I had a green vac line break at the connector that goes to an air tank in the passenger front panel inside the wheel well. You should be able to hear any leaks. Good place to start.
Hello, beautiful person, thank you very much for making and sharing such informative videos, your videos are very useful for me, I am watching you from Azerbaijan, 60% of the cars driven in our country are w202, w210 models
Awesome detail, thank you very much for that !! gotta go do a similar job up in Ungheni in a few days, need some pieces off a salvage, this came in very handy as homework so to speak ))
@@PatsCarGarage I just used an air gun and blew air thru drains. But now thinking back i think i should have done more... I have a feeling that mine is plugged.. I mean it works ok, heats up and cools down, but when I turn the AC on Ithink i get this musky smell and also I noticed that I barely get any condensation draining even in the hottest month of the summer with ac on. I think I have the condensation just sitting on the bottom somewhere or in the evaporator. I bought two cans of the foaming cleaner but I haven't used them yet. Just have this feeling that something isn't right. Thats why i said take you time
i had to replace vacuum actuator on the fresh air intake flap. my vacuum pump would not shut off if i had the climate control unit on "OFF" or "RECIRCULATION". i traced the vacuum leak to the faulty vacuum element operating the flap. Before u tear your car apart, get a vacuum schematic and troubleshoot in sections. u need the schematic to understand how it works.
It seems the easy leeks are at the distribution block which is a cheep toss cheep money at it fix, next is under the hood all the rubber vacuum hoses just replace due to age then iron out the others, i had a crappy transmission shift in a 96 c220 M111 with a 722.4 and it was all because the rubber hose was leaking on the manifold and one dollar US solved the shift issues. So many things on these old Mercs can be solved for peanuts.
awesome video! I also have a 1995 w202. same under dash cover ad yours. from Minute 16:00 you describe how to remove screws and take it down. do you by chance know the part number of that entire under knee panel? thank you!
Hello, Master. In my car, my driver is running the antifreeze. There are many reductions in the unit. What do you advise? Mail Tell me where to shoot pictures
hi AndyP: seeing that we have the same car model except for the year, I will proceed to do the same process for air conditioning. thx for the video. PS. i still have thesame noise when my car is cold.
Rumi Pezo when u start the car and the engine is cold theres an air compressor that pushes fresh air into exhaust. the compressor is located undwr the alternator. usually it works for about 90 sec.
Hello, I do not speak English well, but I wanted to ask you a question . I have a 1994 Mercedes C280 , then driving to want to place P not want to enter the march reaches ( N ) . I have to keep driving until you want to enter the fly (R and P ) that may be the problem? what should I do? Thank you!.
This is a bear of a job to do but do able, when approaching this type of repair its cheep insurance to replace as much as possible and prepare for brittle plastic the speaker covers will normally shatter in warmer areas same with the tabs on the ac vents so know each of the pieces that you remove could shatter in the process and you may have to replace. I would budget 1000 to do this your self with OEM parts that are new the air-vents and audio covers 9 outta 10 times crumble and given the age of these vehicles now replacing all the modulators is cheep future insurance.
I'm about to remove and install new carpet on a 1997 C280. Do I need to remove the dash as well? or can I get away with just removing the middle console, seats and all kick panels?
what problem did you have to make you pull the dash out? I've got a problem with my 94 c280 where the vacuum pump in the boot is not shutting off on start up straight away. also the aircon plays up sometimes. I was hoping it's not the aircon vacuum block but think I need to do the same as you.
Thank you for the video. I am glad I stumbled upon it. My '2000 C280 speedometer doesn't work . It does measure speed accurately because I used my phone and neighborhood radar to check speed. I also noticed when warmer weather speedometer issue occurs less often. Curious what you think could be the issue...sensor vs motor?
Hi. I don't know. Never looked into this problem. I have a similar issue with my speedometer, it gets sticky in worm weather...sometimes when I start driving, the niddle doesn't move and then it jumps when I get to 60-70 km/h. I've read different forums ans some say they disassembled the instrument cluster and cleaned the little post that the niddle rests on. With time the paint becomes like glue. Not sure if this is true...
Hi! I have a similar problem with the right side blowing hot air while the right side blows cold. I believe I have a blend door actuation problem. I can't seem to locate the part number for the bellows that move the doors. What was the part number you used?
Andy you have an OBD connector on your 1995 C280, my 95 does not. Is this something that was done for the Mercedes for the North American market? My understanding was that the OBD connectors was ot really in them until the 1996 model...
My car is 95 north American model and it has an OBD2 connector under the dash along with a 38pin plug connection in the engine compartment. Officially OBD2 was introduced in NA in 1996 and i think in Europe around 2000.
Yes I believe you are correct, MB had there own way of OBD in the early days but the general auto industry went another direction and well MB had to follow, unfortunately the car I have is from Germany, a 95 and only the 38 pin connector and I need an interface module and a laptop to analyze anything...
Well you can get or make the analog blinking light analizer. I made one, its very simple. Also need the document to translate number of blinks to a fault code. Google it...
Yes thanks for that, I did look into that and then I found an interface box and software for more diagnostics from a site in China, I am going to see how welll that works, at the moment I am trying to find something I have that I can maybe load a Win Xp on cause that is all this S/W will run on.... its always another thing eh
Hi Good Video. Do you have any info on how to get my headlights left on warning buzzer to function? It works with the seat belt warning light but very intermittantly with the lights on usually when its hot out. I have have the cluster out many times and know where the buzzer is.Thinking about running a bright LED to let me know when its light out..TY
Hi. Thanks for your response. I just got the vehicle from a friend last week but noticed the air conditioner wasn't working. The lights on the auto was on permanently.
Hello Andy, James here. I was watching your video for dismantling the dashboard for climate issues. My question is, my floor vents are not working. I had my AC evaporator core replaced a a few years ago in shop. It blows cold as is, but as I stated, the floor vents are blocked. I do not appear to have the vacuum block under the hood. I've read on gorums about troubleshooting the bellows which is why I watched your video. Do you have any tips you could give me for troubleshooting the problen that doesn't require taking off the dash for starters? Thanks, James
jaeski33 Hi James. Sorry i was away last month and couldnt reply.. To start troubleshooting u have to find the vacuum schematic. It will make it much easier. Not sure which model u have, on 95 c280 that i have all vents are open/closed functions are by means of vacuum bellows. The vacuum is supplied thru a manifold licated under the glove compartment. The command to the manifold is an electrical signal from climate control unit. So before you start tearing apart the dash you better make sure the problem is in the bellow.
AndyP Mercedes-Benz Channel Hi Andy, I ended up replacing the bellow for the floor flap since it was easy to get to [inside the glove compartment] and it did not FIX the issue. Recently, I tried replacing the vacuum Control element in the same area and the problem was solved for a few days but then it stopped working again. Any thoughts??
Hi. If freplacing the below solved the problem for a day or so, it looks like you have a leak somewhere in the line or in a connection . Try to find the vacuul system schematic, and you can get a cheap vacuum pump at harbour Freight. Do you hear the vacuum pump running as you switch between different air flow directions?
If it worked for a bit installing a new unit, why would it stop working later? Just trying to understand. I here some shifting of mechanisms when I change air flow. Should I listen directly to the vacuum valve itself?
Well, it's not that difficult, and it's not that heavy either. I had to do this twice, cause first time I forgot to reconnect the passenger side air bag. Give youself a couple of days and take your time.
