I had instant surgical menopause at age 31. So I understand. I'm 136 days into carnivore and my hippocampus, hypothalamus and pituitary glands have been stimulated now that my brain is ketone fueled. I can feel the estrogen surging! I'm 71 and having hot flashes, PMS and other symptoms. I knew this was a possibility. My hair is returning to my original color and my skin is getting softer. Thank you, Dr. Berry! I am 66, had a hysterectomy years ago, and no doctor ever even brought up the subject of hormones. For years I have suffered with the symptoms you mentioned: insomnia, vaginal dryness, low libido, night sweats, etc....just not feeling normal at all, though my diet and lifestyle was/is healthy,. So, after tons of research and finding a wonderful doctor, Dr. Shawn Tassone, I started bhrt. I already feel SO much better. Since I very much trust your opinion, I'm really happy to hear that you approve of bioidentical hormones! Ty for the work you do for all of us.

@Just Peachy, there’s an excellent book written by an oncologist titled Estrogen Matters. This doctor has helped thousands of women. There are estrogen receptors all over our bodies including the brain. Estrogen is a huge protector of heart disease, osteoporosis and dementia. Hormones not only help with menopause symptoms but also the protection of the entire female body. I’m on bioidenticals, and I plan on being on them for life.

No wonder I got sick off estrogen and progesterone. My legs were so sore, I could barely get out of bed and walk without pain. I also itched all over. I have also had to have a parathyroid tumor removed. Because I kept getting kidney stones. Then my doctor said, "At least your hot flashes are gone." I could of screamed. She told me that progesterone and estrogen are bioidentical. She said, "It's all bioidentical." This was a certified women's doctor telling me this. My T3 was low and she said I was within range. Doctors don't want to ever discuss T3. I wonder why? Btw, I do carnivore. I supplement with B vitamins too. I'm still having hot flashes and have insomnia and pain.

Totally agree on carnivore-ish diet helping to re-establish monthly cycle and alleviating hot flashes. I am 56 yrs old and after 11 mos/cycle free I began eating a semi-exclusive carnivore diet. I had been having horrible hot flashes. My cycle returned a couple months later. I saw the OBGYN and she ran blood work and l had an ultrasound just to check since apparently it’s unusual to be practically in menopause (12 mos cycle free=menopause) and then have your cycle start again. Everything checked out fine, as did my routine PAP. So, for typical women who are not metabolically healthy, maybe deficient in B vitamins…or deficient in healthy fats..maybe an earlier menopause is what has been seen as “normal”. That’s my guess since per OBGYN having your cycle at 56 is not typical. But it seems to be completely normal if you’re a healthy woman. I take no meds/never have. I don’t really love meat; But I love how I feel with a carnivore based diet…
@katashley1031
@katashley1031 23 дня назад
That likely won't work for you long term. You're going to be using meat to make glucose, since every cell wants glucose. This means your body won't be able to use that protein for tissue repair and avoiding sarcopenia. It also elevates cortisol and adrenaline, and stresses the kidneys. All low carb diets have terrible long term negative effects.

