EVERYONE that buys this will pay extra for the AMG styling pack cause without it, it looks like the standard A-Class... who the hell would want that. All hail the mighty stick of truth! For £44k I would wait for the A45, which will probably start at £50k and have most of the styling kit included and, lets face it, if you're buying this, the A45 is the one you really want...
is this hot hatch really worth £35,000? ehhh yes, i would happily pay the £44,000 for that car with those specs. seems like a pretty good deal to me considering that it STARTS at £57,000 here in norway, and about £70,000 with those specs
Just got a new 24 plate a35 , rims arent proud anymore , handbrake has moved , been in many others and by far this has the best interior by far the rest of the competition may aswell be a fiesta inside , looks the best by far especially if you get the premium plus aero package with the magno mountain grey , yes its nearly 50k but you only live once
Of course it's not worth 35k. No car is ever really worth that kind of money. You may *WANT* anything, but you will never really *NEED* anything that costs more than maybe like 25k, brand new. The car prices have gone absolutely insane over the past 10 years, and we consumers are to blame for this. We need to just learn to distinguish between our conditioned wants vs our real needs and stop trying to live above our means + impress people who don't care about us.
So it’s pretty much what the M140i is to the M2. The problem is the M140i doesn’t pretend to be an M2. Deffo a rear spoiler delete and no loud paint to give it a bit more of its own identity. Not sure if it will tempt people away from their Golf Rs as with options the Merc as lovely as it is ...is pricey. Plus some people unfortunately want the fastest car in the range. Not the 2nd
z h The A45 is the fastest in the A class range. That’s what I meant 👍 Some people just don’t like 2nd best. The Golf R is top of the Golf range with regards to performance.
@kishankotecha2002 The M2 is a very reliable car (compared to other sports cars), engine itself is bulletproof (not sure of the new S55 for the M2 comp.) but the old M2 uses the same engine as the 335i did etc, turbos are the only down side to the n54/5 really from personal experience as they are a hassle to replace. Sorry to hear about yours :/
@The Truth the combination of pure adredaline and somewhat luxury because you do pay for it. Tell me the reason to get a Mercedes? Try selling me a Mercedes, make me think otherwise go on give it a try
Wow, they gave you a version without AMG seats and the fancy steering wheel buttons? Srsly? No wonder you feel like it's pretty similar to the regular A class...
blipinsk no hence I would never get a Mercedes, you get more standard equipment on a 3 series than the s Class. Let that sit in bearing in mind it costs three times as much
I'd go for the spoiler, but either way it's a lovely car. A true Classy Hyper Hatch, I must admit that back in the 90s I never thought such a thing would exist. Hot Hatches were just little shopping cars with way more power, the closest you got to luxury was electric windows and mirrors (and even that was only if you're lucky!) Things have progressed so far, with top ends hitting 160+mph and 60 in just over 4 seconds. My beloved (by me anyway) Astra GTE 16 valve had 150+BHP, 60 in over 7 seconds and 135mph top end, even warm hatches exceed that nowadays!!! I hope they keep on pushing these motors ever faster and safer!!!
Amazing car but the styling leaves a lot to be desired at that price point. Looks exactly like the much cheaper A Class AMG line you see on the road every day. Could've done better
I've reviewed the A35 last weekend and I agree with Mats verdict. I must say that the problem with the central screen been on the way of our hand must be a problem with right hand cars. And that spoiler is just amazing!
Chris It did have some mods to the exhaust system and the driver cheated on the brake test! That being said the Audi sounds much better and is the same as a Golf R (brilliant car) just with four rings on it!
A S it improves air flow so theres no backwards pressure improving performance in the lower end of revs so it does! The Golf R and S3 are the same car and it thrashed the Golf you tell me its no modded!
Cheeky on the Hull comment, nothing wrong with living in Hull if you pick the right areas. Atleast you can go anywhere you want u like some cities if you go down the wrong street you risk your life 😉 The a35 for me has the same problem as the s3, it will always be in the shadow of its bigger brother
Hi, I have this a35 too. I have one question. When your camera was on the speed display when you were accelerating you could see the visuals from yellow to red telling you when to shift up. I never see that but I do see the ‘blocks’ . Does that only happen when you put it in manual mode?
