Good idea for the end of the year. I recently embraced "time blocking" where you allocate specific periods of time each day where you turn on one skill set and then turn it off and start a new time block. It has been instrumental in eliminating stress because I know I have the same time block the next day if I haven't finished something today. Additionally, eating lunch is a time block that gives me "mental permission" to take a much needed break and nourish myself.

I've been enjoying time blocking recently too 💪 I don't necessarily have the same task at the same time each day, but I separate my day into 5 rough time blocks that I then dedicate to different types of work. Might get a bit more structured with it in the new year though 💜

I am really great at writing stuff down, I just need to work on actually doing the things I write down. I feel motivated to make 2024 the year of doing the things on my lists! :)

Love the idea of a mental reset. Sure beats having a semi-mental spiral the few days before the New Year then muting the feels with too much champagne 😂

Haha 😂 we'll that's certainly a strategy, even if not maaaaybe the best one 💜 Hopefully we can avoid a spiral this year 🤞

I did this with you, and I've never done anything like this before. I took up broadly the things you did and made my own little additions. I really love the Keep/ Start / Stop list - that was so simple yet brought so much clarity! Thanks a lot. ❤

Ah a mental reset is a good idea! You also inspired me to make a rough schedule for the end of december - I will have a few days off so naturally I want to do all the things then. But I'm already feeling so tired and in the need for a break, it would be kinder to myself to prioritise. I guess that's one of my stop-list-points then: stop filling free days with huge lists of tasks to accomplish 😑

My mental health rec is a book “A Liberated Mind” by Steven Hayes. It’s about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and has been life changing for me. The other one is a book called “Elastic Habits” by Stephen Guise. It’s like a two-dimensional version of your ceiling and floor concept. I’m working on setting up my habits and tracking now.

I think for mental health resources I think it would be good to check out any free resources that you health care provider has. I struggle with my mental health particularly in the winter and find that the NHS has useful resources. I'm not sure if you can access them from your country but it is a worth a check. University of Exeter also has good free resources so also check that out.

Jess, your videos are informative and engaging! You come up with such creative ideas! You can always learn something new from you channel. Mental health ideas like from some RU-vid channels are on Mariane Cresp channel she has a video how to use a self-care/break list where is discussing 3 types of breaks and one called take these 3 types of breaks , Midlife Adulting has a video called self-care kit, Diane in Denmark has a video hygge baskets where she mentions creating self-care baskets on her channel!

For the mental health stuff look up dialectical thinking essentially DBT: Middle Path, Wise Mind v Emotional Mind, Opposite Action etc. Great for Emotional regulation and conflict resolution.

I think it is great the way you think about mental health. I think self care and mental health has become commercialised and seen as a tick box activity, which I don't find helpful or effective. For me, thinking of it as a toolbox is more helpful - activities and practices that I can use when and where I need too

The most useful trick I've learned for when you're overwhelmed in the moment is to stop (write down what you were doing - this is more for adhd brains because you WILL forget) and go do something completely different. My favourite is to go make a cup of tea. Forcing your brain to switch to a different task can be very helpful. Now I'm not saying this will work for everyone because unfortunately mental health is incredibly personal. But it's one that I would often recommend to try out.

It's unbelievable how you fully pack valuable and original content in each of your videos 💖 thank you for another year of goodness. For the mental health research category I recommend reading "the Myth of Normal" by Gabor Maté and learning about Paul Conti's structure of self and function of self (e.g. by listening to the 4 episodes of Huberman Lab Podcast where he was a Guest). These were game changers for me in 2023.

I tend to recognize my mental patterns that I should change but it's really hard... and in the last couple of years I came to the conclusion that some of this patterns are probably neuro divergent patterns (adhd and autism) so I can't change them but I can search ways that works for me. The problem is that in Italy being diagnosed is hard if you are adult, female and if you aren't non-verbal and/or have high difficulties ☹️ So I have to search for sources in english (luckily I understand it enough but it would be so much simpler if I could have them in italian) S If someone knows some book's titles or some youtuber that have practical suggestions for nd people, please let me know 🙏

I like to use "Mental Inventory" in place of brain dump. I mean, in my mind it's still brain dump, but I like it better on a page 😅

Curious about your mental reset, I came across the "pcos research" item when I read your list. What do you want to know about this? I have pcos, so maybe I'm able to help you out. Thank you for reminding me to braindump occassionaly.

Try to Phrase your ideas for the next year in a positive way as our brain is unable to process the Word "not" or anything phrased as negatives as it works in pictures and therefore "not burnt out" will be pretty bad as the picture will be burnt out for your brain 🤗