I'm very leary of Big Pharma medicine so I waited as long as possible before taking anything. After a year of “toughing it out” and suffering, I raised the white flag and went on synthetic HRT. Hot flashes coming 60 times a day and night sweats, insomnia, and joint pain were unacceptable to me. I don’t regret it and it’s worth it to me. I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. The good thing is that there are options and every woman can choose how she wants to treat (or not treat) her body. Trying to do this naturally but it seems to be getting worse as the months pass. I've even cut my caffeine intake down to one cup per day but still symptoms persist. Hot flushes and burning feet as well as leg tingling are the worst of it. I'll give it the rest of the year but if things don't improve I'll be lining up for the HRT patches as it's really uncomfortable. Bio-identical only means it has the same molecular structure. It has nothing to do with who or where or how it is made. Pharmaceutical forms like Estradiol patches have this same molecular structure and are regulated. Compounding pharmacies also make bio-identical estrogen but are not regulated so you don’t know what you are getting and not necessarily “natural”. Please don’t misunderstand what bio-identical means. Menopause is more than just hot flashes. We as women need to look at what does estrogen deficiency means to us. We are outliving an organ that makes an essential hormone. If our thyroid stopped making T3 and T4 would you not replace it? We need to educate ourselves and make the best decisions for us. Btw, the WHI study results were full of misinformation and have been debunked, you can look into this more on what happened. Japanese women in Japan rarely suffer with menopause. This is due to their high seaweed diet and intake of iodine of about 13mg daily I'm surprised you didn't mention iodide/iodine. A women's ovaries make thyroid hormone type 2. When these stop working women are even more deficient. Women are very deficient in iodide/iodine. Most salt water fish is farm raised therefore no iodine. Iodine was taken out of bread and bromide put in which interferes with iodine absorption as does fluoride and chlorine. Supplementing with D3 and Lugols will result in smarter babies with fewer health problems. See a naturopath or an iodine proficient practitioner.

I'm 64 now, and the only way I knew I was post menopausal at 51 was that I stopped having periods. I can see why doctors prescribe Paxil for menopause symptoms - I was almost vegetarian and overweight at the time, however my doc prescribed low dose Paxil when I was 46 bc I was having difficulty coping with my husband's cancer diagnosis. She said her mother sailed through menopause bc of paxil and advised that I may want to stay on it through menopause. I did, and I guess that's what helped me. No dryness, hot flashes, mood swings (I asked my husband, lol) and can only imagine that it's due to the Paxil. I have had no adverse side effects, my libido has even improved as I've aged. Ketovore 6 months now; I'm working on gaining strength and energy.

Excellent advice! I am a PharmD, and I use to recommend the supplements also. Now I reflect on personal experience when making recommendations. On an annual work-up (during my late 40's), my A1c went up to 5.7. So I started a very low carb, meat and non-starchy veg eating plan (some distilled spirits), totally eliminating fruit (except lemons and limes), veg seed oils and grains. I started using a CGM to see the effects of foods on blood glucose and my ability to recover after eating. 2 results from eating (sometimes imperfect) 'ketovore'--A1c, is in a normal range, no longer prediabetes; I transitioned in my 50's without symptoms, (except feeling uncomfortably warm when I sleep). In fact my doctor ordered blood work that measured the levels of Estradiol to determine that I had transitioned, because I had no symptoms. I expected vaginal dryness, loss of libido, mood swings etc--nothing! My dexa scan showed that my bones are strong. I was prescribed a compounded DHEA (for general well being), bioidentical progesterone to help with night sweats and a carnivore diet! I now think the symptoms of menopause are like PCOS, in my opinion, all evidence (in some degree) of metabolic disorders, including inappropriate stress and evidence of other poor habits of our modern day. I no longer tell people to eat more plants, then use more plant products, supplements or rx to fix problems (that plants probably caused in the first place)--no more of the vicious circle health service consumption that is problematic. I use myself as an example. When possible, I engage people in examining their metabolic health & stressors, recommend a period of ditching all forms of sugars, including starchy carbs, fruits etc, increase animal fats and red meat, utilize sleep hygiene and circadian health practices, avoid plastics and environmental contaminants (as much as possible) etc. After a 3 month trial, unresolved symptoms should be evaluated by a doctor who specializes in prescribing bio-identical hormones. The point is to empower people to make better decisions. Much like you have done with your content.

