I’m still new to the channel and love that you show using ‘regular’ products from the store shelves with your homemade items. Keepin it real. Very encouraging. ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness! The only thing that was disappointing was… I was not at your home!!! Everything looks delicious!!! I want to make that strawberry shortbread! Everything you cooked was absolutely delicious I’m sure! Ty for sharing the recipe and taking time out of your busy edit and post. Your son did an amazing job helping. It’s good to let the children help when it’s possible. Great training Mom!!
I'm not a Mennonite, but I grew up on a farm in Central California doing basically the same things. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. My husband and I have a large garden that we love ❤️ to process after summer harvest. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Sweet family! I so enjoy your videos, it brings me back to when I was a child and was learning from my grandmother and mother. I’m not Mennonite, but did grow up on a farm and the simple way of living. I didn’t know what a hamburger was till I was a teenager, we only had homemade and never went to a diner or fast food place. I raised my children with a garden, our farm animals and would cull a hog or two every year. I’m too old now since my husband is gone, I’m not able to do it by myself. Your meals looked delicious. I hope you and your family have a blessed day!
Right off the bat, I'm so glad someone else is that particular about strawberry tops. I cringe when I watch everyone else chop big chunks off their strawberries.
My grandma would plop me down in the strawberry patch as a little one and just let me eat them right from the ground greens and all 😂 Still the best tasting strawberries in the world still warm from the sunshine.
I love watching your videos. The Children are a real treat. Thank you so much for sharing the life of your family with us. It truly brings joy to so many of us. 💐🙏🇺🇸
I so enjoy your videos!!! We used to live down the road from some old order mennonites and they would give us fresh milk and my husband helped with his fields sometimes. He drove his tractor with metal wheels. He loved it!
So glad I found you on utube!!! My grandpa and grandma from Lowe Farm, Manitoba were Mennonite, they were very resourceful and I have found as I get older I enjoy doing the same!!!
OMGood Grief 🎉 THE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE is simply glorious! It's January as I watch this and my mouth can actually taste the June berries. Thanks so much for all you do! Saved this video, the Mountain Pies and Ham Salad .. Wowww.
Yum, yum, yum; thank you for this shortcake recipe! Strawberry pie, Strawberry angel food cake, and strawberry shortcake with whipped cream are my favorite desserts. Love a good strawberry cake w/frosting, too.
Hello from southern Maryland. I'm a new subscriber, living in Amish country. I'm totally enjoying your show, love your precious family, and am enjoying your tutorials. You are a true teacher. Learning so much and feeling great regret for many wasted years and resources. Since we don't get do overs, Ill strive to do better with your inspiration. Already have some dried Comfrey steeping in almond oil anticipating making salve. Thanks for being so bold and brave and sharing real life with us. Thanks to Geandmom and mom too. Peace. 😊
Ruth, you are so amazing! Your down to earth, your expansive knowledge is IMPRESSIVE. Since finding your channel 2 days ago--have watched you for hours and hours and shared your channel w EVERYONE!
❤l love all that you share! Looks delicious and I learn something every time I watch your videos. Although I am older I have a hard time waiting to the end to comment. I absolutely love all of this, the kids, recipes, gardening….. your story! Thank you!
Loved the video. I look forward to seeing your videos. Such a lovely family and farm life. So important to include children in chores. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you and the family.
I am glad that you have family near you. I was thinking that you must be lonely for your family, if you lived in Iowa and they in Pennsylvania. I love hearing telling us about your teachings from your mother and grandmother, and I’ve incorporated some of your mindfulness into my own daily life.
Thank you so much for your videos. It is so reminiscent of the way I grew up on a Minnesota dairy farm. I almost got teary eyed seeing the Bleeding Heart. We now live in Washington and I can’t seem to keep a BleedingHeart more than 2 years. A farm is a great place to raise kids.
I love your videos, but this might be my favorite. Everything looks so delicious! My mouth is watering and I think I could eat half of that shortcake by myself. Just give me a couple of days! 😂😅
I thank you and each of your family members for opening up your family life to me and each of us. You are reminding each of us what normalcy is during these bizarre times we live in. Blessings to each of you. Please continue in this Good work as I believe it is a powerful testimony of our Gracious GOD. Amen.
Ive only been able to save 5 strawberries so far, every other one has been ate. 😅 freshly picked fron the garden cause i know i dont use chemicals on them. My son loves them on a warm day when there still kinda warm from the sun. He says they are the best then. ❤
You are awesome!! We just moved to Burlington Junction MO and are starting a small farm. Yesterday we picked cherries from our cherry tree and today we are canning them! I first watched your video on that and am following what you did. I also watched more of your videos while I was putting the cherries. Love your channel!
I am so happy you and your husband got saved and you chose to live for him but retain the good principles you learned all your life. You are a blessing.
Really enjoyed this video, I’m going to go over and get the recipe for the shortcake it looks really yummy. I often wish for a dairy cow, as I love all things dairy, perhaps one day things will work out. I love your simple but busy life. I did want share that if you make your own mayonnaise, because store bought has a horrible unhealthy trans fat as an emulsifier, that you could add a couple of Tbsp of a fermented liquid and by leaving it on the counter for 6-8 hour kicks of the ferment and will help the mayonnaise last about 2 months in the refrigerator. Thank you for your wonderful video today I will eagerly look forward to you next one ❣️
Carrot seed sow 1/4 inch deep and rows15 inches apart, when seed is in ground and before the earth is drawn back over it ,pour boiling hot water over them from your tea kettle. Cover with the 1/2inch soil. I used this on my ground cherries it works and they germinated faster ,thick as well.
That must be so frustrating to have to depend on rain to grow your crops! I live I SW Idaho, which is a high desert. We could not grow anything but sagebrush without the snowmelt from the mountains that is stored in reservoirs and delivered via canals and ditches.
@@cynthiafisher9907 thanks Cynthia. It is frustrating. Started so many plants with the promise of spring/ early summer rains that never came. We are watering. Hopefully, our well will hold strong.
Oh my goodness, Azure Standard is an *Oregon* company! Why have I not heard of them before!?! Even my little Oregon coastal town has an AS drop-off site, so I will be looking into it for future purchases for my own pantry :D It's so hard to find nut butters without sugar, salt and palm oil in our stores, for just one example. Love watching your stories about how you manage your home, I never had that kind of training in cooking, canning, preserving, or cleaning. What a great legacy of healthy living you are giving to your family! Blessings!!
