Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 S 2016 2017 review 

May get flack for this but whatever. People can debate all they want about whether M or AMG is better, but in terms of sound the current AMG cars sound SOOOO better than the current M cars, hands down.

Looks like a very classy sport sedan. I just wish they would drop the ipad trend!

Had a chance to drive the C63s and I must say, I fell in love with the car once I hopped on the throttle and felt the power of the AMG engine. I own an E92 M3 and although I love the sound of the V8 M3 and the grip and stability thru turns, the power of these AMG cars is amazing

Personally, Id take the C63 over the M3 any day!

Mercedes is more luxurious than any BMW. The C63 is a beast yet still feels luxurious. Even in sports plus. The best or nothing.

I'm a hard core BMW fanboy, but I have to say I'm so happy that the new AMGs are so good. They're going to make BMW M push themselves harder and make even better cars. Rivalry is what makes these cars so good. If they had no competition, we'd be getting half assed cars

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out but the new AMG models use the AMG Speedshift MCT Transmission which doesn't have a torque converter so I guess the smooth transitions are because of something else 😁. Also, you've settled an internal struggle I've been dealing by basically confirming that the M3/M4 is only better when in comes to exterior design (Unless you're a BMW fanboy, of course) 🙌 Enjoyed the vid

Hi Nick, the C63 doesn't have a torque converter, they use a clutch pack at the front of the gearbox which eliminates the torque converter.

The problem with the sound of your M4 (partly) is the fake sound coming from the stereo speakers. I'm surprised nobody ever mentions it.

Mercedes is absolutely destroying BMW in terms of interior quality, car quality and performance these days. BMW is making porkers these days

Great vid! I originally wanted the C63s when I was shopping for a family sedan last year however it's quite a bit more expensive + there was a $15,000 dealer markup. I ended up with an F80 6spd and it still puts a smile on my face whenever I drive it, see it or think about it. All this without accounting for the fact the M3 is 30k cheaper!

2015 M3 owner here, honestly, i love my M3. But not going to lie, after getting the GLC300, i got hooked with Mercedes and now i'm going to get a C63S

Perfect review. My buddy just got a c63 s and I have an m4. And we came to the same points as you. Sound,ride,launch control everything is really like you said. But I am surprised you didnt do a roll race. Thats what I havent seen so much off.

Nick, I have the 2016 C63S and love everything about it. Ultimately what sold me on this car over the M3 is the sound. I hated the fake speaker pumping sound BMW does now to make the car sound better. It was worth the 8k, to me anyway, to have the better, hand built engine, with real rumble. In addition, the C63S has a Speedshift 7 Gtronic wet clutch MB automatic. Not the torque converter ZF tranny like you mentioned. It uses that wet clutch and better programming to get near as fast shifts as a DCT, but still deliver smooth power during normal operation. That being said, I do wish it had a DCT. Really my only complaint. But then again, it would be nearly the same as the AMG GT-S and AMG can't have that. The C63 is 40k less. Great video and keep up the good work.

Hey Nick, great video Was looking into purchasing a c63s sedan but was a little torn between that or a s550. Yes I know big difference, but I was wondering since you drove the c63s sedan how is the ride quality? Does it have a soft air suspension feel like the s550 or does it have a really stiff ride . I know it's not going to drive completely the same as a s550 but I atleast want it to have good comfort soft riding feel mixed a sport feel. Thanks 👍🏻

Nice review Nick. Find it strange the gear level is on the steering wheel though. Don't know if I could get used to that in a sports sedan

Great video Neck - but what the heck is that panorama sun/moon/mars/venus/neptune roof doing when it's open??? On the exterior shot of the vehicle it looks like your working for Windscreens O'brien out doing an installation and transporting the new screen on the roof!!! Classic stuff!!

beautiful car and I probably would get one for at least a while but my wife prefers the styling of the M3 more. I had two F80s and would like to get a C63 now but won't get the green light. I also was always scared off by the auto transmission. I'm driving an S3 now which is fun and nice to be in, but will likely be going into a 718 or 991.2 next. back to a sportier car.

Yes, I agreed. :) Middle display screen with big border is a bad one! They should make it smaller border as thin as possible and make the screen area as large as possible.

Nick this is why I watch your channel. You say it like it is and not biased towards a brand even though you own one. I feel the same between the Benz and the BMW's. I own a Benz because I realized I don't drive aggressive most of the time so I can enjoy the luxury but when I want the power it's there. But I'm with you....if money wasn't an issue I'd have one of each and a Porsche and the Jag. ;)

Mercedes doesn't use ZF. The transmission in the AMG is a Mercedes designed unit called "MCT" (multi clutch technology) and it does not use a torque-converter either, it has a wet clutch.

Hello Nick, what is your opinion about the performance seats. I really liked them during my test drive but not sure how they would be on a long drive.

And this my friends is the epitome of a true enthusiast, kudos for not being biased. I too am a BMW fan, but this last gen AMG really has taken me aback. that being said, my next car (currently in an f80 m3) choice has gotten that much harder.

does driving a high power car feel uncomfortable when u r stuck in traffic jam and constantly tapping the gas pedal? How deep do u have to tap on the pedal and does it just launch u forward into the car in front?

I ended up buying an RCF myself but that was just because of the amazing deal that I got. I am still awaiting your RCF review though! :) The new C63s AMG Coupe looks much better. Wider rear fenders so it looks more aggressive. One question though - no drag race between the C63S and the M4? Was looking forward to that!

Nick what's your thoughts on the ride comfort and nvh of c63 vs the zcp m3 you drove. I can hear the freeway expansion joints thud through the car constantly

Nick, Seems like there is a play on the steering wheel. The exterior design, front I am really digging but the rear is bland. Interior is gorgeous but do agree it can do without the iPad type screen, just look out out place with the overall design of the interior.

i ordered a c63 s coupe. like you, i'm not a fan of the exterior of the sedan. what's your opinion on how the coupe looks?

This MCT transmission Instead of a torque converter, it uses a compact wet startup clutch, in other words, is the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission without a torque converter.

It's the amg MCT transmission, not a torque converter. It has wet clutches in place of where the torque converter would be.

Great video as always! I was curious what you think about the COMAND interface? I recently had a rental C300 and the COMAND was absolutely dreadful and has kept me from even considering AMG over the M3 I ordered. Even after 3 days in the car, I never got used to it and just hated it more every day.

Great review which I enjoyed. I love the V8 and yes the screen edges are silly. I agree on the exterior. To me it has the look and shape of an executive or "old mans" car if you like even though it's supposed to be sporty and cool. The M4 wins in that department with it's sexy looks.

This exhaust note is such a nice combination of Braun (a la z06) and sophistication. Ultimate sleeper fantasies realized in a car like this. At any moment you could smoke just about any car on the road but only those in the know would pick this car out in traffic.

What I hate with this car is the dashboard screen that stick out like a dash mounted GPS the 2017 E class & the S class got the screen concealed in dashboard.

About the interior: Nick you are some 6'2" or 3"? When you are outside of the car that car looks huge but inside, hmm.. not so: The Steering wheel is in between your knees, there is barely enough space to move legs around because that wide middle console and the head rest is behind your neck. When you are pulling over you need to move your head down to look out and at the mirrors. That worries me a lot because I am 6'4". I heard the new Prius got some new ergonomic lowered front seats.. Eh?

So it's more comfortable, faster, sounds better, linear power delivery, "far superior interior", is more luxurious and costs around the same as an M4? Also major respect to you for not running over to the accident with your camera. Another great video Nick.

I love the exterior of the M4 but the interior of the C63s is 100 times more posh and sophisticated.
