more steady in the upper body and head and a much quicker turnover in his legs. Now, his upper body goes from side to side and his leg turnover is much slower. Him and his coach should look at film of the way that he used to run and how he is running now. I'm wondering if he is spending too much time with weights or too heavy of weights. Not sure what the problem is, but they should get it fixed before it affects his mind... which could end his career in running.

@Ric Jones well he has the 7th best time in the 200 this year, definitely can improve in that event and possibly medal at a major event. but ya decathlon could be good, not sure how his high jump/ pole vaults are tho, kind of awkward events to learn on the fly

I think Boling's best event would be 400 meters.He's already clocked fast time in hs. That is his best bet for glory.Too much talent in the 100m/200m. Maybe even tinker with 800m.But that could be a stretch.Also anchor man on the 4 x 400m at Georgia next year.

his times in high school were what gave him the attention. He wasn't overrated. The problem is he hasn't improved in 2 years. He's still among the top 10-20 fastest in the country. And yes, the color of his skin did bring attention to him. The fact is it is highly unusual for a white man to be that fast.