Yeah I wish you would use less plastic. Early 90s cars used aluminum valve covers. I don't know why they don't go back to aluminum valve covers get rid of the plastic decorative pieces and put some materials that will last. Totally planned obsolescence
Anyone who complains this is expensive should take a look at the price of this in Singapore... It costs 200k SGD here which is equivalent to 112K euros.....
Glad to see 300hp AWD hatchbacks. I've been wanting an STI but it's incredibly ugly interior, terrible seating position, and lack of hatchback has been holding me back. This might be what I need for winter driving! This or the A45. I'll wait on reviews for that thing
Chris Abbott It looks crap. The screens make it worse, since they look expensive, but the rest is cheap plastic. Luxurious hatchback does not exist. Anyone that things the mercedes badge makes it luxurious is a moron. You get luxury interior on E class and above, same with bmw and audi.
@@afrikaazanialuti it is true that a streamlined vehicle will have the least drag, but cars, due to practicality, can never be totally streamlined and will have a vacuum behind them at high speed ( when they are pushing through air). Spoiler produce turbulence that fills those vaccum and reduce the drag effect of the negative pressure. It also produce a tiny amount of down force to stabilize the rear end at high speed.
I like it. The Golf R is just too dull looking, inside and out, plus the interior isn't good enough for the price. Every review I've seen for the S3 says that the steering lacks feel and good feedback. That's why I'm glad that they seem to have paid extra attention to that on the A35.
Are you high? The S3 is literally trash compared to this in anything other than raw power and potentially looks if you like the S3 more. Everything else the Mercedes stomps.
I am curious as to how much downforce that spoiler actually creates. If it was adding a substantial benefit I would have it otherwise I don’t care for it too much.
@@jochendreibein1203 ill believe that when i see it. A 270kw rs3 was faster than the 285kw a45....so even if the new a45 has more power on paper, i still think it it will be slower than a current rs3. And thats stock, when mods are involved its not even close
I configurated in mercedes Greece and... the basic model starts at 58000 euros thats 51000 gbp and after some extras, not the much suited edition 1 amg package that looks amazing, not even color i left on free black night, added some safety and comfort nothing fancy, navi and the 10,25'' screens, 19'' wheels, the prize climped to 70100 euros or 61985 gbp. its for crying out loud. keep up the much enjoyed and informant videos matt and car wow crew eventhough our carmarkets are in different universe. the prize for the amg edition1 package alone is around 10000euros with vat and extra taxes will be added when you have the car configured.
In Hong Kong, It doesn't even have the internet access ability ,navigation, Mercedes Me Connect. You will never able to purchase the activation for Smartphone integration package after delivery. A handicapped new A class.
Some british: 35k is expensive Me: "Well i don't think that it's very expensive" Also me: *Goes to Mercedes website in my country and sees the car at 62k* Once again, me: *Cries for knowing that i'll never have a car like this one*
£35k fully standard. It’s not worth it. I was gonna get one and after adding extras it came to £45k, then I saw it get destroyed in the race you did and I backed out. Will wait for the new A45.
I managed to buy a brand new nearly fully specced out E class with air suspension, burmeister sound system, multi beam headlights, panoramic sunroof, heated seats all round for £38k.. it doesn’t seem good value compared to that.
Zylon FPV Agreed. If it was £35k fully loaded then probably. But it’s stupidly over priced for what it is. The people that are buying them like crazy must be pissed or something. Add another 5 grand and you can pick up and absolute monster of an RS3 brand new. lol it’s insane.
Yup the RS3 is good, but the new A45 will be more insane. It can send more power to the rear and go sideways, and 20hp more than RS3. Price will be nuts though..
Funny it's 35k pounds. In The Netherlands it cost 80k euros. Because of our stupid tax system. There is literally only like 10 persons buying this model in the whole Netherlands.
It can not be compared golf R really, it has only hatch version, golf R comes in Estate as well, load a fridge and fly with 300 horses! ;) R wins. Merc looks better, but that°s about it.
I’d trade .3 seconds for a manual in every car option. I B love shifting. However i see it clearly limits my option. That’s the only downfall. I really do not care about city stop start traffic and a clutch. I wouldn’t have the trouble to pass in a manual to just want automatic. What’s the point in that?