I have been ketovore mainly meat & eggs for 2 months to stop seizures started in 2004 after a few blows to the left temporal lobe by my x partner. So far I am doing well, they were at the same time every month (when my hormones changed) in clusters of up to 6 over 5 days. I have only had 1 in the last 2 months instead of up to 10 or more. I am 61 and was taking BIHRT from about 50 when I started menopause. I found with DHEA I was loosing hair so had to remember to get 7 keto DHEA ( I think it was) which didnt cause hair loss. I stopped taking them a few years back as it was always hard to find someone who really knew about them. I ended up in the end getting help from some compounding chemists in Australia. I have had hair loss off & on over the last 10yrs but have had a lot of stress through sickness & looking after sick parents so am sure stress had a lot to do with the it. I had to put mum in a home nearly 1 year ago which was hard, but I was totally worn out. The hair loss had slowed on the low carb diet I was on for 3 months at the end of 2022, I had stopped all sugar & alcohol from June 22 after a fall, but low carb was not helping the seizures. I suddenly stopped all fruit & Veg also in Dec 22 & my hair started falling out again, it is still happening. I am hoping it is going to stop as I have lost more than half, which is very stressful in itself without all the other problems. I joined Dr Berry's community hoping for some help, had a little but not much & have not had much luck trying to get him LIVE to ask questions as there are too many people. I’ve been in menopause for 25 years and I had no HRT up until 1 month ago! I tried many many different ways to get my life back because the lack of hormones wrecks havoc on someone’s body. I was never able to eat a lot of meat, dairy products, and lots of fat, so after changing my diet and trying raw food, some supplements, vitamins and finally a HRT treatment (estrogen gel (Estrogel) and progesterone (Prometrium) in pills that I take at night… this is giving me my life back. The 56 yo, now feels like 40!! hahaha. I started to lose weigh, I know do exercices 4 days a week and the brain fog, hot flashes, memory loss, bones hurting…and so much more, is now a lot less than it was and some symptoms are now gone. For me, that’s what works…eating raw at 90-95%. And it’s not as if I haven’t had time to try different things. I had 25 years to do so. The more meat I eat, the more I become sick, lethargic and problems with my digestive system. So it’s not a one size fits all. Some can go the Keto way, others like me, absolutely not. You just have to be patient, and not hesitate to try different things. You do you. Find balance. Get rid of stress. Get rid of unnecessary pills. Eat great food meaning no fast food and move. I eat loads of veg, some fruit, starches and grains, and make protein about 20-30% of the meal, and sometimes only have that once per day with the rest being all veg, grain, fruit and etc. I felt better within days of making the change, and almost cried the first time I slept through the night when I hadn't done that in over a year.

Best book on menopause: Susun Weed, menopausal years the wise woman way. This hormonal change is normal, just like becoming a teenager was, and teenagers need lots of sleep. Nobody talks about medicating teens to treat the symptoms of this big change. Embrace the change, don't fight it. Hook in and hold on for the ride. It's worse if you fight it.

Its a natural process for sure just like when we were teenagers , but our food quality is so poor these days due to farming management practices that our bodies are more out of balance then ever by the time we enter this period in our lives. Greater the imbalance, great the side affects. Just as it was with kids getting acne - low on Zinc for many but acne can go away if you take zinc supplements and the craving for chocolate with it.

That was 11 years ago and have felt great! Nobody is taking my estrogen patch from me especially since the latest studies have been so positive preventing a lot of age related health issues. @@LifeIsWonderful675, sorry for responding so late. RU-vid never notifies me if someone responds. I had no hair loss in perimenopause. I know many women who do. Two things I’ve learned are it could be a low ferritin level (70 or below) or the thyroid is off. Unfortunately the thyroid is affected during menopause. You can ask your doctor for a ferritin test and/or a full thyroid panel. Most doctors only check the TSH. That’s not enough. You want a full thyroid panel. Don’t see an endocrinologist. They are the worst for treating the thyroid. I’d find a functional medicine doctor that takes insurance. They exist, but you have to look for one. Good luck!

I am praying they put out some recipes for ketovore to help with confusion or lack of ideas along with just doing carnivore. I started carnivore two months ago and was hoping for faster relief but alas not of yet. I will stay on this way of eating though because of some other bothering symptoms being relieved. I will keep you in my prayers because for some of us out there, this is extremely brutal. This is real and there is no positive thinking this away, but for sanity’s sake I have to keep trying for relief and hopefully resolve of this stage.
