I love these old Mercedes vans! These are from back in the day when Mercedes-Benz was known for their quality. If it hadn't been for the rust it would outlast another 4 decades!
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Brendan Zaiden I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
also OM616 engines are made in india too and are also super reliable and still made to date sadly not many people make the OM617 parts but theres companies trying to reproduce them for 3rd party part stores and such or metal 3d printing if they can get the 3d blueprints for them
@@linksZsabre18 they truly are the best engines ever made. Its a dam shame people want these new electric cars. These diesel engines will outlive the new stuff too!
@@livelongandprosper70 If you take care of it and undercoat the car properly, it'll be good forever. Millions of classic cars in great shape here in USA, especially South and West Coast!
Its nice seeing this. I remember the other 407D video about 3-4 years ago. Thats the first video I saw and I have been a subscriber since. Keep up the good work
A boy was in a bus eating chocolate, then he took another one, the man next to him said: "Do you know this will damage your teeth". The boy replied "My grandfather lived 135 years".The man asked 'was it because of eating chocolate'? The boy replied"No he was always minding his own business."
My father transported fish with this truck for 40 years. You would need an ear transplant after each voyage as the machine is inside the cabin. I still remember shouting to my father just to tell him we need to stop for a pee!
Great video , these things fetching huge money as is 508s also ,easy restore see 'Pete c 'videos restored ford cortinas that were much much worse condition than this and then won shows with them 👍
Flexiny what's going to happen about the Mercedes Benz 407D Van may I ask? Is it going to be restored repaired is the engine going to be having new parts fitted?
What is it with Mercedes? I parked up my 811D in 2012, because of the play in the steering. A new steering box was the only option and even a reconditioned one cost more than the van! A few years later i could get in and out without using the doors. They seem to become water soluble when they're parked up...
Nothing built today comes close to the sheer quality of these old machines, and ease of maintenance as well. Vehicles are getting so complicated nowadays it will reach a point where they are unrepairable, simply tow it to the scrap yard and buy new, maby we are there already?
in 1985 i bought a 1974 407 and that was a disaster on wheels because the 240D engine only had 65hp or something like that, so way underpowered, and a 4 speed manual so at 90kmh it sounded as if the engine could explode any minute. And i didn't had a radio in it, because there were no speakers that were louder than the engine, and you needed to shout to your passenger. Later i bought a 508 with the famous green 314 engine, and that was a huge difference alright. That was in the mid 80's and now 35 ( almost 40) years later i bought a 508 again with a high roof and a sliding door to the cargo bay and power steering witch is very very very rare! And it's all 100 original and never been transformed to a camper, so no holes or windows are cut in it, so i'm going to restore it until it looks new again and then sell it for a big bag of money, because the well kept ones are worth a small fortune!
My L406D has a OM615 60Hp 2179cc engine - yes its slow- revs at 4,200 at about 60mph, which is high for a diesel. It will cruise all day on the flat at that speed thought - amazing as the engine is 50 years old! Chain driven OHC - Regular maintenance - they are very reliable engines if looked after.
Buy this machine from Germany its called a Narran Laser Precision electric Laser Cleaner this type of machine cuts off all old paint from cars Van's bring the thing back to bare clean metal see what repairs need going that would look great once it's been repaired.
Take everything a part from the van plus engine have the whole van sandblasted all over get the metal nice and cleaned back go over it the whole van see what repairs need doing and sorting out have the engine taken away and restored.
I remember a comment that somebody said that: flexiny wear gloves please. my friends dad died becouse of skin cancer what he got from difrent car oils on his hands. I dont exactly remember the comment
